    Nice presentation. I have to do the exact same repair on my '89 Bronco. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on a few questions. Thank you so much for any help you can give.
    - what gauge steel did you use?
    - is there any value to heating the metal with something like a propane or map gas torch during the forming of the acute corners or would that light the buck on fire?
    - how smooth does the finished flange have to be so that the windshield can mount and not leak?

    • @DGRetroCustoms
      @DGRetroCustoms  Год назад

      Thank you. For this car I used 0.8mm steel but you need to match what you have, having a little heat can be benificial but not essential, over heating can cause more problems than not heating at all, you really want to get the panel as smooth as possible but it doesnt have to be perfect, remeber once its ground back it is likely to need a skim of filler and them primer and paint so any imperfects can be rectified at that stage.

      its not galvanised its electroplated and cleans of real easy for welding, almost all pattern repair panels are electroplated

      It doesn't flash rust like bare steel...i used similar coated metal for sign fabricating...it welds nice..you usually grind areas to weld first....not galvanized metal from my viewing....

    This very wrong put a shim at joins and don't use galvanised sheet the shim under the joint will let you put a good weld on

    • @DGRetroCustoms
      @DGRetroCustoms  2 года назад

      shimming it will only put the panel out of alignment or do you mean a spreader plate if so it is extremely unnecessary
