    Someone has probably asked for this, but I wish there was also an audio version of videos on this channel, like something dedicated to this type of content (something separate from live or actual play content). It's kind of hard to listen/watch on youtube when traveling or when working and using it as background noises (especially when having to do work on my phone), whereas audio (like on Spotify) can operate in the background while traveling and/or working.
    I also find it hard to return to the video when im forced constantly start and stop videos on yt, but i do still enjoy the content.

    I like the “no you” apothecary build where you take noxious blood, toxic shield with toxicology theory for +5 damage, take armour of agathys with a feat or warlock dip, stolen secrets fire shield, go with alienist for the damage reduction so armour of agathys lasts as long as possible. You can be dealing an average of 60+ damage every time you are hit

    • @mac_sour
      @mac_sour 10 месяцев назад +4

      this build might actually have a use for blade ward, or some other defensive abilities. just fully shell yourself from martials and otherwise. maybe some kind of way to entice or "aggro" enemies to hit you

    • @mac_sour
      @mac_sour 10 месяцев назад +1

      how does this effect enemies at range? might be the only true weakness here

    • @lewisgale62
      @lewisgale62 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@mac_sour True. But you still have other spell options and theories that can help you. You are only investing 3 theories (4 if you want to eliminate poison immunity) so you still have a bit of wiggle room.

    • @lewisgale62
      @lewisgale62 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@mac_sour I’ve just had an idea. This will take heavy investment but if you take the sentinel feat, you can teleport next to a target with your alienist feature, then they can’t leave your reach. You can take the theories that give you extra attack, attacks with intelligence and eventually added poison damage to attack roles. Maybe even take the crossbow expert feat for 3 attacks per turn dealing dice +10 damage

    I am currently playing a Dhampir Bladesinger in a Drakkenheim campaign, and taking a 2 level dip into the Apothecary let's you continue your spell slot progression, on top of getting the Esoteric Theory that let's you use you INT score for attacks and damage rolls on a melee weapon. Great combo!

  • @ikaemos
    @ikaemos 10 месяцев назад +2

    This couldn't have come at a better time, I'm currently starting as a Pathogenist in our high-level campaign. There are so many interesting buildcraft options in the Apothecary, especially in area denial, which is not something that other casters excel at. I went with _biohazard_ (a concentration-free damaging area, chef's kiss), lingering damage from _infect_ or _pestilence,_ various "cloud" options _(stinking cloud, cloudkill,_ etc.), and for Theories I picked up Acquired Tolerance, Surgeon's Instinct and Extracurricular Research (to get _thorn whip)._ I plan on dropping harmful areas all over, hide in them (immune to my own spells due to Acquired Tolerance) and then pull enemies into them with _thorn whip_ and _grasping ghost_ - and because of my Blindsight from Surgeon's Instinct, I can do so at advantage from within clouds that provide heavy obscurement. A veritable mustard gas commando.
    EDIT: Oh, and one of our party members is a high-level monk. The synergy with her immunity to poison is going to be fantastic.

    I really love the class and it's design, however I do feel like there is one thing missing, and that would be a "base" subclass. Ranger has Hunter, Rogue has Assassin and Fighter has Champion, these subclasses work on improving the base design of the class instead of adding an additional flavor to it, and as someone who wants to make a character themed as an herbalist using this class, it was rather difficult to find a sub class that doesn't drastically change the flavor that the base class itself provides, and I would love an "alchemist" or "doctor" subclass that leans into that more.

    Hay Dungeon Dudes,
    I'm having so much fun playing as a Pathogenist, we just hit level 10 and its bloody fantastic !
    The things you can inflict on enemies and the interesting ways to give exhaustion in combat are a new element! I was recently asked by the DM to explain my kill... I Did it instantaneously.. Rick Sanchez style! :)
    Thanks team !

    I think it would be neat if, during an encounter, the Apothecary had the ability to use their reaction(maybe?) to *"concentrate on the effects of their most recent concoction."*
    This would entail that, following a creature's successful Constitution saving throw against one of your spells, the Apothecary could spend their reaction to lower the target's next Save(has to target the same ability: If they saved vs CON it's their next CON for example) against that specific spell (or possibly any spell from the same school) by rolling a 1d4. However, this capability would only be applicable if the Apothecary interacted with the creature as their initial action at the onset of their turn. Or something

    Just played a session as a lvl6 Alienist yesterday vs an Dungeon Dudes Epic-System-based Young Shadow dragon.
    Gotta say, you DEFINITELY feel the „warlock“ problem - the boss has a very high AC, so it’s far from certain that you will hit with a +7, AND the saving throws are NUTS on Boss-creatures so your spell save DC15 feels like merely a sneeze. Furthermore, you don’t have many damaging spells that damage even on a successful save, you are mostly about control and debuffs as an apothecary. But again, the sheer values of the boss saves, epic resistances, and possible magic resistance make you feel nearly useless, even with eldritch-adept to give you „Agonizing Blast“

    So if you are concentrating on web, and your strength and intelligence scores get switched, does your spell save dc the same, or drop?

    I want to use the Drakkenheim setting and the Apothecary subclass to play a Girl Genius campaign.
    Drakkenheim is basically Mechanicsburg, right down to having fallen to ruin some years before the start, you have the whole "lost heir" arc, and the Apothecary lets you play a Spark ...

    Sitting at the feet of the masters! I am seriously excited to play an Apothecary now, and also run a Drakkenheim campaign where most at least of the PCs are classes or subclasses from Sebastian' Crowe's Guide to Drakkenheim! How about an Apothecary fitting smoothly into a Curse of Strahd campaign?

    This is fun sounding as is the setting in general one of the reasons i kickstarted there first project (missed this one). Im gonna have to pick this up.
    I admit a s all part of me is worried about how powerful and flexible this class sounds. However it could also be wickedly balanced and just three people gushing on which i get.
    I love the archetype this fills, very similar to alchemist from pathfinder. And given warlocks are one of my favorite classes using that as the chasy is exciting.
