As others have mentioned, dealers will make or break this car. This is a great car but with just a manual offering, the market for it is cut down quite a bit. Then at 65K with markups, there is tough competition from others, not to mention lightly used luxury or performance cars.
They're making it so you must really want the car to get it, and that is a recipe for a great, but short lived car when what we want is one that stays for a few generations at least.

Correction. A chassis dyno is not correct. It takes many calculated parameters into account. A dyno is a tuning tool that gives you the best estimate of hp and tq. Unless he pulled the engines and measured at the crank the wheel dyno could easily be off by 10hp.

Here in Vegas, I was able to buy my type a for only 2500 markup, they opted to pay me $250 for rebate check for my registration and added a couple extra weather protection items too, I was looking to get the type R originally and they weren’t budging from a 15k markup, 60k for a Type R or 55k for type S, I went for the ladder

For FWD on track, I trail brake to the apex to weight the front tires then get on the gas as soon as I reach a point after the apex where I can accelerate continuously and smoothly without backing off. For discipline, I like to establish an exit RP where I have the throttle pinned.

And to be honest, the extra 20k for 505hp and AWD is worth every single penny. The GR Corolla, for $36k, which you can easily get at msrp, is by FAR the better value. For the price savings, you can have a 450whp monster with all the aftermarket bells and whistles... Better suspension, better exhaust, better turbo and cooling, better tires and wheels, and STILL be under the cost of a Type S.. I'm not personally a fan of pops and bangs in the exhaust. I do love the tone of it though. And I wish that car people would stop calling this and the CTR a hatchback, it's a lift back, not a hatchback. The angle of the rear glass is less than 45 degrees, hence a lift back. If greater than 45 degrees it's a hatchback, like the GR Corolla and Golf R. This drives me nuts the same way that people, and car people to be exact, don't pronounce Porsche correctly. It's 2 syllables, not one. 😍
