BIKE GEARS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY - HOW TO FIX A BENT DERAILLEUR HANGER

Having trouble getting your indexed gears working properly? It's not always cable adjustment that is required to make them function correctly.
In this tutorial I will show you other problems there might be getting the gears to index which aren't cable related. If your derailleur hanger is bent it will be pretty much impossible to get your gears to index properly. There are a host of other problems that can occur because of a bent derailleur hanger which can be become quite expensive. You could end up with a damaged frame, rear wheel, derailleur and chain. More importantly you could have a very serious accident and nobody wants that.
I show you how to check it is straight using nothing more than a steel ruler and then how to straighten it. The methods and tools used in this video include a derailleur hanger straightening tool along with three other ways it can be done with items you should have in your workshop. One of them is the way I do it pretty much every time in the workshop for replaceable hangers without even taking the derailleur off. This saves time, frustration and money.
I also tell you what you should do instead of straightening the hanger while you are out on the road. This will ensure you get home riding your without doing any further damage.
