This video is so refreshing. I’m also a professional violinist & am changing careers because of the exact things you mentioned! I still actively freelance in NYC but I am so much happier now than I was when pursuing a full time performance career.
I have lived in London for about 18 months when I was 19 years old. It was a challenging experience for me but it is a great place for living. it is good to see you on RUclips.

New York is one of the most awful horrible dirty dangerous cities in the world. It is so polluted that when you come home there is visible dirt stuck on your clothing. Nobody will say the truth but that is the truth. I'm so glad she went back to Europe

Btw., Sumina, if you should read: if the red "atomic mushroom" night lamp next to your bed is not opaque, you should check it for radioactivity. It looks a bit like "fiestaware", that's a red glazed ceramics that gets it's crazy colour from uranium pigments. The relatively strong radiation can be quite unhealthy if you have it every night for many hours close to you. If it' s from glass or plastics you are safe :-)

Good idea. There's no money being a performing classical musician. It's just a struggle. If you manage and book groups of musicians for gigs, concerts, weddings, studio, TV, film, theater, funerals, baptisms etc., you can make some decent money. Build up your roster of musicians that you can sell to the public. You can even play violin in a quartet or as a soloist from time to time for fun at an event. You can book musicians for all kinds of gigs. Most musicians are terrible at the business side of music, so that's also where the money is. Good luck.
(7:01)- If you really want to know 'what life is all about', I'd recommend a couple books: "The Reason for God" by Tim Keller "Don't Waste Your Life" by John Piper Hopefully this will be enlighting particularly within an 'identity crisis'.✌

I am surprised Sumina Studer was born in Zurich, live in a London apartment and studies violin in Juilliard school in New York. Is she graduated ? It’s looks like she lives everywhere in the world. Where is Sumina home now to take a rest . She is not Wonder Woman.
Who wants to play in a professional orchestra? You always work when your friends have free. It's a torture for your body. And after very few years you play only after "Tarifvertrag". Who wants to be a touring soloist? Permanent jet lag, always far from home. You get out of your taxi, say hello, eat a sandwich, play your concert and disappear during the break not to miss your flight. Nice if you do it for a few years, but then...? I am so impressed by student's orchestras or solo performances, but I never was that impressed from listening to a professional who was for longer in his/her job. You hear that they play because it's their job, and you hear the jet lag. So maybe it was a good choice to put the focus on something different. Life is about having fun and exploring.
I love BBC, so glad you could record with it! I don't swing that way, but you're a woman, so.... I can understand it.. BBC is such a good recording channel, well... I mean topic...
