The stuff about George C Scott had me rolling. My favorite George C. Scott moment -- Excorcist 3, where he's up thrown up against the wall and screams as only George C Scott can: "I believe in murder. I believe in pain. I believe in cruelty and infidelity. I believe in slime and stink and every crawling, putrid thing...." 😂
Bill - I work in front of a computer all day and the Ringer in my savior . You are the podcast messiah and Sean and Chris are the disciples . I’ll burst out laughing periodically during the day and get looks . Just couple requests : 1. Consider renaming Deion Waters award to Vinnie Johnson heat check award. 2. Put more of big picture podcasts on RUclips . I’ve seen all the rewatchables . Mahalo
Please do ‘The Burbs’ Imo any Oscar Tom Hanks won was actually to make up for him not winning for the ‘we’re the sick ones speech’ at the end of this movie!! Besides that ‘we got the Pizza Dude coming’ Love the show!
George C Scott to director Mike Nichols while they were working on the play “Uncle Vanya”: “Slap on your wig and get down to the theatre!” There has to be an anecdote where Scott doesn’t seem unpleasant to work with.
Seeing glasses of water next to laptops makes me squirm. Two years ago I knocked a bottle of water on top of my $3200 MacBookPro and fried it. I'm still scarred by it.
George C Scott is one of my all time favorite actors, Hardcore, The Hospital, Patton, Strangelove, The Changeling, The Exorcist 3 and even as a smaller role as the grandpa in Angus, he always brought it and breathed a masculine strength into his characters
What's age the worst, Ramada telling Jake he should break into the business by directing kiddie pron first. I don't know if that's how they referred to barely legal stuff back then, but it could be the worst business advice ever given.
that 60s hangover was drenched in spite and duplicity. you had the Nixon/Cheney/Ford/Reagan/Bush cabal emerging in the background and conservative think tanks and political action catching the naive democrats flat-footed. the rock-rib conservatives had faced a generation of new liberal ideas dawning in fields like psychology and critical theory being made possible by widespread middle class life, education, and the dawning of technology. They were sour. They took the liberal ideas then still in cribs and not sussed out, and instead gave them budget approvals and rollouts inside the machine of conservative strongholds like prison management. Try the liberal ideas out in some places designed to fail and then declare them dead was a big part of the social scene. Inherent in that was the government letting drugs run amock and be tied to crime so government could get some leverage. Flooding the liberal idealistic utopian hippy cities with hopeless capitalism made their peace and love slash sex drugs and rock and roll lifestyle into the palliative treat they get for obeying The System/Man/Machine for forty hours a week. Fighting against a social-democratic western-european style society was the focus of the energy, effort, and expense of our lives back then, if you recall. A few Bronson, Eastwood, Commy-fighting movies later, and you had the old-head generation succeeding in turning back the Boomer generation's initial idealism. Now that same idealism has been reborn a second time in the 1990s and a third time today. Hopefully we don't get duped and tranq'd again as a society by the fascists one more time, but it does look like the internet won't suffice to cease that sick cycle.
This is not a researchable with a movie no one knows or even bother to search for. OMG why why recent episodes all about movies only a handful rewatches
Fuck yes. I learned my lesson now to NOT listen to the audio, because I know the video is coming shortly... Thank you Ringer team.
Am I the only one who goes to the audio version right after to hear the signoff? Probably, right?
Yes. You are the only one.
I usually wait for the video. Its usually released within 2 days of the audio
Thank you, gents, for another classic episode. I had no idea about this movie until I watched it the other day. Love the pod!
One of the most 70s film ever filmed in the 1970s. It's not perfect but I love every moment of it.

he was a great actor
George C. Scott made this and the Changeling a year later. Both movies are master classes in acting.
1:20:00 CR doing his best work
absolute banger. great movie and great pod
1:14:08 to see Bill’s heart break when he finds out it’s “Juizzum Jim” not “Jim Jizzum”
George C. Scott was a legend. That is all.
Reb Brown's claim to fame is starring as "Slab Hardchunk" in Space Mutiny -the best episode of Mystery Science Theater 2000 ever!
It's a top 5 episode for me. Hard to beat "Werewolf", "Future War" and "The Final Sacrifice" though.
Thank you Bill Simmon.....just thank you

Best Wayne Jenkins yet
I love that there was absolutely no pre roll. Really brought the bit back to life.

That and Dressed to kill
They just did it today. 🙂
Haha yeah and it was an all time episode.
"Please... my father is Mr Jism, call me Jim"
Great ep, per usual
How the hell was Reb Brown your "That Guy" and you did not even mention Bold Bigflank, Splint Chesthair, Flint Ironstag or Bolt Vanderhuge?
The best episodes include mentions of The Combat Zone in Boston.
Best rewatchables since alien
4:22 Cruising reference
Please do ‘The Burbs’

Featured in Tarantino's book.
Did they pull the Magnolia episode?
I hope they someday invite someone like Joe Dante or another iconic old time cult director to do a podcast. I’m sure he would do it

Here's to the end of Rock Bottom Month. Nowhere but up for all of us sickos.
Great movie, though I actually prefer Vice Squad which is more rewatchable - amazing performances by Season Hubley and Wings Hauser.
Hell yeah, Ramrod is an all-time legendary pimp and villain.
He comes from the Neon Slime!
The Rock Bottom month was such a downer that Bill ended it a week early. Thank goodness! Back to actual rewatchables
Goddamn. Ok. Wasn’t expecting this one to show up. 8mm next?
They already did 8MM
Manchester by the Sea tough beat dad all time Goat
The holy trinity doing what they do best 😀
Pulp Fiction anniversary coming up... Just saying ✌
"Turn it off.
