We saw these guys last night and talked to Charity & Josiah afterward. I mentioned the Doe Bay Sessions & that these 2 songs were my husband's and my favorites. She exclaimed "How do you know about that!?" I love how they don't even seem to realize how popular they are. She was all friendly-but-slightly-shy smiles and gratitude. Then she hugged me after we spoke. She hugged me, not the other way around. I knew they were great musicians, but now I'm impressed with them as human beings as well.
@@radagascar1 they’re just not the same :( I mean, the new stuff was cool, but these were their best, something was missing… hope someday can hear these once again
I cannot possibly love this group more. HUGE THANK YOU to my co-worker for telling me about them. Absolutely beautiful harmonies that speak to my soul.
It was the same when I saw them in Sweden. I hadn't seen the Doe Bay session at that point, but from meeting them, I'm sure their response would have been the same level of gratitude. They're lovely people.
I'm glad you enjoyed the show, too. We're seeing them again in August and the show is early enough that we might take our toddler. She loves their music. I can't wait!
I could just lay down there & listen to them play all day & all night long..better yet, have them sing by the fire place during the summer night. oh mann.....
You're obviously under the age of 50, so I don't expect your generation to appreciate PP&M's music. It was not just the music, it was the time, it was my life, it was my Mom singing their songs, it was everything. Their harmonies were amazing, nothing like that today.
The beauty of the internet. I hope they release these songs before too long. I'd love to be able to sing along to them in my car. :) I'm glad I mentioned this to them. I just hope one day I can make it to Doe Bay Fest!
The Head and the Heart were here in Montreal last month, but I only found out about their music yesterday! :'( They are amazing, and I will experience their music live one day. I will.
This is by far one of the most raw and best bands out there right now. You don't hear music like this all to often anymore. I first heard "Oh Virginia" live in Richmond, VA and it nearly brought me to tears. Thank you for doing the Doe Bay Sessions. This is what music should be about.
I love the way Oh Virginia sounds, with those amazing voices, and the banjo. One of the best songs I've heard in a long time. Congrats to The Head and the Heart.
I've been listening to this over and over and over again every day since I've heard/seen it. It's so inspirational and beautiful and full of wonder. Pure pure ecstasy.
p.s. They played 4 new songs, in addition to tracks on their cd and Josh McBride. (No Oh, Virginia, though. They said it's not ready yet.) I can't wait until the other songs are available! The full band version of Josh McBride blew us all away! Even the men had chills.
Coworker walked up and give me tickets to the Florence + the Machine show, for which The Head and the Heart opened. They were better than Florence! Really neat to see these videos from Doe Bay - I love kayaking through that area. Next time I'm there, I'm just gonna think how unbelievably awesome it would be to just kayak up to a live show from one of my favourite bands.
Listening to this kind of beautiful music brings some sort of calmed ease to the flow of my stressed dramatic days. I would listen to The Head and The Heart every night, if I could. I may even learn a portion :)
(Lyrics:) JOSH MCBRIDE Came to the cold just to see you Standing there in expectation Pulling coat and blue eyes staring Oh, this vision does me good. In the city we don't know yet Across the bridges not yet burned Where the ice won't let us further Wind our way down through the woods. Take me to the attic ladder In the barn with broken floors With your boots of spanish leather And my hat knit out of yarn And my hat knit out of yarn. You are in the seat beside me You are in my dreams at night You are in grandmother's wisdom You are in grandfather's charm. Show me your trees in the orchard With the music on their branches Keep them from the mouths of creatures Who intend for them no good. Take me out past the wind break Speak the thing you could not utter, When we'll howl and moon will cower At the magic of the word. Oh, oh. Darling this is when I met you. For the third time not the last Not the last time we are learning Who we are and what we were. You are in the seat beside me You are in my dreams at night You are in grandmother's wisdom You are in grandfather's charm. OH VIRGINIA Oh, Virginia, I never thought it'd be Oh, Virginia, I never thought it'd be your face Calling out my name Calling out my name, you're calling my name Now I'm a stranger in someone else's home And all that I'm asking for is a place to call my own Just a place to call my own Just a place to call... Call home Oh, Virginia, your ghosts are running free Oh, Virginia, your ghosts are chasing after me And they're calling out my name And they're calling out my name, they're calling my name Now I'm a stranger, oh [x6]
Oh Virginia is simply on of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. And if it doesn't go on iTunes soon everything I hear is going to start to sound ugly.

