    One factor being overlooked is the inflammation caused by vegetable oils(soybean, corn, and canola) because of the method used to extract them from the seed. Avocado, olive, and coconut oils are fruit oils which are cold-pressed, and have some health benefits.

    When GPT4 was asked - "Is heart disease high among the Inuit people", the reply was :- "Yes, heart disease is a significant health concern among the Inuit people. The traditional marine diet eaten by older Inuit, which is high in omega-3 fatty acids, seems to protect them from cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, younger Inuit are shifting their diets away from these foods, which may increase their risk of heart disease1.
    Data from the 1997 First Nations and Inuit Regional Health Survey suggested that heart disease was five times higher among First Nations and Inuit peoples than the rest of the Canadian population2. More recent data revealed a significantly higher prevalence of cardiovascular disease in First Nations compared to non-Aboriginal individuals". So it seems to depend on where you get your information from.

      People that eat traditional Inuit diet don't have much heart disease, younger ones that aren't eating those foods (or those foods + "shit") are at a higher risk.
      I don't think many people disagree that a high fat diet with high carbs too is bad.

    On a low carb high fat diet, cholesterol levels have a confusing pattern across time. In the first month the numbers go up because our intake allows cholesterol already int he body to be released into the blood. Levels go up. But a low carb diet causes fat to be swept out of the blood. The triglycerides are swept out of the blood and burned for fuel. The other types of cholesterol are made from triglycerides. The other types of cholesterol last about 3 months. So during months 2 through 4 our cholesterol levels drop slowly. Starting low carb high fat today leads to better numbers 4 months later. That delay can be very confusing. It's why so many low carb experts say to measure cholesterol before starting then after 6 month. It's to not watch this confusing pattern of events.

    I'm not trying to argue for any side here, just curious about the truth. It was my understanding from listening to many experts (yes, plant based oriented) that the inuits actually had a high level of cardiovascular disease because of their diet. This rarely became an issue for them because of life expectancy generally being low. Dr. Boz, if you happen to read this comment, I'd be happy if you could share some light on this. I understand that experts sometime reach different conclusions, but having completely different views on the underlying facts (in this case, inuits and their cardiovascular health) seems odd. What is true and how come there isn't consensus?

    I am still not convinced cholesterol plays a roll in damage of artery walls. Why not in veins? Maybe damaged cholesterol carrying lipids are present, but that may well be part of the same process. Very few discuss the Glycocalyx, and I believe it is part of the issue. Carbs make them retract the longest, and when excess glucose, insulin, oxalates, triglycerides and whatever else is then present under often higher pressure conditions with the kidneys being dis-regulated, along with oxidation possible breaking down the endothelial cell wall integrity, it is little wonder to me that damage occurs, or that the healing process is impeded as well as certain sites taking the brunt of the damage and improper repairs that occur over and over again, resulting in either a direct clog, or a break away scab that causes issues elsewhere.
    Eating basic, complete nutrition lowers the blood pressure with normal insulin distribution and use, and lowers the amount of particles that can possibly cause damage, as well as keeps things that inhibit proper repair from occurring in the bloodstream, at least in my mind. This is why I think of carnivore as the most complete, basic nutrition we can get and then add what you are willing to take a chance with. The healthier we are, the more we tolerate and deal with 'food' items that do not efficiently contribute to proper body processes and functions. Basically, the diet needs to nourish, while also staying out of the way. There are plenty of other things in this world that can harm the body, make the diet the least harmful you can and be in a better position to deal with the rest of life.
    PS: This is also why I think the trig/HDL ratio is a far better determinate of issues that high cholesterol. Get the blood as clean, uncluttered and efficient as you can for it to carry and deliver everything it needs, from nutrients in, to waste out.

    Great video, doc. Loved it. So I need to ask, then, how do we thin out the pimple? Cardiologists have told me that they want an LDL around 70-80, because under 80 will allow the LDL in the plaque or pimple to leak out. So how does that fit into your framework? Is it something where some patients might benefit to go vegetarian for a while, THEN go to eating higher fat foods? Can we do the reverse (high fat foods- make a thicker cap) first, followed by vegetarian diet for a time? Just curious, as I know this is a very complicated topic. Thanks, again. Loved the video.

