Would you be happy if you had a player which is occupying a superstar position in the club with the highest salary and not even playing, if he is not happy he could have left and we could get another star player and be contenders for the CL this year... The thing is I find that any negativity from English fans is often reactionary to the negativity (often hostility from Scottish) coming from our neighbours; I myself and many other English people I have met have supported Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland and even Ireland in competitions as secondary teams, meanwhile our neighbours will often actively support any team facing England (again mainly the Scots).

I would go easy with that "single-handedly" claim as it concerns the extra-time of La Decima in 2014. He scored a tap-in header (albeit tough) but was due to Di Maria's legendary dribble. Bale was absent the rest of the match and played no role in the other 3 goals. The game ended 4-1 in case you forgot.
Also, as for the respect element, while Bale was outstanding the first 2-3 seasons with Madrid, after that his output drastically declined. It was first due to injuries but then also due to his attitude.
He never appeared committed or passionate about playing for Madrid, especially, after Cristiano's departure. He didn't get relegated to the bench for no reason. It was injuries, sub-par and passive performances, and then lack of commitment.
No club pays the wages that Madrid were paying Bale and doesn't want the player to contribute to the team or succeed. That would be ridiculous!
And, for people blaming Zidane, give me a break. It wasn't only Zidane who dropped Bale, even Solari, Julian, and most recently Ancelotti didn't Bale in their starting 11. When that many coaches are against playing you, maybe you are the problem. Don't forget his own teammates complaining about Bale's disengaged attitude (Courtois noted that Bale doesn't hang out with them).
And for people lauding Bale's trophy haul with Madrid, sure he contributed majorly in couple of occasions (most notably UCL 2018 final & Copa Del Rey 2014 final or even UCL 2014 final - though to a lesser extent) those were never games Madrid was losing so there is no way to know how they might have went without his contributions. He did rescue Madrid on a couple of occasions in LaLiga 2016-17 and a handful of other times. But, his trophy haul is majorly due to his world-class teammates led by Cristiano and others.
His lack of commitment became abhorrently obvious since 2019-2020 and is epitomized by him considering retirement at 32 years old and going to MLS in a world cup year.

How has he been mis-treated? Both parties signed a contract, he doesn't perform when he gets the opportunity but still gets paid. He has not been a huge waste of money over the last 3 seasons, that cannot be argued. Don't see how it's "disgusting". Ancelotti came into Madrid and gave him a chance to be a starter. Then Ancelotti quickly learnt that Bale didn't care and just wanted to use the gym facilities to get fit for Wales. In what world should a player not be criticised by the press if they don't want to play for the club that pays them £500k a week? The English media criticise Pogba all the time, yet his attitude hasn't been anywhere close to what Bale's has been over the past 3 years.
He doesn't feel like giving his best for Madrid, for whatever reason, and his 500k contract does not compel him to do that. It's always fun to see someone getting one up on these big corporations. Bale is following his heart - Great for him. Who cares if a tiny % of Real Madrid's cash is not utilized in the most optimal way.

Two sides to every story, but it is weird, in general when he is on the pitch, he is always capable of pulling something out of the bag. I hear the issue club managers have with him is they expect much more of him in training - whereas Bale prefers to take it easy in training and have a creative role in matches.
I think it's just the injuries tbh. If you watch pre season build up to la Liga in Spain, it's mentioned a few times that he's been the best in training with Real etc. He just needs to be carefully managed when it comes down to minutes on the pitch

Great player but never came close to matching Messi or Ronaldo`s stats, Ronaldo broke George Best`s English top flight goal scoring record for a winger in one season, Bale never came close to that at spurs and Messi has far more assists than Bale ever got.
