Due to injuries in Afghanistan I can't get my pilots license. So this is the next best thing.

The discords there for everyone and anyone who has the little control to yank and bank an aircraft and welcomes them to the Sunday Funday.
They now usually are uploaded to the GrimReapers2 Channel so might check them out we do nearly equally crazy stuff over there.
And if you are there at the right time in the right voice channel and your voice is at least known, then Cap just might invite you to "Wargames" where all sorts of interesting stuff happens.
I myself found GR more by accident after I already learned the frogfoot and Warthog and wanted some place to fly with other people.
And looking back GR is maybe the best place for me to do that. I still can't do air to air refueling, I only sometimes catch a wire and my A2A skills are really lacking...
But you know what never is lacking once you fly with the boys and girls?
That's right: fun and appreciation
No one gets left out and anyone can come by to have fun. The sillier the better if you don't hinder the fun of all the others.
I find the small insight into your story moving and inspiring. I can only imagine how hard it might be to be hindered in getting licensed. I myself hope that maybe one day I try to get airworthy IRL. But keep your affection for aviation and explore the possibilities of flightsims. I bet the GrimReapers will want to accompany you and stand by your side if you just take a peek and talk to them. Easy start is joining the training server "Stoneburner" from GR and fly with random people.

Grump yeah you too man those wake up calls and voice acting lesson really paid off. Of course How can I not thank Tuxxor no one personifies I’m too cool fo basic stuff like tuxxor. It’s get good or die training mentality that helped me to succeed. And finally Cap. What can I say. Years of formation flying. Sycronized take offs. Hours of naval battles not being allowed to land on the carrier. All of it for this moment in time. This will go on my shelf next to the award cap gave me two months ago. We’ll when it finally get here in the mail. Thank you every one this one is for you.

A skill competition wherein MiG-21s or F-5s spawn at a certain altitude with no fuel and need to hit a specific target on the ground with their face. You can set up objects in circles to serve as the dart board rings.
When looked up and saw this 35:11 I almost spit my tea up. That was the LAST thing I expected to ever see in the sky
I was crying with laughter. Well, it did better than the MiG
Great fun as always, I quite enjoyed watching this! Now all we need is a GR competition where you have to eject above some target marked with cows or orcas or something and the closest one to the center wins!
I support this scientific test to support why humans make for more accurate weapons delivery platforms than computer guided nonsense.
Make one of the later rounds inverted.
Now let us see a Deadstick Dogfight! Start high at the merge point with planes that can employ weapons with engine/engines off, over an airfield. Shoot your opponent and land to win! ...A'La Robin Olds! Speed and Altitude at the merge would be critical
What seemed to be a failed video turned out to be a one of the most entertaining ones! During that last landing, with the screaming, shooting and general chaos, I was jumping on my chair in excitement! Impressive!

If my memory serves me correctly, from when I got my Air Warfare pin for the F/A-18C, there is a little bit of pneumatic air that operates the emergency gear down. But it's just enough to unlatch. The rest is done by gravity. It's been 14 years, so no one shoot me if I'm wrong!

I paused my copy of AEW full gear 2022 4 matches in to watch this GR competition. I was not disappointed.

How about testing if you can cold start a plane at altitude. Basically dropping a plane from say 20,000 feet, and see if you can start it and land it... in one piece, before it rapidly disassembles when it lithobrakes into the ground.
I learned that these obsurd missions are 1000000 times more entertaining than the regular serious missions

Ferro (the pilot of the 1st dropship) says "Move it Spunkmeyer." just before they both die. *OOPS SPOILERS*
And Ripley shouts "Punch it Bishop!" as they are fleeing the imminent explosion in the 2nd dropship.
It helps if you remember that Spunkmeyer isn't a pilot, he's the navigator/gunner/observer and he never actually flies the dropship.

This should be good. I saw one you all did with a landing competition with a progressively stronger cross wind. That was funny. The finalists were actually flying stationary over the carrier the cross wind was so strong if I remember correctly. It was a long time ago.
Landing on a carrier, simulated of course, is the shit. I used to use my sim and land over and over and over. It was almost hypnotic and exceedingly satisfying.
Watching through your windscreen, I could call the ball.

Great ending to a really fun "competition"! Do it with WW1 aircraft vs CWIS and 45 knot wind. Aircraft can fire but have no fuel. Add "legions of henchmen" and LST's as needed
I didn’t have hands on the 18, I only worked on the 35 but the 18 was the base aircraft to troubleshoot during A school and it was Pneumatic and gravity assisted. The downlock is reliant on gravity so going at an angle while trying to drop gear might be tricky

I’m 100% positive that the APU rides the hydraulics in case of engine failure. I was in the Air Force for 20 years. I know the EPU on all Air Force jets will ride the hydraulic systems in case of engine failure for the fighters anyway. F16’s F-15’s are my direct experience.

If you crank engine 2 with the APU on, it will give you hydraulic on #2 on the real A/c.
Um no fuel I think means no APU. But I could be wrong. Although I’m pretty sure the APU runs on fuel. ;)

I have been meaning to ask. There were some episodes I saw where "Cortana" ?? was giving you attitude. What was that about and what episodes were those? It caught me off guard when I first heard it. But it was funny. What was the reason behind those episodes? Just curious. Will there be more of those?
