I lived in America for 10 years as a foreigner. It's a very beautiful country when it comes to natural scenery and landscape but unfortunately with the worst system you can imagine. The American system doesn't provide tranquility, stability or a family friendly atmosphere. You live in constant fear of being sick, you live in constant anxiety, people are not mentally stable, people don't have time to appreciate the simple things of life... But American people are just people like anywhere in the rest of the world, you have the good, the bad and the ugly, the American government in the contrary is the most evil entity you can imagine, a crime syndicate run by psychopaths.
As an American I 100% agree with this. Living in the US is tiring and you do carry a lot of worry. Unless you're making a lot of money it really isn't a comfortable place living. Our support system is definitely garbage as well and is designed to keep you in poverty. The US government is corrupt to its own people and the world!
Just remember it is human behavior. It can happen anywhere with similar circumstances. Be careful where you go. Anyone that can leave the US permanently is lucky. Where I lived, in Montana, you can't make enough to move away once you're there. I now live in South America and am saving money every month because the cost of living is real, not inflated.

Its the special interests that support these wars. Its too bad that the US has to fund this nonesense. I like how Andrew finally mentioned American politics. The political atmosphere in America, the main reason I left, has stifled open conversations and ruined many relationships. I am not a millionaire but I wish Andrew would help me with my direction.
I love this man’s honesty and objectivity when he talks about the country he was born in. Few Americans seem able to use reasoning and intellect when discussing the US. Perhaps because so few of them travel abroad, in fact don’t even travel to the next state from where they live, it’s not within their capabilities to view America from any other perspective. The saying “travel broadens the mind” is so true. Add to that an old world dose of scepticism and a sense of irony, and perhaps more Americans might stray out of their bubble, and explore the big, wide world of which they are just a small part.
When I lived in Singapore, I didn't need to do any paperwork for my taxes, it was automatic. Now I live in Canada, and I'm (in the middle of) studying taxes, but I still can't understand government's website about taxes. I think something is wrong with taxes filing in North America (US & Canada). I suspect they purposely make it complicated to confuse people and create business.
It is also very complicated in Australia, every year they come up with new rules and alter existing rules, you must understand it well so that you won't be overtaxed. You may want to engage a tax specialist if you need help.
I moved to The USA 14 years ago because my American wife wanted to go home. We’re in CA so the sunshine is nice. Everything else has been a complete nightmare.
Sad to say. But this is only the beginning. Best sell what you've got while it's still worth something and move to east. Even Vietnam is better because there won't be war there.
My husband and I are planning to retire in Malaysia under MM2H. The cost and quality of living is much affordable. I am an America citizenship holder. I have been enjoying my last 33 years life in Southern California, USA. The currency exchange rate, the fresh air, the nature, jungle, beaches, mountain, the greenery nature, the vibes inspire us to set this goal to apply for retirement visa in Malaysia. The medical system is top notch. Malaysians are known for very friendly, hospitable, respectful, courteous, helpful. We are so excited. We will consider Sarawak MM2H.
I understand what Andrew is saying, although I am one of those average Americans who does not even come close to the wealth Andrew speaks about. My home is very basic, my taxes are the 1040EZ, my life is simple. My career provides me exposure to other cultures which I find interesting, we all seem to have similar life issues. Additionally, I live in far west Texas where some of the items discussed in this video are not what I see daily.
In the 60's in the UK there were just 150 registered heroin addicts, of course there were more that were not registered but if you went to a doctor (NHS) seeking help for your addiction then you would be checked to make sure you were a genuine addict and then you would be treated and prescribed your heroin dosage for free. Drug addiction was treated as a medical condition, not a criminal offence. Drug dealers couldn't compete with free and the police were not interested. Then in the 70's we got a big loan from a US bank and one of the conditions was that we adopt their 'war on drugs' policy. Addicts were criminalised, users lost their access to safe drugs so had to go to dealers who sold crap which killed the users. The number of adults entering treatment in 2020 to 2021 was 130,490.
That's a bunch of nonsense. If you want to talk about ignorance, talk to some Europeans and Asians that know nothing about what is going on not only in their countries but globally. I have lived extensively overseas so speak from personal experience.
It's not even about what's happening presently with the internal politics and culture. Any American with a conscience, who know their history and the atrocities their government has committed around the world should be deeply deeply ashamed.
