LOVE ragtime especially what you play & how you play it . They just don't write em like that any more. The 'history' lessons are such a bonus. You mention names of old' musicians' my Dad talked about when I was a tot, 3/4ths of a century ago.
Thanks for mentioning the great Winifred Atwell. She lived for a long time in Australia, and was the organist at my local church when I was a child. She was very much loved by Australians !
15:25 My dad used to sing us a parody of that hit song: I want a beer like the beer That pickled dear old Dad It was the beer, and the only beer That daddy ever had A good old fashioned beer With lots of foam It took ten men to carry daddy home Oh, I want a beer like the beer That pickled my old man
Adam, you are fantastic! The first video I saw by you was when you were playing 12th Street Rag, which appeared to be done at a house party. The little boy with the glasses standing next to you was completely enthralled by your playing. I was too. I couldn't get over how you kept speeding up that 12th street rag as you went along. Absolutely amazing! I subscribed immediately after watching that video. I'm hoping to hear Kitten on the Keys written by Zez Confrey. The first time I heard the song was back in the 50s or 60s by Knuckles O'Toole.
Thank you for honoring Joe Fingers Carr (Lou Busch) and Jo Anne Castle. Two great ragtime players that inspired me to play in that style way back in the early 1970s.
He is the only four- time winner of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest and has been a featured performer and lekturę at ragtime and jazz festivals both in the US and around the world...
Wonderful music, thank you. I just discovered your youtube channel. I’m from New Jersey, the Jersey Shore as people call it. My dad loved music, he had a lot of those records that were heavy and seemed made out of rock (he was born in Elizabeth, NJ in 1910).
This is the first time I heard you play, and I'm amazed! I'm a struggling piano player who can only dream of playing like you. What a wonderful talent you have! I enjoyed your music very much as well as your commentary. You've motivated me to practice more even though it's very hard for me. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I love listening to you play!! Play some more, I'll be listening.

Do you have a list of 50 ragtime / honky-tonk classics for the piano that an aspiring piano student can learn over time to represent a full repertoire of that time?
Do you play any John Phillip Sousa (on piano, of course)? might be interesting to hear your arrangements--could do an entire program of them....dts/usa
Yes indeed Fantastic show tonight. Loved every piece and every song. Thank you Adam I recommended your lives to about 20 people tonight. You might get some new viewers 🤞🏽🙌🏼✅🙏🎶🤩
man its been a pleasure to watch you evolve and the personal changes of the music ..im a hard rock heavy metal long hair but man i really enjoy your videos ..your teacher and parents should be glowimgly proud as you should be too WOW MAN
Even though this concert has a high number of views, I would not recommend it as an example of my work. It’s “themed honky-tonk” night… the corny 1950s commercial style of ragtime. I would suggest looking at my stride jazz oriented concerts or the concert entitled “Jazz Age Masterpieces,” for more variety and serious concert piano works of the 1920s and 30s.
i's so inresting to hear all the stories about the peices you play. I love this so much man. Keep it up

Do you have a list of 50 ragtime / honky-tonk classics for the piano that an aspiring piano student can learn over time to represent a full repertoire of that time?
Me too
Soupy Sales had a kiddie show in Detroit and used the Honky Tonk album when showing silent movies. Early 50s.
Who wrote that I didn’t quite catch it
Like that one alot
Do you play any John Phillip Sousa (on piano, of course)? might be interesting to hear your arrangements--could do an entire program of them....dts/usa
Loved the Cohan--you should do an entire night of his hits...along with Irving Berlin...dts/usa
Are you going to return to the Orbisonia Ragtime Festival this year: 2024? dts/usa
Tea for Two
Jelly roll

Swanson plays lots of nice rag literature but he just isn't an exciting piano player.
