Me: Hm.... What DID happen to Chaotic? Negative Legend: Chaotic was a trading card game owned by 4KidsEntertainment. Me: STOP! I already have all the info I need.
I always thought this would make a great video game. Not an online card game, but a full, open world game. There would be exploration of an open world, and great combat. Basically, there'd be the "lobby", where you could walk around, chat with other players, watch battles currently going on or replays of old ones, etc. Then there'd be Perim, where you could go out and explore the world, scanning locations, battle gear, and characters. Then, there'd be battle, where you could play as any character that you scanned, and could equip the gear and mugic like an RPG system. I think it would have great potential as a online competitive muliplayer game, with really good character progression, leveling up, and custom games (amount of character, certain rules, etc.). Man, I want that so much.
yea me too, I remember watching chaotic when I was a kid and recently I just started rewatching it and I had that same thought. I think it would be so amazing to have an open world mmo kind of game like that where you go around the world and scan stuff and have fights like they do in the show, it would be so awesome!
What I thought might be cool is having Chaotic, and Perim as an MMO as portrayed in the show. Then also have it so that you can actually scan what you find, and add it to your online deck.
You guys are saying the obvious. The problem is how do game developers program the characters/AI properly that they move around and actually do stuff. At a level where it’s difficult to get scans but not so hard no one can do it. Also what about whether the characters are caught by ai. You guys are giving the basics. Where’s the detail at
@Penta Deuce : Just checked the front page of chaotic starter decks for eBay. That’s a whole lot of M’arrillions to the point that I’m mistaking it for an insane Zerg rush.
that game was so ahead of everything else in the online application of tcg games. I loved being able to play from home without having to treck my to a tcg store one town away to be able to play multiplayer
It really wasn't Fate. It's called Greed and 4Kids was so full of it that they died due to all the legal battles they pulled trying to maximize their profits.
Hey everybody, I HAVE AN UPDATE! While the official card game doesn’t look like it’s coming back, there’s a guy who has been recreating Chaotic in the Steam “Tabletop Simulator” program. He currently has made it so that you can play with every card up to Zenith of the Hive, and a few sets later I believe. Tabletop Simulator costs about $12 and all you need to do is subscribe to the guy’s steam page to have access to the Chaotic material. I’ll link the page in a bit Edit: the link to the page with all the Chaotic mods on it is steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=698145978 And it looks like he has even more available sets than I thought. The guy is being really generous by making the mods free, and I think this will be a way for us all to get back into the game!
chaotic was the show i grew up with i have so much cards im 15 now but will never forget the last time i watched the show they had an entire week of just chaotic and never after.i miss it so much
The Zac Martin I remember watching it on television before I went to school in first grade lol..... never finished the episodes at all only saw the beginning of the episodes 😂
I remember Chaotic as a kid, it was on 4Kids back in the day and it was interesting. It could've been the next Yu-Gi-Oh or Vanguard but sadly it didn't last long. I would like to see CHAOTIC come back, maybe I'll understand why people love it. :)
4kids should just give up any rights they have to Chaotic (whether it's episode or game wise) since they never gonna do anything again. It makes me sad to see something great & fun die like this. If Chaotic was brought back it could easily take the tcg realm by storm imo
Yu-Gi-Oh has turned into garbage anyways. I kind of hope it does get rebooted in some way so that the game can go back to the more attrition-based gameplay of the first several sets.
I really hope this comes back, I used to play this when it was in production and just recently went through all my old cards and watched the anime all over again. I was really sad to see that the site was down and to realize the whole thing stopped around the time I got out of Chaotic. Hopefully it will make a come back.
“And your end is beginning, right now!” (proceeds to self-destruct) SlickNick: I don’t get it. What happened? Dromemaster: You have no Creatures left. MajorTom still has Qwun. Wow, this was quite the quality product. I'd been hearing bits and pieces of this information over the years, but I never had the complete picture, especially about the lawsuit. Thank you for putting this together, my viewers have always been asking me what happened to the game, and I could never give them a good answer. At least now I can direct them here. I haven't watched LowTier4 life's video yet, but does he say exactly where he got the information about the specifics of the lawsuit? I looked hard about 4 years ago but couldn't find much...
