I've become so hyper-sensitive to anything woke that I barely watch TV anymore, let alone go to the theater, I have read a lot more books, exercised more, and gotten better sleep. Thanks woke Hollywood.
Same here. But when I do watch something it’s usually something made before 2010. Thank God there is so much content made before 2010 that I don’t have to watch anything new.

I mean a lot of these streaming services are already deleting episodes of shows like "it's always sunny." Etc.. Eventually the only way you're gonna be able to watch unaltered originality is if you own the dvd from back in the day, or it's downloaded before they do the editing.

I found a full set of Little Rascals/Our Gang DVDs for my family, which contained everything that got cut out by the 60s and 70s for supposed racism but it was really just good humor. I also found a full set of Amos 'N' Andy, a cute TV sitcom from the 50s that was the first all-black production (but now that's "racist" LOL).
Consumers have developed an allergic reaction to it.
That's why I can't stop watching movies from before 2012, they used to be so much better that it's almost incomparable with todays movies.

Golden age Hollywood had so much mystique, intrigue and otherworldly vibes to it. We saw the stars playing stars, we knew little about their lives behind the inage. The films were original and made with care. It was pure escapism, not agenda social media promoted recycled garbage, whilst stars post superficial rainbows on their Instagram and bang on about 'i support/stand by blah blah blah....' like anybody cares as thry preach from their ivory towers. As a straight white male I would be happy to watch a movie based on african history or mythology with mosly black women, if:
A) its good
b) it stays true to the actual history or mythology
c) its genuine and not political

I knew that as a child and even if I didn't who cares! Never once in my childhood as a little black girl did I ever want her to look like me. As someone who’s been disabled for the majority of my life, I have fought to be thought of as a regular person who just happens to have a disability. Now apparently, my only value is being disabled. I've been to the movie theater four times in the last 25 years - twice for my kids and twice for my wife. I prefer watching older movies and TV shows on RUclips and DVD. The experience is made all the more enjoyably by a large screen TV, recliner, and lack of woke idiology (no, that's not a typo).

I was invited to a friend's house to watch the OSCARS some 20 years ago. Haven't watched them since. Now, I have a hard time finding a movie from Hollywood in the past 5 years that I think is worth watching. So, I've been watching old black and white movies from the 20's to the 50's (some in color) and foreign films.
I think we are all getting sick of what woke Hollywood actors and professional sports figures think! They are just overpaid entertainers for heaven's sake nothing more! We can't even really on our politicians to protect us anymore.
I’m a Hispanic man. When I was younger, I wanted to be like Superman. Superman has always been white. When I saw Blade, I wanted to be like blade. Blade is a black man.

More films and shows are shot in Atlanta and Nashville now than in Hollywood. So it's happening.
So true. We have a few new movie studios in our area of Georgia. We already had a few, but now the movie business is exploding in Georgia. I’m glad to see it! We’ve gotten used to parts of down town being closed off due to filming and seeing some movie stars around town. It’s becoming commonplace. We got used to it by living very near Senoia where they filmed The Walking Dead for years. Who really needs Hollyweird anymore?
Woke is not failing. Sure, there are some movies with a toned down or non-existent political message that become commercial successes, like this year's Top Gun Maverick and the new Super Mario movie. But that doesn't mean that the executives at Paramount or Universal have suddenly become conservative and want to promote traditional and healthy values. For every Top Gun Maverick, there will still be ten films of woke extremism produced.
Or if you look at the controversy surrounding Bud Light and the reactions to their choosing to be represented by a trans person. Sure, sales were down, but people were only buying beer from other global brands as woke as Bud Light. Boycotting companies that stand for woke values would only work if there were alternatives available from non-woke companies, and by and large, no such alternatives exist.
My favorite film of last year was The Banshees of Inisherin and most people hated it or didn't understand it.

