    We just got back from Greece a week ago. Love Naxos island, I would say the small village up in the mountain were the highlight of our trip. Also the birth place of Zeus hiking were pretty awesome!

    I visited Naxos for 4 days 1 year ago in the off-season and I felt that it was very very quiet, but I did find that the Naxos city area was the most interesting. I believe that all of the Greek Islands are super expensive in the high season, unlike 20 years ago when it was much more affordable.😊

    Great video! You can also get to Naxos by air. They have a small airport. We enjoy the ferry, however. And Apeiranthos is amazing. The village is made entirely of marble. Another note: you can hike to the top of Mt. Zas and you will be at the highest point in all of the Cyclades.

    naxos is a great greek island with more better prices than the other more famous island like paros,santorini,mikonos.I love naxos. But the best greek island is amorgos. You sure get in love with this place when you visit it.I am greek and i love amorgos. You could go there next time :)

      Take a jacket... We were there in May of 23 and had lows in the 50's (f) most of the time. NO ONE in the water and NO ONE on the beaches. I have a picture of Plaka beach without a sole on it, all 3.5km....Great time to explore as there are very little crowds. Some places in the Old Market are still closed for the off season. We still loved the place and will return in August this year... Have fun!

      Thanks for watching! We stayed quite far outside of Naxos City, and it definitely took a while to drive places (yes, we did rent a car) 😅 around Naxos City gets more expensive but it is probably much more convenient. Renting a car makes it much easier to see all of the mountain towns

      We have stayed right in Cora, the port city. Prices are a little higher, but EVERTHING you need is a short walk away. There is a public bus that runs from Cora to most of the west side beaches. Tickets are about 3 euros each way. The main bus stop is right at the port by the walk way up to Portara (the big arch doorway from the not completed temple of Apollo).

    i am greek and it saddens me that most tourists only know santorini and mykonos. I will tell you the truth. Both of these islands are not even affordable for greeks. They are tourist cashtraps . Especially mykonos. But i reckon that they sell the "views" . But for santorini yes, mykonos on the other hand is a cash tourist trap. Ask a greek about mykonos and he will tell you its an overrated overexpensive (ridicusly expensive) island catering only to celebrities and tourists. The same applies to Santorini which has views but its also expensive and overrated in my opinion but not like mykonos. Mykonos also has mafias drug related and other stuff and hence the high prices. But this wont be told on tvs or in sites like tripadvisor. There are many affordable and same quality wise islands. But tourists are afraid of them because they are not popular liks the aforementioned. My advice to tourists is ask a greek friend or colleague or whatever for islands to visit and dont trust the review sites online because the tourists write the reviews and not the locals who know the stuff. Just my 2 cents on the matter. Anyways good video and keep the good job.
    P.S Greece has the most beautiful mountains for winter hiking lovers etc . Of course as a country it is most well known for the islands but the mountain scene here is also good and i daresay better than the summer scene on the islands.
    P.S2 If you dont have a greek friend or whatever ask a question on the greek reddit site or other greek forums. People there are far more objective than tourist review sites because you will hear from the locals. Also when you are in greece be careful in taxis sometimes they rip you off even if you are greek (and the driver asks where are you from and you say a town far away ) he will maybe rip you off. I would suggest uber or free now taxi which basically calls taxi or call a taxi which is far from ports,train stations and airports. Taxis there have a higher rate than taxis 50meters more away.
    PS3 To get a gest of how expensive santorini and mykonos is i have not a single friend who has visited (for vacation) the islands i mentioned before because with the wages here they dont worth it .

      Thank you for all of the tips!! We always appreciate info from locals who actually know what to avoid! We loved Naxos and can’t wait to check out more islands! There are so many of them, it’s overwhelming! But yes, we don’t feel the need to return to Mykonos now ☺️

      We didn’t use scooters, so I’m not sure how that works as far as renting one. But, we saw plenty of them! Great way to get around the towns, but be careful on the windy mountain roads! 😅

      @MaxandSidney  11 месяцев назад +1