I forgot to mention it but I got most the info years ago on some forum posts on the original chaotic site (I think, it was the original Chaotic forums might of been a different forum I was following at the time) and lots of digging on the internet which I did back when all that crap was going on and there were some TCG news sites covering it. Tried finding the articles again when I began re-researching for my video since I wanted to make sure I had all of the facts right but most of the sites that covered the lawsuit went down between those years.
It makes more sense that a lawsuit happened rather than the game straight up dying. I mean, the website straight up stopped working when this all went down, and the cards vanishing from shelves made people think it just wasn’t popular.
Funny enough it's not that they shouldn't stay away from them, it's that they literally got greedy everytime one made them money and literally ruined what was an amazing money making opportunity. If I recall they literally went bankrupt because of millions of unpaid royalties ivolving yugioh too. Not only once did they spoil a great card money opportunity, they literally sunk themselves in their greed when what they had was more than enough.
Thank you so much for making this video! I always wondered what happened to Chaotic cause I'm also a huge Chaotic fan. I loved the game so much and I was so upset that it was taken off the market because it instantly became my favorite card game. I hope one-day Chaotic will make its return.

The best about chaotic was the complex story it possesed, about a war between 4 (later 5) superpowers. Some tribes where nicer than others, some had more sympathetic backgrounds, some had more stable societies but, all in all, they where all flawed. Every card was part of a greater story that flowed into a single one, showing the different perspectives of the history of perim and despite there being more "heroic" characters there were no "good guys". There was the underworld which was filled with ignorance, violence and famine, with there desire to conquer being the only thing that kept it all from falling apart into chaos; the overworld, which was the most stable of the tribes but also the one with the most resources which they refused to share with the other tribes (fun fact: its implied that they where prejudiced against most reptiles); the danians, whose isolationist, totalitarian, yet surprisingly effective, caste based system on a both biological and social level prevented them from both understanding and being understood by the other tribes, which judging by the personalities of the individual danians, weren't actually all that different; the mipedian who where probably the most sympathetic yet the most bitter of the tribes, having been wronged by all the other tribes (who where in turn distrustful of them and their invisibility) at some point of history and finally the m'arillians, who where governed by a thought capable minority that held absolute power. There shared history prevented them from reaching peace despite there being several interactions between creatures that implied that this peace was indeed possible. Damn you 4kids for killing this franchise.
Subscribing to your channel. It's amazing to see that the fan basis has come back and seeing my images from a website I made in 2008 still circulating is amazing. Thank you for this video and I am sure the fans do too
@@AndrewDembouski except for some episode that are owned by 4kidsentertainment like season 2 episode 11 i cant watch episode 11 of season 2 because its owned by these assholes!
Fantastic video. Chaotic was the only card game I EVER got into and was a huge part of my high school years. Despite how unlucky I was compared to my circle of friends who played the card game when it came to opening packs and getting stuff relevant to my strategy, the character designs alone almost made the entire thing worth it, there was just so much thought and care put into each design and the flavor text as well. There still hasn't been anything quite like it and if it were to come back I would instantly go back to playing it. Shoutouts to Danian mains.
That's 4kids for you, even when they do something right, just give them timr and they'll find a way to fuck it up. They had something great going on with chaotic, but they decided it was a smart move to sue the original creator and cease production for 3 years while doing so. What a bunch of retarded assholes.
