- Caught tons of sheepshead and snapper today. Everything was on live shrimp. Sheepshead were caught on a live shrimp 6-12" off the bottom and the snapper were caught mostly freelined. All in about 30ft of water out of Crystal River, Florida.
What was the spot where you caught the grouper?
Maybe we can meet up and we can take my boat out to catch some snapper and gags while I'm down in July

I just watched this video and I have to say, you guys killed it!! Excellent action. I have been living in New Port Richey since August 2016 and I fish from shore or kayak close to shore. I generally am thrilled if I can catch 3 keeper Sheepshead or Mangrove Snapper in one day. I saw you said you were in 30 feet of water, how far offshore is that? Is that like 20 miles offshore? Kudos to the captain for putting you guys on the fish, great job!
February is so easy. 30 sheep 30 snap is nothin here around then. 20 miles 30ft. And they’re my spots on other people’s boats lol

+Justin Whaley is that a calico jack fishing rod? Is it holding up still for this type of fishing? I was looking at getting one.
Best rod for the money hands down i have 4! Caught we big kings, grouper, snapper, sheepshead, Cobia, redfish, snook, you name it. 7’6”-8’ with a sienna reel 15-20lb braid. Can’t beat it.

can u catch them with fresh dead shrimp?
Of course! Sheepshead for sure. Snapper chum bag and toss in pieces of shrimp and free line a dead one

Hey how was the water visibility at the reef ?
It was rough a couple days prior so it wasn't very good

Calico jacks are the best sheepshead rods, stronger than any st.croix and just as sensitive, for the price you snap them and it's no big deal
What kind of structure were you fishing on?
All of the snapper are at the public reef in 30ft the sheeps are on a rocky ledge in a hole where they spawn

Man I know it's an older video but I have been fishing Crystal river 2 years and still cant find sheeps like that.. help!! Lol
Almost all 15-40ft rocks or springs from Jan-10 to end of February have them lol
@@capt.justinwhaley-jwfishin6896 I'll just keep looking for the rocks and locations. I think I found a spot on the map off of the barge canal I'm going to check out next trip
Try the area marked citrus reefs and stuff on the map or the main artificial reef in 30ft loaded with fish till April
Justin Whaley went out to that reef yesterday, probably a hundred boats and couldn’t see anyone catching fish. Lol
