Thank you Maureen! Yes, I am lucky and very happy I had this spare pump and it reminds me to have always a spare one at hand even it would only a cheap one. I will definitely enjoy our weather here for you in America, Canada and Europe 😎

It never stops with koi keeping. There's always something breaking 🤬 UV bulb life who knows???? All the best, jens😀🐟

Cheers Gary! This breaking just reminded me to have always a spare part at hand even it would be only a cheap one. I think the life of the uv bulb depends on its quality maybe. All the Best to you as well Gary 😎

Glad you managed to get the skimmer sorted and functioning once again. Pond and koi are looking great. I wish we had 36C degrees here right now. Weather forecast for the early part of next week is -34C with the wind chill and -19C without the wind. 🥶Spring can't come soon enough for me.

Thank you Ken! Brr , it is sure cold on your side. I have experienced-19 C before but -34 C is extreme.

Great update Jens. Full watch. Glad you had a backup pump ready to put on. UV always gets brought in here for the winter. It's just too cold to run it. Hopefully I won't have to buy a bulb first thing in spring. I'm hoping to get another season out of it, since I bought it so late in the summer. Your KOi are all looking great! Thanks for another great update. ❤️🤗

Thank you Chris! Yes, you should get another season out of your uv . You only used it during summer and basically only used half of its lifetime. Next winter I think of switching mine off and watch for any difference.

Yes, you are right. Quite interesting to me the difference between the two ponds.

It never fails/ stops. Equipment constantly breaking down no matter how you look after it.
I try to keep spairs on pumps but I don't use uvs. I try to mimic bogs that take care of most of the algae( green water) . Uvs are expensive and have to be taken in for our winters.
Like ken says. Its getting cold here...very.. I would love to be in your heat enjoying a cold one with my feet dangling in the water there.
Your koi are top notch and looking healthy.

Sorry for responding so late. I thought I had answered before. Must have mixed things up. Yes, having spares comes in handy. I try keep so around. Except now my spare broke and replacement isn’t here yet. How comical 😁. I like or better love the idea of bog filtration but never had good experience with it. However I think now I figured out the best way of it. I still will keep using uv‘s because I think they can be beneficial in keeping the germ count down. When I build another pond in the future I will include a big free flowing bog filter river.
