fascinating stuff. Thank you for the pauses you add for things to be read or a scene to be enjoyed. These are so well done. I shared this one to Facebook
I think it's brilliant how the history is not hidden away, the buildings in the town all have a story and many of them are just there on signs for all to read. It has been done very tastefully.
Wow!! We loved this walk!! So much history!! Eye candy too! Being from the USA, we really need to do some research on stuff like this. So interesting! I look forward to morning coffee and Dave’s walks! A great way to start the day! Keep up your hard work. It’s appreciated ❤
I had no idea that England was like this. It's been two weeks since I've been watching videos about other countries and I'm really surprised. Here in Brazil, I live in the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, here in our city, people don't keep old houses. They dismantle and build 20-story skyscrapers.
Great VDO I love so much. I wish I would have visited this charming and historic place one day with my beloved people. Please share more. I am waiting for. Sincerely yours, Bangkok, Thailand.
I just wanted to say thank you for all of these. In this year of being forced to spend far too much time at home it's been wonderful to walk along with you and see places I might not ever get to in a country I would love to visit. I've recommended your channel to a lot of folks and I hope you're able to keep doing these for a long time to come. You've made my year brighter in a time of darkness and I'm grateful.
I am committed to doing these videos for as long as I possibly can! I am so glad they are enjoyed by people. It's a pleasure to film and share these places I've long found to be so beautiful! I strive to share them all!
Dave, I think you are mistaken when you say, "...... The whole village quarantined itself from the rest of the UK to prevent further spread of the disease, and did so successfully, preventing the spread to surrounding areas". The disease is believed to have reached Eyam in a flea-infested bundle of clothes sent from London in 1665 to a resident of the village. In London, there were recorded plague deaths of around 70,000, but its estimated the true figure exceeded 100,000. Eyam might have taken sensible steps to isolate itself once the plague arrived in the village, but was already widespread in England from other sources long before Eyam took those measures.
Beautiful village Dave. Thank you for stopping at some of the signs. Very interesting and yet sad histories. By the way, I am not sure if you or any of your other viewers noticed the quick glance we get of you Dave, at 43:15, in one of the backup mirrors!! So here is a big wave Hello from me to you!!!🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋!! Now to continue our walk🚶🚶🚶 !!!
Another very nice walk, Dave, with lots of interesting information. After the tragedy that took place here in the 17th century, it seems to be a beautiful and peaceful place today. Thank you very much for the tour!
thank you Dave for a lovely walk around Eyam. I wont lie... ive never heard of this place before, and only thought the plague was in London. but this place looks stunning, thank you for the interesting walk

Dave I love this video and your channel, really enjoy this sort of content! Nothing beats a walk like the lovely day you had, such a beautiful village that you've really done justice and I agree with your ratings. Looking forward to your future videos, keep it up ☺️👍🏻
Thank you Dave. Just found your channel and just enjoyed a wonderful walk around Eyam. I must say, the 'No Talking' element is perfect; just natural sounds in beautiful natural surroundings. I can't always get away with it on my video's so many of them have music. I take more photo's than video, but I am considering buying a GoPro but I will have to find out what they do first. I wonder, is there a book , GoPro for Idiots (I will check that out on Amazon! Over a nice coffee, I am now going to check out your other walks. Cheers, Mike
I would have to strongly advise against GoPro, it brought me no end of trouble and strife! Unless you intend to be doing anything considered extreme sports or anything rough where the camera is going to get bumped and banged up, it is not best suited to what I was trying to use it for, high quality videography. Check out my videos from Castleton at night walk and onward where I use the Pocket 2, the quality difference is massive.
@@DavesWalks Thanks for the info Dave, I think the Pocket 2 is what I want. I have checked Amazon, and they have one for £469. I have a birthday coming up and all I have to decide now is who is going to buy it for me. Cheers, Mike
Just browsing your videos and found this one. Have you seen the bbc Pebble Mill Play, Roses of Eyam? It's here on youtube, fascinating to watch and loved your video too.
Love your videos I’m curious about something though, towards the end walking those narrow streets with stone walls and high weeds, why doesn’t anyone keep it cut? It takes away from the charm the walls are hidden
Интересно прогуляться.. Мне очень нравятся эти маленькие улочки.. спасибо за эти прогулки. Я живу в старом городе в России.Город Псков.. ему больше 1000лет.. ☺у нас сейчас мороз -25

Million thanks, I concur,it was during days of burning youth I visited this beautiful city ❤️. It's glorious past, heritage is something ti be proud of. 👏.
I qualified by adding Chester being the City. I would like to add Chester had an old shop very well preserved, dating back to 1211 AD. If I may recal correctly l. It had wooden pillar supporting the structure.
Hol' on hol' on -so we have to assume Eyam was the only place in uk that got batch of infected clothing ????Surely other places must have recieved infected clothing aswell - and if they must have -why only Eyam badly affected???
A good question and one that I can't find a good answer too.. I think it did spread out to many Cities, with some effected very bad! but Eyam gets acknowledgement more for how it responded to being badly affected - Full village quarantine. Whilst this quarantine spared other local communities close by, it came at a huge sacrifice, a very high death count, near 3 out of 4 dieing. Some stuff about it here as to why Eyam tends to get a special mention regarding the plague: www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/HistoryofEngland/The-Great-Plague/ I think the usual (and most unhelpful) tactic when the black death came was run for the hills where as with Eyam, the village folk opted together to tough it out. Back to your question, and I am just speculating, in 1665 perhaps the clothing could have got infected during transit as it must of travelled by horse and cart where roads were mostly dirt track and assuming it wasn't really packaged much if at all, I don't know, or maybe the infected clothing did get to many places, that were then badly affected. Anyway, thanks for the question it led to much pondering :)