    • @nancycy9039

      I thought she said we want to thicken the protective sheath covering the ‘pimple’, not that we want to thin out the contents/underneath that layer.

    • @picodegallo1959
      @picodegallo1959 3 месяца назад

      @@nancycy9039 Yes. you're absolutely right. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, which is why I'm asking. Can we, excuse me for sounding gross, suck the pus out? Can we open up the artery again or will it heal with a partial blockage? Over time, does it thin out on it's own and heal- like most processes in the body can do given the time and correct nutrients? I hope that makes sense, but that's what I'm trying to understand.

    • @nancycy9039
      @nancycy9039 3 месяца назад

      @@picodegallo1959 I think her pimple analogy was off the mark just a bit. Most of us think of the ‘need’ to get the pus out of a pimple as getting rid of something ’bad’. She was saying that this cholesterol lining under the arterial wall is a fine/good thing and we need to eat correctly to keep that protective wall in place, not to decrease the amount of what’s underneath it.
      Again, that’s what I understood her to mean. I’ll listen again…

    • @picodegallo1959
      @picodegallo1959 3 месяца назад

      @@nancycy9039 I understand where you're coming from. but my thinking is that that the pimple/pus pocket/plaque also has white blood cells in it. If the body reabsorbs the pus and cholesterol, then, I think, the problem resolves (if my thinking is correct). However, depending on diet, blood pressure, and stress, it can get bigger and bigger (like doc said). The diet controls the other two- with a proper diet we lose weight (keto), weight loss brings the blood pressure down. These two factors will allow the system to do it's job and heal this... unless the stress levels stay elevated. In that case, maybe it takes longer to heal or is such a strong signal that continues to increase the size of the plaque.

    What things can you share that could be helpful in the case of a very mild heart attack caused by spontaneous arterial dissection as a result of fibromuscular dysplasia in which the catheter procedure shows "pristine arteries" (actual quote by cardiologist) no plaque no buildup, great triglycerides and cholesterol a1c etc having been keto for 4 years, IF of 16:8 to 18:6 depending on the day in overweight category of BMI 53 years old working at a physical labor on the feet job 6 days a week about 50 hours a week for nearly a year.
    Medical establishment hospital refused to allow salt fat cholesterol etc but plenty of starchy sugary blood sugar spiking foods. By the 3rd day of barely being able to eat (refusing to eat garbage) begged for a plate of asparagus with butter and salt was refused. Ended up fasting till went home and daughter made stake and dark meat chicken and some asparagus with real butter and real salt. Was told i shouldn't lift anything heavier than a jug of milk (8lbs) for a week and could stay out from work for the same because of catheterization through groin (my job required lifting 25-50 lbs several times throughout shift). Went back to work day after i got back home but didn't do the heavy lifting until the week was up.
    Advised to not keep a physical labor job and not do things to get my heart rate up because it would raise my blood pressure during exercise and put me at risk for another heart attack. Disgusting. So I should basically eat blood sugar spiking garbage and live a sedentary life. Oh and eat fake salt and polyunsats margarine etc. EWW GROSS!
    Follow up with cardiologist in my rural area, he dismissed SCAD and FMD said I didn't have those and that I didn't need to be seen again. When I asked what he assessed as the reason for my heart attack he literally said "sometimes shit happens" told me where the front door was, that I didn't need to stop at the desk and didn't need to ever come back. Fascinating since the hospital (which I was flown to in a small airplane from the rural area in which I reside) did catheterization, ultrasound, ecg, cat scan to diagnose me and he literally dismissed ALL of it. I was told by cardiologist at hospital I should be checked annually to monitor the situation but since the local cardiologist dismissed everything and didn't want to see me again I haven't had follow up in 18 months.
    QUESTION:
    Is there something specific that can be done that helps to keep the inner arterial wall from separating from the outer wall? And if so, how does the particular something work in the body, what function does it improve etc? (My heart attack was from a small flap of the separated lining slowing down blood flow to my heart)
    BTW also have excellent immune system. Breezed through covid and never caught it once I got natural immunity even with several direct exposures including caring for my 90 year old grandma (when she got it from a fully vaxed family friend who stayed at her house), staying in her home eating at same table etc. I normally get a cold once a year but it's been at least 18 months since I've gotten one. I don't get sick even when the whole house is when I go stay with my grandkids, or when everyone i live with is sick, etc.
    I've done a 36, 86, and 96 hour fast only once each and I did consume bone broth and a self concocted electrolyte solution during the 96 hour fast as I was working outside 14 hour days 6 days a week in the heat of August in South East Arizona (highs ranging from 105-115 most days) doing the census in 2020. 24 hour fasts are something I've done most of my adult life monthly for non-health reasons and those were difficult but being on keto is much easier cuz I don't feel like I haven't eaten in weeks or get the hunger pangs that feel like you just did 100 situps the day before (which I got every time when I was eating the recommended low fat blood sugar spiking garbage of the USDA).

