riser on plane alignment.

- riser alignment is critical for limb life and longevity. on plane is a complex concept not mentioned in riser manuals. trad bows suffer from this, but normally less so because most are inline or mildly deflexed. BUT some risers have the grip off-centre for asthetics.

Very interesting I was wondering how you check for these issues. Many thanks
My CD Archery WF21 has a milled in central grove under the grip. Makes checking for alignment nice and easy.
To me that's unnecessary, and also doesn't tell you if the riser is on plane.
The problem with the line being in the middle of the riser. Is it doesn't tell you if your setup us Z shaped. If it's Z. The string will go through centre.
Also to note. Risers with less deflex also won't show out of plane unless you project the plane away from the axis that the plane is rotated on
Thanks for the fast reply! The groove is quite wide and long. So if the bow is a "Z" you wont be able to see the string straight all along the groove and centered as well. The groove is beneath the grip, so definitely not in the middle of the riser. Z shape shows easy. Also easy to check for alignment in a draw board, because it's under the grip.
@@chrisbowman2030 if it works for you then cool.
People need to be a bit more skeptical when listening to marketing (this is coming from me, who love Apple product but WILL ALWAYS QUESTION THEIR OFFERING AND PRICE)
“solution looking for a problem” or “what is the problem you’re trying to solve with this feature”
To find if my bow string is aligned and symmetric, I use a cell phone to snap a pic. Hard to “look” down the bow when one has micro movement from breathing and heart beating.
No matter how grossly I hate the fact that riser manufacturers give all these alignment features because it's just a lazy solution to a profound problem, it's a nice way to mitigate badly-produced cheap limbs people use when starting archery. Although, it's annoying to see that machining errors still happen to top risers produced by top manufacturers.
Sid will you give us a limb alignment video?
I'll do my best. Video and 3d space isn't the easiest
What’s wrong with Beiter gauges? Tom Lund
@@user-gd2ym3fo9v there can be things that cause them to not show true centre. There are also occasions where an athletically imperfect limb, can function perfectly, which better guages will show as wrong concluding in a wrong setup
What riser is that...did I miss it?
