    I agree! If I'm going to get enamal, it better be blue enamal! Overall, looks like a great loadout and I have a lot of similar gear. I do have a box I've been collecting that I'd like to donate. I need to find a group that needs this kind of stuff because I'd rather they have it than Goodwill.

      What is it about the blue enamel that just says camping gear? Great minds think alike I suppose 😉 It occurred to me that the reason I hadn’t donated stuff already was because I didn’t want to just drop it at a random thrift store and I’ve been starting to look for local camping groups instead. It just feels proper.

    Thanks for the reminder that some of the camping stuff you outgrow can be used by others. Every time you change the way you camp, some stuff becomes obsolete, while you discover you "need" something new. And, if I had an extra titanium fork, I'd send it to you!

      You’re welcome. It’s way too easy to hold onto everything only to watch it collect dust while you get overrun with stuff. And thank you for the fork thought 😊

    There is a way to run your teardrop fan with your bluetti power station. I did this with my camper. DIY Outdoor Life channel has a video on it, worth checking out

      I had no idea! I’ll be checking that out for sure. Thank you 🙌🏻

      I’m not sure that I’ve ever even seen a smaller propane tank. But now I’ll definitely keep my eyes open.

    Gear I love: 1) Hest Foamy mattress and pillows are so kind to my aging joints and insulate well; 2) UCO three-candle lantern for campfire ambiance, because I have asthma, and could boil water in a pinch; 3) Omnia oven, because I like to bake; 4) and Kelty Backroads side tent attaches to the roof rack at back or sides of the camper, depending on what the site seems to call for and only weights 12 pounds. I actually ditched the 270 awning that came with the camper in favor of the much lighter and more versatile Backroads. Gas mileage improved. Also, I do have a refrigerator, but like to put Cooler Shock ice packs in at the beginning of the trip to give the fridge an assist as it is getting down to temp.

      You have so many great bits of gear there. I’ve actually been thinking about the Omnia oven because I also enjoy baking. And I’ll have to take a look at the Backroads because I’m not super excited with the tent I have now. I usually throw frozen water bottles in through cooler when we leave and then fill the bottles with ice as we travel to help keep things cool in the cooler but cooler shock packs sound intriguing too.

      @@adventuredawgs The Backroads isn't going to keep the bugs away, though. I have to use my repellant, citronella. etc. I can definitely see the advantage of a clam tent, but I have resisted the weight and the price. I also like having the tent attached to the camper and over my kitchen.

      @@cherylbarrett3443 Seems like no matter where you go, there needs to be the extra bug deterrents. That's one good thing about the Hasika: you can set it up so that the wall panel goes over the galley door.

    • @cherylbarrett3443
      @cherylbarrett3443 3 месяца назад

      @@adventuredawgs My galley is on the side instead of the back. There are doors in the back. What the manufacturer recommends for that is the Napier SUV tent. I haven't bought it so far. I am not sure I will. The floor inside my teardrop is 5X8. If it gets too buggy, I just go inside. I sleep on a mattress on a cot, and my gear is underneath. I can use it as a couch, and the pup has space to hang out as well. We are pretty comfy. If I must cook inside due to rain, I am getting by with the Dash mini rice cooker on the power station.

      @@cherylbarrett3443 we have a Napier SUV tent that we’ve replaced with a side room. Let me know if you’re interested in buying a used, but good Napier.

    Thanks for stopping by! I hope you got some great ideas for the next time you're thinking of adding to your gear collection. If you liked the video, give it a like to let me know. And share what items you count in with your essential gear or the purchases that were a dud.

      We splurged and got an ARB awning and room. The best! A place to store stuff and a place to change. The biggest dud? Hmmm. Maybe a tie for the three bivvy tents that we bought, and a relatively expensive set of plastic plates, bowls, cups. Plastic isn't my jam. Just like you, steel or enamel are my preferred dinnerware. And, yes, the blue enamel is the best!

    • @adventuredawgs
      @adventuredawgs  3 месяца назад

      @@tricias5927 be right back. Going to check out ARB awning 😉
      There’s just something about the blue enamel that’s just more camp isn’t there? What was it about the dishes and bibs tie that made them duds?

    • @tricias5927
      @tricias5927 3 месяца назад

      The bivvy tents -- we bought three before we just decided to use the side tent. One wasn't quite big enough, one was a shower tent and had a weird floor for draining the water. The other was more trouble to set up. So, side tent it is. We usually camp at parks, so there are facilities available. When we are far from facilities, we have a backup plan, but I haven't had to use it yet. The plates: I'm worried about the plastic beaking down when I put food fresh off the grill on them. Most plastic (except silicone) deteriorates under high heat. My steel and enamel wear do get hot, but I just wrap a tea towel around them. And because space is so limited in a teardrop, I find that I gave to be judicious in my choices. For example, our last TD didn't have heat, so we carried a small electric heater that could run off the Bluetti. But we have heat in the new TD, so goodbye heater.

    • @adventuredawgs
      @adventuredawgs  3 месяца назад

      @@tricias5927 That must have been so frustrating to go through so many tents. I totally get the desire to get rid of the plastic plates in that case. And it's funny when you think that you can bring so much more stuff in the teardrop but you still have to be so careful with what you bring. I'm a bit jealous that you have a heater. I just have a meathead 😉

    On the propane tank adapter… those also work on the tanks that are small (half the size?) that they sell at tractor supply… Not that I have one, but if I were interested in something bigger than those little green bottles I’d get that. Lately I’ve been able to use my 12v HotLogic Mini to slow cook meals while I’m traveling. 🧭. PS: somehow I ended up with 2 of those collapsible cones to make pour over coffee so I keep the spare one in a ziplock bag with a bunch 2 filters tucked into the inside pocket of my suitcase for train/plane travel, with coffee grounds in a small vitamin bottle so I’m always ready to make coffee. ☕️

    • @adventuredawgs
      @adventuredawgs  3 месяца назад +1

      I will have to go on the hunt for those tanks now and see what I can figure out. I have friends who use the mini slow cookers at work but I don’t think it ever occurred to me to bring one camping. That is next-level food prep. And I like your coffee style! 🙌🏻🤣