I really miss this show and the card game. when it died out I managed to always find a tin or 2 at Kmart lol. Never could figure out how to play the online system...Shame. really wanna get back into this game to. I got a crap load of cards still sitting on my shelf in my rm not being used or touched...Geez. I hope they bring it back. bc this was my childhood. and we all know, full well...Paten is very well missed lol
I freaking love chaotic just for the designs alone I mean look at blazvatan a giant kaiju with tornado limbs that is one of the greatest monsters to ever be designed
I would have had a bombing Underworld Deck if they hadn't shut it down. Was planning on buying Chaor The Fierce and going for a full-on Dmg deck, then it got shut down and I slowly lost interest just because none of my buddies played anymore :(. I also had a nearly broken Overworld deck with Viqtuarr that was based around the *Defender* ablity, a cool niche Deck with Danians based around having 1 monster with 100+ health, and a sweet Mipedian Warbeast deck that I loved almost as much as my Underworld Deck. My M'arrillians were pretty sweet too, had the one warrior guy with 70 HP plus the Fire/Water elements. Combined with my overlords it was a really fun tribe to play. The one thing I liked most about it though? No ban list, no limit list, and everything is ACTUALLY BALANCED.
I miss Chaotic. I have so many cards, and only need Chaor and Aa'une the Oligarch (plus their variations, of course) to complete my collection of the "Monarchs". I don't have any Tribeless cards, and some cards are getting expensive. Damn it, 4kids! You just had to go and ruin everything! I would love to see Chaotic come back again.
I remember watching the TV show as a kid and really liking it. And just last week I decided to binge watch the whole series again, and besides some of the voice acting being weak, I still enjoyed myself. I really liked the art change in Season 2, even if it was a bit choppy. I never played the game, but I may start buying the cards for collector purposes. Kind of like what I do for Yugioh.
Megan Campbell actually, the cothica is an all powerful artifact that shaped the world of perim. it was sought out by the 4 tribes, unbeknownst to them, the artifact resides deep in m'arillion territory.
My RUclips channel used to be all about chaotic before I changed my username and deleted (almost) all my chaotic videos. One day I had caught the attention of one of the voice actors of chaotic who sent me a PM. As a kid, I was so excited to get a PM from someone who worked on my favorite show at the start of season 2. The actor in question gave me spoilers and previews of the plot of season 2 and 3 (that ultimately came true) and told me that SEVEN seasons were planned out for the show. Somewhere out there, there are drafts on the last seasons of Chaotic that never got produced due to its cancellation.
I remember waiting for 4 pm to roll around, the time when Chaotic episodes were playing, on TeleToon. I remember being so excited about opening my first DOP Overworld Starter Deck. So much nostalgia packed in one card game. This was my childhood.
Honestly though the original owners of Chaotic could have given the license to Cartoon Network. I remember there being shows that 4K!DS had and then Cartoon Network had. Hell even Nickelodeon could have had the right to it.
Short term, it always seemed to me that kiddy stuff actually has an advantage if you market it well enough because kids will eat it up like candy. Long term, it doesn't seem to have a difference. There was a ton of kiddy stuf that coudn't live for long, while some others still thrive (Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh). Exactly the same as for the non-kiddy stuff, most of them die off eventually. It doesn't make much sense to me saying it was due to the product being kiddy when non-kiddy stuff tends to perform similarly.
so what if its a kids game? It's not like the world is gonna run out of kids so no one is gonna play the game anymore. Also, Chaotic was a way better game due to the detailed cards and how so many things contributed on the cards when you played.
Hey Legend, I collected Chaotic cards and I have a LOT of them. From common all the way to ultra rare. Chaotic was also one of my all time favorite TV shows and Chaotic was my first card game to start collecting. I still have my Chaotic cards and treasure them dearly. It would awesome if we had the chance to trade Chaotic cards. Maybe one day.
Thanks for the explanation. The part that I was most confused about was how it just stopped all of a sudden. How they were just about to release their next set, and then the website and the community just paused for over a year. One die hard fan to another, if it does come back I'd love to see your videos of it.
I seriously loved the tv show of chaotic. Back when i was a kid it was one of the tv shows i would watch immediately after school and i wish they'd bring it back
I binged the entire show last year, it actually holds up really well, I remember catching a few episodes here and there really early in the morning on cartoon network when I was a kid. I bought one of those booster tins shortly after, mainly because the top popped off into a scanner like the show and I wanted it. I STILL have the cards and the scanner.
Before I watched this video I had no recollection of chaotic, but watching was so fucking nostalgic for me, and I still can't fully remember what chaotic was about.
