I like how the song name can be taken both as "singing" (as in burning hot), and "singing" (as in singing a song) because its as if the sand is singing to you.
Damn....That's an awesome thought.
@@chuck_salamone when the composer surprises themself
@@chuck_salamone It really was a bruh moment
Singing sand is a real phenomenon
“Raised on a steady diet of poolwine, even the most belligerent of Wayne larvae may be transformed into harmless Warpos.”
Excuse me, but WHAT?
On another note, why are Warpos referred to as “harmless?” They literally self destruct
@@The_WumboTM The one who refers to them as harmless is part of the gibby fanatics of odozeir's group, they probably are harmless to them only
IMO Warpos are so mutated that they become mindless (and suicidal? idk)
So they will never grow into adult Wayne who is far much stronger and become another potential enemy for Gibby, hence rendered 'harmless'.
I like the implications that _someone_ fed a larva wine to find that out, intentionally or not.
“Hey, cool Wayne thing you have there. Where’d you get it?”
“Oh, I just gave this baby some of my wine.”
alcohol will prevent you from becoming anything in life if you let it take control of you
i cannot understate how much the ost adds to this game
I really fucking appreciate that.
Flet like jumping in n out of dominations
Walk in snake way mile to whatever out there

Teaming up with a professional musician was the best decision you have ever made.
Having Mason consider me as a collaborator for this project (and future endeavors) has been so rewarding. He has helped me grow as an artist exponentially. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to compose music that embellishes his art.
@@chuck_salamone as a random fan excited to see the real Chuck- just want to say I hope I get to hear your music on more games if not another one of Mason's projects. Hylics, especially 2 is inspiring. Developed so recently, by so few hands, and it's iconic! Big thanks to both of you for the work you do. It's great stuff.
[Slaps horrifyingly mutated Wayne]
Never played the game, but for sure listen to this OST when taking solo hikes w/ edibles. Totally adds to the journey haha
My god, man... this game is... just such an experience, I don't even know how to say it but this game just inspired me creatively in such a way that I never thought anything would, thank you Mason and Chuck you guys made something that surely will carry with me.
Thank you for the kind words. Mason and I appreciate that. Go forth and make great things. We hope our collaboration on the music for Hylics 2 continues to provide you with inspiration uhhh...forever!
@@chuck_salamone have you guys thought about making physical copies of music?
So happy Vinny likes this one
I got here ready to take on the world, but in the strangest way this song hit me with dread no other final lair theme could. I just froze. It's so chill, but intimidating beyond belief.
Agreed. Listening to the soundtrack in full lately, and I keep coming back to Singing Sand. Something about the step of the beat at a minute ish in... I don't know. I get this feeling like there's a path being carved before me. Do I walk it?
This song fills me with existential dread. But in a good way, somehow... It's that one special, majestic feeling one simply cannot describe
I like how part of this song sounds like a more sinister version of Xeno Arcadia. The entire song sounds so chill but also strangely intimidating, which fits the location it plays in.
The glory of the Age of Sages vs the contemporary reality of what remains
I notice the almost the same chord prog at 0:59 is used in Xeno Arcadia, That's a Big Stick and maybe a couple other tracks, almost like an audio motif that keeps you grounded throughout the game. Cool stuff, great work.
“Ladies and gentlemen...they got ‘em!”
Leitmotifs are great mannnnn
All of the songs on this ost sound so interesting and unique on their own, but picking up on those leitmotifs makes it mindblowing
@@chuck_salamone its like you're a musical genuis, or you're lazy, or both, mostly both
@@marcoaguiar2619 ask Wagner. he sort of "invented" the usage of leitmotifs in opera, sooooo yeah. he ded, tho.
I need to own the hylics soundtrack on vinyl
agreed.
Me too

this is the ONE hylics song i cant play in my car as loud as i normally would bc this song is _aaaaalllllll_ bass
Hehehe, sorry, not sorry.
project the waves unto others, and observe as their presences are mulched
Imaging the desert began to dance like waves. Fascinating.
Have you come to witness the reconstitution? Ah, what a time to be alive.