    The Inuit actually didn't have the best health... They got 70-75 years old, where in the Mediterranean area people get to 80+ easily and it's not rare to find people of 100 years old. Based on most studies I've seen I still prefer Mediterranean above keto. Whole grains have seem to be beneficial for the heart, legumes and fruits too. Ditching those in my opinion is a very bad idea. Also increasing saturated fats will increase apoB which is the best way to measure high risk of cardiovascular events.

For the sake of argument, let's ignore whether the study is valid and just say that's a proven fact. In that case, I still have to chose Keto, because in every other way it's better for me.

      Mid-day sun, sufficient magnesium, low insulin, and low (or normal) calcium are needed to create and convert cholesterol into Vitamin D.
      I wonder if the plant based diet study affected some of these variables.

      The problem with a lot of these things claiming plant based diets are good for this or that are people that tend to be strict vegetarian or vegan are health conscious so they usually don't smoke, don't drink a lot, exercise regularly etc.
      And even dietwise even a strict carnivore would probably agree that whole food vegan is much healthier than SAD.

      Meat based is very nutritious and is extremely easy to do.

    Veganism is NOT a diet! The word "vegan" was coined by members of the Vegan Society (UK) in the late 1940s and was heavily influenced by Albert Schweitzer's writings on Reverence for Life. The definition still stands today and is as follows:
    "Veganism is a way of living which excludes all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, the animal kingdom, and includes a reverence and compassion for all life. It applies to the practice of living on the products of the plant kingdom to the exclusion of flesh, fish, fowl, eggs, honey, animal milk and its derivatives, and encourages the use of alternatives for all commodities derived wholly or in part from animals.
    Veganism remembers man's responsibilities to the earth and its resources and seeks to bring about a healthy soil and plant kingdom and a proper use of the materials of the earth."
    If you are against ugly animal exploitation and cruelty for selfish pleasure or profit, then you are already holding vegan values. Your next step is to walk your talk and be vegan. As far as diet goes, plants can provide all of the nutrients our bodies need to thrive...., but it's best to choose whole plant foods over junk food.

    • @olwill1
      @olwill1 2 месяца назад

      '...plants can provide all of the nutrients our bodies need to thrive...." This statement is False, better known by another word beginning with 'L'. You do not get vitamin B12 with the vegan diet, and you will die a horrible slow agonizing death. Strict veganism is a death diet. "Save the animals, kill the people!"

ALSO, I FELT HUNGRY AND BROKEN ALL THE TIME! They tell us to eat more electrolytes.. really? If I eat more electrolytes that would increase my carbs as well... what a JOKE!
    Just imagine... if you want to drink smoothie of veggies, you just CAN'T because that would increase your carbs to some extent.. KETO IS A JOKE!
    I Threw away the Ketogenic Diet to add a smoothie of veggies(about 1000mg -- collards, spinach, green chards) in my diet every day!

Did you think to try Dr. Boz' "sardine fast"? When a person is in ketosis, he won't be hungry. When I''m doing it, I eat because it's time to eat because I'm almost never hungry.
