  • The Head 'Rachel' ski helmet with interchangeable visor. Your head may just love this... but is it a little too tricky to use?
Steve from Ski Shack Reviews takes a closer look, and shows how to remove the visor if you wish to change it.

Meanwhile, it's the exact colors of the jacket you're wearing.

I don't know why you're not sure about the colours? Navy blue and salmon pink . . just like your jacket

Atomic now does a similar design, as does Salomon, as does Oakley. And the flagship helmet of all of them including Head is in the £400 region. I'm returning to skiing in January - after a 35 year gap as a mature beginner, and will be in the market for a helmet in October, the question is which brand to go for. 🤷‍♂

First, the Rachel is the female version. That could be the reason you don't like the color scheme ;) The male version is called Radar. Then the main reason for fogging is hot sweat condensing on the colder glasses. A good ventilation is key on both, visors and goggles. Have you tried it in bad weather skiing? I have another visor helmet which is crap in snowy conditions. I would expect the Radar/Rachel to perform much better.

Do you know if you can put helmet audio in the Head Rachel Helmet? I can't find pockets in the ear pads.

I have a radar and can say that the flipping up and down of the visor and the opening and closing of the chin strap are comepletely effortless after a few goes - recommend these - also very comfy & now available with a photochromatic lens

Do you get a good seal with the visor at high speeds? Also, did the stock visor work in most lighting conditions or did you have to get a separate visor for flat light?

@@e-bikeskibum7141 the stock visor was OK. You can buy a low light one but I purchased a photochromic one which cost a bit more but is totally brilliant.

How does this Head Radar/Rachel visor system perform with eyeglasses and fogging in real skiing conditions? Can someone give a testimonial?

Had to laugh about the colour comments. The helmet has the same colours as your jacket, which looks blue with orange highlights.

Seems like the big problem with all of these helmets is the snowy/windy condition days would you agree? Looks like on bluebird days these helmets will be just fine. I'm concerned about the snow and then the fog being an issue on the mountain and possibly ruining my day.

All I can say is that I haven't had any issues with mine and I've skied in various conditions

I would think it'd be the opposite no? They should excel in snowy/windy days because the goggle seals against the helmet and theoretically your face (this guy's face is just small).

are there any helmet like this for kids who wears eye glasses

A gap between the lower edge of the face and visor lets expelled breath to condense on the inner visor surface. There no adjustment to eliminate this. Lots of fogging up. Blowing snow also ends up there. Big disappointment.