I still have my holographic Maxxor I got from the scanner tin, god I miss this so much and playing the game online was so much fun. It really should come back
Does anyone else remember the last episode of chaotic as the season just started and more epic monsters were seen. It broke my heart when i waited a week after week for a new episode then found out that it was cancelled.
for me as a german fan it was really crushing. The serie ended after season one. So nobody found out what happend. Years later i discovered the episodes here.
This was one of my favorite shows when i was younger and i never knew it was a card game, but i loved the characters and their interactions with each other so now that i know that 4kids ruined it by being greedy pricks has made me lose faith in alot of things

By the way, my personal favorites were the mipedians
It's 2017. Any news? :o
lol

Sean Dackary waiting...
Still waiting
And still waiting...
Still waiting... :,(
The series scared the shit out of me i was little and some of the beast sound very intimidating.
Chaotic was the first collectable card game I played and loved. I miss the series so much.
Subscribing to your channel. It's amazing to see that the fan basis has come back and seeing my images from a website I made in 2008 still circulating is amazing. Thank you for this video and I am sure the fans do too
I only got to see few episodes then poof it's gone
Paradraw Zombie you can find all of them on RUclips
@@AndrewDembouski except for some episode that are owned by 4kidsentertainment like season 2 episode 11 i cant watch episode 11 of season 2 because its owned by these assholes!
yap
Fantastic video. Chaotic was the only card game I EVER got into and was a huge part of my high school years. Despite how unlucky I was compared to my circle of friends who played the card game when it came to opening packs and getting stuff relevant to my strategy, the character designs alone almost made the entire thing worth it, there was just so much thought and care put into each design and the flavor text as well. There still hasn't been anything quite like it and if it were to come back I would instantly go back to playing it.
Shoutouts to Danian mains.
One of the few things 4kids did good like TMNT 2003, and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight!
also early Pokemon, Yugioh
That's 4kids for you, even when they do something right, just give them timr and they'll find a way to fuck it up. They had something great going on with chaotic, but they decided it was a smart move to sue the original creator and cease production for 3 years while doing so. What a bunch of retarded assholes.
Thank you Negative Legend and LowTier4Life I now have some closure on Chaotic. loved the game
Tom Paten Chaz (I think it was?) and sarah...They are all missed
I believed their names are spelled Tom, Peyton, Kaz, and Sarah.
Erik Liu my bad lol couldn't remember how they had em spelled
Hidden Angel LionHeart It's fine. I remember once having to go on a website to find their names.
I feel that one day Chaotic will come back, just like all the other popular animes.
I want it back, the show was great and have a VERY GOOD concept
The moment I heard "2017" I freaked the fuck out! Thank you for letting me know :D
I freaking love chaotic just for the designs alone I mean look at blazvatan a giant kaiju with tornado limbs that is one of the greatest monsters to ever be designed
i really hope they bring back the game i really loved it and i want to play with my overworlders again
I guess the situation has become pretty... *takes off glasses* "chaotic"
Watching this and looking at my overworlders deck
Thanks man
This was very enlightening. I had no idea just how creative and well put-together this game was
ya i really wanted to play the online game butt i never got to get online but i still got chaotic cards
My Chaotic marathon has brought me here, and now I must know which tribe you side with!
GIVE ME MY CHAOTIC BACK
I remember this. For me it just vanished and I was so sad. It was like "oh it's gone now. Deal with it"
I miss Chaotic.
CHAOTIC IS COMING BACK! I PROMISE!
Angel george I wish
ya know, i might just purchase the rights to it in the future.
CHAOTIC=COTHICA. That means that in the show the world of chaotic is actually the cothica. Think about that lol they should bring this back.
Megan Campbell actually, the cothica is an all powerful artifact that shaped the world of perim. it was sought out by the 4 tribes, unbeknownst to them, the artifact resides deep in m'arillion territory.
Sota Steelwing Uh, no. The M'arrillians don't actually have it. In one episode it was revealed to be a lie. No one knows where the Cothica is.