THIS song. This song HITS. WHEN I WAS PLAYING HYLICS 2 FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS FILLED ME WITH SUCH ANXIETY BUT IT'S SO GROOVIN
I still haven't gotten around to playing the game yet, but I keep coming back to this soundtrack. It's wibbly wobbly in a way that most chill music isn't and I love it.
fitting desert/hot sand theme. feels like being in an arid Arizona summer and watching the concrete contort and twist from the rising heat vapours. also tfw the sand sings
As a person from Tucson, this theme fits the desert way too well. Plus the clay houses, crazy people, weird plant life and animals - I might as well be living in the Hylics world :)
I don’t know how but it took me until my 5th playthrough to find the cursed gloves
God that metallic guitar sound that plays at the start of every bar sounds good
that's the first ost that i heard from hylics 2. spotify randomly added this to my shuffle and i was really obsessed with it. this sountrack was the reason that i bought hylics & hylics 2 and here we are. i couldn't thank more for making this game & ost, game turned out to be the best gaming experience i've ever had! so thank you for making this ost:)
that 0:58 just hits so different but so good
@Layne Krusz Ahh yes, we meet once again, trombolibones
I've been humming this tune quite awhile. So chill
I haven't played the game (yet!) but I'm already in love with this soundtrack
This one is my favorite.
I read someone called Mason Lindroth's art 'timeless' today. I think Chuck Salamone's music in the game is just as much. It's almost like a 70s psychedelic rock sound but better than any of that. Almost like a water level from Super Mario 64, almost like No Quarter from Led Zeppelin..? I can only say 'almost like' because nothing is quite like it. I'd love a guitar tab for these chords.
Thank you for this comment. I really appreciate all of that.
Both games worth playing. Top notch indie game experience.
I didn't know you released the game! Gonna get it Friday. I hope your song uploads generate a lot of traffic / sales.
probably my favourite song in the game, I only just found out singing sand was a real phenomenon, and when I heard the sound it made I just though "damn this would make a good hylics sample" :^)
God I love that wavy guitar that so many tracks in this game use
Thank God this place had phenomenal music! Every second of trudging through it was horrendous.
The one dislike is a person who tried to listen to this on acid.
I just noticed the theme for Diglett's Cave really sounds like Hylics music. Specifically it reminded me of this track
The beginning of this song has always reminded me of Cleyra's Trunk from Final Fantasy IX.
What a nice song
I really needed this
Excellente Al dente
the guitar sounds a bit like the guitar in No Quarter by led zeppelin
Nice! I definitely tried to channel those psychedelic vibes.
Glad Im not the only one thinking this.
I really hope Chuck and Mason keep working together, the combination of experimental prog rock and bizarre setting are what makes this one of my favorite games.
ME, TOO!
@@chuck_salamone You da best, Chuck!
this song (especially the intro) makes me think of being in a desert at night specifically.
Bingo. That’s the vibe, although, I wrote this song initially for the sage room theme. Mason wanted to to be for a whole bigger area (foglast) instead!
The intro to this song could very well be on a Pink Floyd's song
Hylics 2's soundtrack is peak sex music
hylics 1 sex ost is just draw a dog looped
i listen to this song when exploring in games and its a fuckin ethereal experience
This winter, if there is a blizzard in NJ, I'm going outside and bumping this shit, lol.
@@chuck_salamone love that, for lack of a better word I can think of right now, confidence in ya own work, lmao. That sounds great
@@hiphyro I'm so far removed from it now that I genuinely don't even sound like this anymore. It doesn't feel like I made it, but I suppose that's what happens with the passing of time.
best song right here
The beginning really sounds like Rogue Encampment theme from Diablo 2
Will the OST be available for purchase at any point?
Yes. Bandcamp soon. All streaming platforms in less than two weeks!
Chuck Salamone I am the friend he is asking for
Heavy vibes
Psychadelic Tristram vibe
No Quarter by Led Zeppelin. It has to be an inspiration for this soundtrack.
Hey mason, do you think could release a extended version of singing sands?