By all means, buy the DVD of Top Gun; Maverick if you cannot stream it. Being a fan of the first Top Gun, a buddy took me to Maverick and it was absolute GOLD! The best fun I've had in the cinema in ages. Good old fashioned entertainment, with some of the best REAL flying ever done in a movie, full stop.
New actors are self absorbed narcissistic woke and spoiled brats that don’t even resemble the real iconic stars of old. Mostly women, girls and gay looking teenage boys 😂

I'm a 60 year old Hispanic American and I grew up watching all the great movies that were produced before and after I was born. When watching a movie (regardless of the genre) the audience is seeking to be entertained period! You will lose your audience if you do not deliver an excellent story line, great acting and awesome cinematography. Exclusivity is a must for those individuals working behind the scenes, but should not include those working as an entertainer. All entertainers whether they are actors, musicians, sculptures, painters, writers etc. Are measured based on the quality of their craft and talent PERIOD! You have something that you are trying to sell to an audience, and it has NOTHING to do with the color of your skin unless you are making it about that. The audience and or the fan base will determine whether or not they wish to purchase what that Artists is producing. This is known as the market place and is also determined by supply and demand. The consumer will continue to purchase the product as long as it is of the same quality and interest to the consumer. This is also the case in the product world...we buy what we like. Clothing, merchandise, vehicles, furniture etc. Why are movies like "Ben Hur" 1959 version still a better movie to watch over the movies of today? The quality of the acting, the storyline and the cinematography.
If only we could get Hollywood to classify 'Competent' as an underrepresented group, this would actually work.

But that doesn't mean that the executives at Paramount or Universal have suddenly become conservative and want to promote traditional and healthy values. For some odd reason, I really truly believe Tom Cruise's pre-movie thank you/ welcome back message was genuinely sincere. After watching “Sound of Freedom”, I cannot watch movies anymore. I tried a couple of times and gave up. All I could think while watching was, were actors some of the ones who harm children? Who enslave children? Can’t support them anymore.
The only thing missing from those "standards" is actual talent or merit. As long as everyone's the right color and uses the right pronouns, tho.

It feels like if one day, I gotta clean my house, and I have to be forced to consult the whole neighbourhood, who then established a committee whose sole purpose is to establish a committee that outsourced 5 committees located in India to find and discover 5 other committees in Indonesia whose job is to find 10 consulting firms that can offer me consulting advice on how best to clean a home, without actually performing the cleaning themselves, and then I have to find a law firm to draw up the contract with this consulting firm, and of course every other committee upstream of that, before ever embarking on cleaning my home. Used to be a massive movie fan and blu-ray collector and I don't buy anything these days. I'm being truthful here I can stream any movie or show I want for free and I don't even bother with 90% of them. They're so woke and miserable they're not even worth watching for free. I watched half of the new Scream the other night and it was feminist trash. The woke comedy moments were miserable and depressing. Watched 20 minutes of Ant man that was garbage . I did enjoy Creed 3 though and Picard S3

yep, blacks and gays are certainly not "underrepresented" in media, not for several years now. Asians and Hispanics have an arguement.
Studies show black and white people are overrepresented in media, most other minorities are underrepresented, specially Hispanics. I don't know specifically about Hollywood movies.
My follow up questions would be "who decides when there is enough underrepresented and that they are represented enough? and then do you look around for another group that isnt represented enough? maybe there are not enough cats in films so we should make more cat films...maybe there are not enough redheaded people so we should make more movies including them?..where does it all end?

I live out in the country and before we moved we were saving for retirement. I haven't been to a theater since 2005.
Th one and only theater movie I have seen since 2019 is "Top Gun: Maverick".
Covid and other respiratory viruses are still there. I'm not taking the risk to watch by the checkmark mediocrity.
I haven't been to a theater since Sept. 2018. Going to the movies became a luxury I couldn't afford. Nothing has changed in that regard either.
This makes me feel better about the fact that I use the Captain Jack Sparrow pirates code for anything I want to watch.
