One of the most iconic whistles of the steam age, the Nathan 6 chime. The whistle has a fabricated steel bell and a cast brass base. www.RizzoliLocomotiveWorks.com
Now imagine, these whistles are extremely similar to the ones NYC Hudson’s, Mohawks and other oddball engines wore. What a sight it’s be to see one blasting a 6 like this
@@VT29steamtrain thanks for that, I was curious actually what whistles they did have. Actually after replying, I found on Mark O'malleys refreshing memories site that the SAR indeed had a 6 chime whistle. It's amazing the contrast 621 and RX 207's whistles when they run double header though
Greatest whistle of all time. Hands down.
Pere Marquette 1225 and Nickel Plate Road 765 are the right kind of locomotives to have that whistle!
The Nathan 6 chime has such an melodic sound

there are videos of a articulated train using a nyc 6 chime, it sounds similar to it
Very similar to an SP 6 chime. Beautiful sound!
Yea it does
sounds like an atsf 6 chime
The atsf 6 Chime and sp 6 chime actually differ from each other
Are you southern 4449?!?
BEAUTIFUL sound!!
Minus the 6 chime, I have the same name as a whistle, and it is by far my favorite one
whistle go AAAAAOUUUUUHHGG
0:22 Now I'm convinced that NYC Hudsons did use Nathan 6 chimes
They actually used K5LA Whistles
@@CoreythelordoftheIslesNo??? Source please because I've never heard anything say they used anything other than Nathan 6 chimes and NYC 6 chimes
@@daniko4447 well it’s kinda one that sound similar to 1225
@@CoreythelordoftheIsles I've never seen a NYC Hudson sound like a PM 1225
@@daniko4447 well idk then

0:23 Does this not remind you of that one video of the SP 6?
Yeah! I know what clip your talking about!
America by Rail volume 1! It's what introduced me to V&T 29!
This sounds like a proper NYC hudson whistle
How about a Sierra Railway 5 chime?
Is this Rx207 or V&T 29!
I have a feeling Rx 207 is a Nathan 5 chime. I know the 600s and most likely 500 and 700s had Nathan 5s
@@nathandunn5076 Rx's and 720s had Nathan 6 chimes, also known as 1030-a-963 as well as 1 F class, 620s, 520s etc had Nathan 5 chimes.

@@nathandunn5076 yes, that was what I was saying, certain locos have 5 chimes, others had 6 chimes
Should get a whistle like that for 482 and a Reading 6 Chime for 486