I like to think that the Cothica is actually within the players's hub(i forgot the name of most things...god i need to re-watch the show)
I had forgotten all about this but then this video appeared in my recomendations, this got me a little sad all over again I really miss this game
Its 2017 still waiting😭
Here again right after the news of Chaotic coming back to TV! Can't wait! I'll binge that show everyday if I can!
4kids tried to take full control of the game and ended up killing it.
Chaotic?? My head is hurting its all fuzzy seems like I should remember it feels cool like a awesome piece of my childhood faded I must binge!!!
I remember waiting for 4 pm to roll around, the time when Chaotic episodes were playing, on TeleToon. I remember being so excited about opening my first DOP Overworld Starter Deck. So much nostalgia packed in one card game. This was my childhood.
Chaotic was the greatest thing ever
Since I discovered Chaotic all those years ago, only old-style, Tier 3 and lower yugioh scratches that itch
3:12 for a second I thought that was goddamn Stardust Dragon.
I used to have cards I bought one of the big packs that gave me like a ton of red cards too bad I lost them andd didn't know how to play *Sad Violin*
Honestly though the original owners of Chaotic could have given the license to Cartoon Network. I remember there being shows that 4K!DS had and then Cartoon Network had. Hell even Nickelodeon could have had the right to it.
It's 2017 and no chaotic
😧😧😧
2018 now, still no Chaotic.... :(
😢
Delta Squad 2019 no chaotic :(
As someone who still has all of his cards, his gifted playmat, and signed artwork from the Chaotic company themselves, I want this to comeback
reason, imo
1. the game was marketed to kids
2. the kids grew up
Yugioh is marketed to kids, those kids grew up, those kids still play the game.
Negative Legend if I recall Chaotic always had some kind of stigma that it was a kids game.
Greed was the reason not those reasons.
Chaotic was ultra popular, how many dead card games do you know that have people still paying $50+ for singles
OH MY GOD I WAS TALKING ABOUT THIS TO MY FRIENDS AND I COULDNT REMEMBER FOR THE LIFE OF ME WHAT IT WAS CALLED
I AM SO HAPPY RN!
Goddammit 4Kids
I miss the game and the show. There have been days where I would want to watch the show all over again. I hope it makes a come back in the near future
The TV show was awesome! It was part of my afternoon routine. It will played before (or after) Spiderman: The Animated Series on Disney XD.
I'm waiting for the day we manage to get this back. Imagine how AMAZING that would be.
I want it back. One thing I always think about when I imagine where our technology is going is the Chaotic show.
same
Hey Legend, I collected Chaotic cards and I have a LOT of them. From common all the way to ultra rare. Chaotic was also one of my all time favorite TV shows and Chaotic was my first card game to start collecting. I still have my Chaotic cards and treasure them dearly. It would awesome if we had the chance to trade Chaotic cards. Maybe one day.
I can't tell you how good it is to see so many people still love this game.
Back when i was a kid it was one of the tv shows i would watch immediately after school and i wish they'd bring it back
Ryza Cobalion Same here. That show, and Digimon reruns on Jetix were my childhood.
Jesse Hills i stopped watching digimon after data squad but my all time favorite is digimon frontier
I don't remember much about this show but I remember watching this shit every Saturday
I had this on the DS and watched every episode hundreds of times me and my friend watched this religiously oh the memories
for me as a german fan it was really crushing. The serie ended after season one. So nobody found out what happend. Years later i discovered the episodes here.
I want to bring back chaotic. Thanks for making this video dude.
As someone who works at a game store, these videos are a great nostalgia kick for me.
But wait, there's more...
This was one of my favorite shows when i was younger and i never knew it was a card game, but i loved the characters and their interactions with each other so now that i know that 4kids ruined it by being greedy pricks has made me lose faith in alot of things
This is one of those shows that people love but can't quite remember the name of it
I completely forgot Chaotic existed. I sudden flash of nostalgia flashed when I saw the show.
Its 2020 and I just finished watching that show for the 1000th time.
still missing that great show.
Thanks for helping me remember the name i was thinking about this show for so long
Not only was the show part of my childhood, but so was the card game. Still have the cards to this day. A damn shame :(