I keep coming back to the Doe Bay Sessions year after year. Do you still listen now, and what do you think of their new directions?
2019 and wish their music was still like this...

Most heart touching songs. This group is and has been, in my favorite's column for...since their beginnings.
Wow I think this is their best version of Virginia, I've had goosebumps during the all song !!
me too
I find that humble, down to earth musicians often make the best music, because they have nothing to proove. This band is no exception.
Hauntingly beautiful. Magnificent male/female harmonies.
Really love this. Been listening for years
Why is no one commenting on the fact that they're using pebbles and water as percussion?
Just beautifully done!
Was just thinking about that.
This right here is why they're the best thing to ever come out of Seattle
But.. Fleet Foxes
But... Jimi Hendrix
But...Heart

I love being from Washington, such great music and artists come from this state.
I just woke up o this playing, pretty effin' epic!
I don't think I have ever, ever loved a band this much.

Been a fan for eight years and now just hearing “Virginia” for the first time and I can’t stop crying. Thanks guys. Nice to meet you all 💜
Beautiful and Brilliant.....A harmony that stirs the soul.
Virginia is amazing. So happy they played that. Love you guys. And Seattle. And THATH.
These songs are both so beautiful, it makes my heart hurt.
Wow, I just sang my heart out at the end of that song, I think i'll do it again:)
I've been listening to this over and over and over again every day since I've heard/seen it. It's so inspirational and beautiful and full of wonder. Pure pure ecstasy.
this kind of talent should be on the mainstream music scene. lovely
Essas duas canções tocaram meu coração profundamente! Obrigado pelas lindas canções, curto muito o som de vocês! Amo 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Me and my hubby's fav song to sing together while he plays guitar...💙💙💙😥
I can’t forget where the first started. I’m in tears
I’m really gonna miss this man 😢
Well that was incredible
Amazing. The pebble rhythm was a nice touch. Both songs are incredible, and Oh Virginia is quickly on it's way to being a favorite.

You guys are AWESOME!
Personally, I think "Virginia" is their best song! I can't believe they don't have it on any albums? Is it on any EP's?
Been searching for an answer to this question for years!! I agree.
Yeah that's weird!
Another Story is the best song

This is the best band out right now (in my opinion).

Simply amazing.....
It is absolutely wild this is 8 years ago already
This is so amazing that dude in the brown hat looks in jeopardy of blowing his carotid artery. All in the name of organically awesome music.
I cried.
Always Beautiful The Head and the Heart *-*.
I love how he wears 3 different patterns together and no one gives a shit
Yes
Beautiful.

They are! Sept. 30th at Cains Ballroom
how sweet would it be to be sitting there with them
wow. those rocks. oh god, those rocks.
I disagree, the mainstream idiots wouldn't appreciate this amount of creativity and talent. This is simply too good for mainstream.

'now im a stranger"
they need to put these songs on iTunes.

It's in the description there it's called "Josh McBride"

Why isn’t this pearl on Spotify?!!
agreed, i dont think this would be appreciated by the masses, theres a depth to it that people are too afraid of.
my effin goodness
such livity :)
qué buena banda, loco!!
I'm just wondering how many people from Fort Collins are watching this.... That woman reminds me of the chick with the baby who works at the Alley Cat
perfect
MUITO BOM MESMO
They are at the forefront of revitalizing folk music. Kinda a combination of the Kingston Trio, Peter, Paul, and Mary, and Simon & Garfunkel
