Watched this while making my Edwardian inspired skirt. The struggles of small waist and bigger hips. I had to put darts in the back of my floor length A-line skirt where I have the added bonus of a sway back along with being pear shaped.
That's amazing! How is your skirt coming along? Tailoring to fit curves can be a real pain. I swear most of my mock-up process is either adding darts or deepening existing darts (and shortening everything 😂)
In theory, it just needs hemmed. I’m not completely happy with the waistband above the zipper. I’m putting it aside, for now, and going to mess around with a vest pattern. My husband says I’m being too picky.
I'm so glad I could offer some help! You can do this! And just remember to take it slow, I sometimes get so excited that I rush through a project and that's when I make the most mistakes 😶. And have fun with it!!
I’m in Portland too! ❤️ I mean. Close enough to drive to. Maybe we can meet up for costuming some time once this most recent drama has passed. Are you part of the Time Traveler’s Costume Guild?
I'd love to meet a fellow costumer! Is there a time period you focus on? I'm so new to this that I haven't really settled into any specific era haha I love it all! I can't say I've heard of the time traveler's guild 🤔 sounds like fun though!
Tuscany Posey the TTCG is awesome. It’s got an annual fee of like. $40? Or so. And you get in to all of their events, invited to all of their stitch-n-bitch monthly events (this one last Sunday was virtual 😊) and discounts on certain things like fabric.com. My favorite era is later Victorian. 2nd bustle through Edwardian to the First World War. (1879-ish to 1918or so.) I also like the 30s for length and simplicity of clothes. Here and there other eras. But not a ton more. Any era that has jumped out at you a lot, even if you haven’t chosen one?
That sounds awesome! I'll check it out. 😄 I've always loved 1940s/1950s fashion and that's usually what I stick to when going to work or for a night out. Though the more I get into historical dress the more I find myself drawn to earlier periods. I really love late Victorian (1880s & 1890s) but I also am a big fan of mid 1700s. Haha and Emma definitely inspired me to delve into Regancy too 😂 (loved that movie)
I’m loving you ,your sewing and your channel, but could you maybe stop the loud piano music ? , it really puts me off watching, I didn’t stop but had to adjust sound all the time , but I would love to subscribe and stay ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you 😊 I am still learning how to edit and I try to make the music level with my speaking volume. So I will try adjusting it to make it more even. Thanks for the feedback!
I love your videos. I live in Salem, Oregon. It was wonderful to hear that you also live in Oregon. I am also new to sewing. Take care. 😊

I don't think that's picky at all! It's so important to take the time to make a garment that you are happy with. 😄
Skirt looks awesome! Lovely! Thanks for sharing the video! ❤️
Thank you! The support means so much!
Thank you! This was helpful for getting the skirt pattern right in my head. I'm attempting to make one this week, pray for me '~'

I live in Portland too. Nice to meet you!
Hello fellow Portlander!
Hey! I’m in NW Portland! I hope you’re taking advantage of this chilly June and wearing your skirt!
The weather has been insane!! I've been working on some summer dresses, but it looks like summer might be on hold at the moment 😂
Tuscany Posey we had a massive hailstorm yesterday!
This is rad!
thank you!! 😍😍
Hello fellow Oregonian! I'm a little south of Portland.
Hello! And welcome!
