When I see Gaelic Games, it saddens me that they may one day become professional sports. It's no exaggeration to say it would ruin hurling and football. The grassroots support in the communities would dissolve and they would turn into just more corporate sports like soccer. In many small towns, these sports are a lifeline, something that keeps local spirit and pride alive. Listen to the players when they talk about how proud they are to play for teams that fathers, mothers, uncles and legends and played for. Gaelic Games are unique and should be kept amateur.
I can see pay for play coming, but intercounty players will still have to have full time jobs. The market in ireland is to small for a full time big money league. One of the reasons you have large crowds at championship games is because there are not many games if there was maybe 2 games every week the attendance average would be well done plus sponsorship and television money is never going to be big.Hurling for example only fills croke park once barring replays so I wouldn't lose sleep over it yet.In the celtic tiger era when attendance levels were much higher the irish independent did sums on it and reckoned it was possible even then the highest salary would be 20 000 euro for a top player. The crowds are much smaller since and sadly look like they are on the decline and such a scenario is not possible now. With so little money involved there as well to keep it amateur and probably will.
Their is no real division like that in hurling or gaelic football all players for their local clubs even if they play for the county team(highest level) .When the county season finishes the players go back and play with there clubs and even if that club is not a high ranking club, basically you play for where your born.Even then local clubs can win their county championship which qualifies them for the provincials and if they win that they have a chance to win the national competition at there grade. mcgoo

Back in the late 80's and definitely in the 90's we got a fair bit of GAA broadcast here in the states. You had to hunt for it and it was primarily on cable channels no one cared for and at times no one was watching but it DID exist. As the networks got suckier here and the internet took over for video post 2002, the level dropped off in GAA coverage as it did for Aussie rules, which I'm also a huge fan of. I remember seeing the entire 1995 final as a young man LIVE in America on a Sunday and thinking that Clare that day and Anthony Daly in particular were awesome. I just clicked on the game to see what hurling looked like, I actually watched until half time, might even watch the 2nd half still. This and Aussie Football are the only 2 sports to catch my interest the first time I watched them. Maybe I can consider soccer too since the first time I watched it I was playing it at age 6.
No only Hurling AFL has become to toughie used to go all the time to the football but soon as they put extra rules then no good to much politics and media involved don’t get me wrong not a bad sport to watch but soon as these point were put into the game then no good. But the Hurling that sport is absolutely killer.
@@danielvecchi9939 Same with our sports in the USA, they are being destroyed by every modern deadly sin. I would rather watch a Highschool Soccer/Football match than any of our pro leagues in any sport. Wish we had hurling here in small leagues so we could go see a game in person.

This seems like a really interesting game but I can't make any since of the scoring or any other fakin aspect, other than there are no rules about beating the absolute shite out of anyone you see.
+Samuel Littrell A goal is worth 3 points over the bar one point. score system is 1.03 = 6 points. GAA.ie website for rules if you want them, that is the offical site for gaelic games
All you need to know is Cork is the best :p
+Peadar MacAindriú am who won
+Alan Woodford love the way peadar doesnt reply Cork have a 5 game losing streak last time i checked up the banner
+Adam O'Sullivan yea who do u play for
Fair play agus maith thú, class match.
@@johnliberty3647 what ashame here in Australia we have drug scandals politics sponsors that pay the players to high but anyway who do follow in Hurling what a ripper sport.
not getting much reaction on the trollin', are ya?!
fantastic game but Canning's commentary is truly appalling. Not only does he not capture the excitement, his drool actually takes from the game. As if he is watching some lob sided league game in the month of March. Please please RTE get rid of this bore.
History beckons...
Hon the banner !!!!!!!
Just telling an American sports writer this game needs to come to America.
Seán Leahy Oh good. Thanks.
I want to start a hurling team in Canada
well be back again sometime up the banner

up the banner!!!!!!!!
Can you upload tipp vs clare 2019 and tipp vs limerick 2019 munster round Robin in thurles
I am a red head and while growing up everyone thought I was Irish. I know I would have played this sport if it was available.
Is there a schedule posted online for the 2014 season? I will be in Ireland in June and would love to see a game in a large stadium like this.
I hope you got to see a game when you were here even if the big games are not till september.A munster final in pairc ui chaoimh would have been good though
stoney71 Sadly no, I didn't get to see a game. But now I have a reason to go back! Thanks Stoney!
wBryang Never been to a hurling game myself even though i am irish seen it on tv loads of times .Where i live gaelic football is more popular and have been to many games.
American hurler and footballer here (mostly hurler). I love this amazing sport and I'm so thankful that there is a great club where I live. I was in Ireland last year but didn't get the chance to go to a match unfortunately; I really hope to someday. This was a great All-Ireland final, I'm glad I was able to find this much in such great resolution too, many of the matches on youtube are too blurry. Thanks for posting this game!!
What football Gaelic, American or Soccer
Gaelic
jmfan11 cool
What a sport
Polska przejmuje ten film!!!
1:12:41 . Poor kid man, I was his age at that match, reaction was exactly the same when that goal went in lol 😂
Everytime Ger commentates on Cork I think theres a player on the team called Lee Haan
This sport is awesome!!!!!!
Thanks George, I have watched it at least 5 to 6 times since you put it up.
I love how a typical all ireland w/ kilkenny in it doesnt have even 100k views but this has 300k views
can someone explain how at 12:28-12:32 running for 10 steps is not a foul? arent players only allowed to run 4 steps?
***** technically yes, but it's a very loosely enforced rule. In reality it's more like running for 2-3 seconds instead of four steps.
John Collins Alright thanks :)
***** He actually took around 7 steps. Watch in slow motion (shift +
+Klautsche because its not enough to beat Cork you have to have a good few refs decisions going against them to really p1ss them off
Hon the fucking Banner
Can you upload tipp vs dublin 2017 qualifier full match
Outstanding-thanks for taking the effort!
The oldest and fastest field game in the world. And what a game! Played by warriors! That's why no-one will ever beat the Irish because we NEVER give in.
Great Game of Hurling
I miss Hurling, the shoite we are seeing today, is not the same game..."