I don't condone anything bad the US does, but I will not be walking around with my head down over stuff I can't control. Anyone outside of the US wishing ill of the average US citizen are just as ignorant as an American who has never left the country. What do I have to feel bad for? Being born on a certain part of earth? Do people outside of the US ever consider that US citizens have issues with their government as well and want to fix it? Also I love how the world pretends like the world was some peaceful place before the US. Sorry when the US declines the world will find another way to be abusive. We are just the "Target" today. Yesterday it was Britain and tomorrow will be China. The cycle is nothing to be ashamed of.
Why do you want to fix it when you say it has got nothing to do with you and you're supposed to feel nothing about it? Healthcare is a human right. 5 or 6 televisions, 4 cars, or 3 houses are not. Comforting to know that there are other countries that have great Healthcare systems too. So a foreigner like me can enjoy, while self paying.
If you can get a job in the US that you can't get at home, I'd consider it for a few years. The US is still a good place to get a few years of job experience.
He benefitted a lot from growing up in America, before he shipped out. The clarity of thought, skill in articulation, not beating around the bush, but getting to the point, unnafraid to state his views authoritatively are just some of the virtues he's equipped with, by virtue of being born in the USA. He shouldn't be too ashamed of his American heritage.
How do all the homeless and jobless people in American cities benefit from growing up in the US? He benefitted from having good, capable parenst, nothing to do with the country as such. What the US is doing is often shameful and hypocritical like banning Huawei, TikTok and stuff like that. They preached free trade when it suited them.
I respect his choice, and he has some reasoning behind it, but for the vast majority of citizens, even with a lot of money, it is not worth giving up US citizenship. The US has a large economy and is a global technology and innovation hub. So, a lot of companies invest in the US. Second, he said many of the reasons he have up citizenship was other than financial. Another clue. He was pay zero taxes for his foreign income. I'm in the same position as the guy and live in Dubai but report to the IRS. I pay practically nothing in tax but have substantial US assets. For all practical purposes its a non issue. Only some banks are picky about US citizens but you don't have to deal with them.
Cool interview !! I am a very very common person, just middle wage jobs, my experience not paying taxes, or paying 20% percent of taxes is not that important, how taxes are used for communities is more important i think. I am European, The Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Denmark- we pay a lot in taxes, but infrastructure is progressive and practical for everyone and paid by taxes, there is a realistic place for using science and technology, sometimes i think the US are very much behind in this. Dubai....has a very very dark side....I am also Asian.....And the way they treat Asians..Like only Arabs and White people are real people the rest is just someone to look down on, that is sadly also a big vibe in Dubai.
@gangapoornima Europe is a nice place to live an average or below average life because governments in Europe are generous with benefits. However, growth is very different and the economy is not at all dynamic. So, making good money is not easy.
@@impopquiz I don't know why he's making an issue about filling out paperwork for taxes because most in America go to someone to do the paperwork for them. If someone can't afford to pay someone to do it for them they do it on the internet. It's very simple. I'm pretty sure he has the money to hire someone so he's probably didn't fill out tax forms. All of my life--and I'm not young--the police in the US were some of the most helpful people in the US. I was followed a few times and just walking up to a police officer was very helpful. That is just one example. They have always been responsive and respectful from Colorado to Dallas to Washington, DC. I'm like you. I don't feel American. I would find it difficult to go back.
This is unique interview, we don’t hear much about how American society has its own problems. We hear problems from everywhere specially India. This is good change. Multi party democracy is required so extremes is prevented, also if you wanna have children emphasis on stable strong family for at least 20 years is required. Stable family unit for children helps society in general. Too much left or right becomes toxic. But this guy is more frustrated with taxes. Even Biden govt is taking them so what changes for him…
Unless its for money, few people from outside the US who are well-informed about its society and politics wish to move there. Desperate, impoverished migrants, fleeing from dangers in their home countries, clinging to outdated ideas of a young nation where its safe, free and welcoming - its just not (few places are) and are thus made the target of fear campaigns, treated cruelly and even if they get in - ruthlessly exploited. The US might be a great place if you're wealthy enough to be mostly immune from its systemic flaws but for ordinary folk the absurdly expensive healthcare, lack of workers' rights, endemic gun violence, overwhelming corruption, horrifying inequality, etc. turns the American Dream into a nightmare that few can wake up from. An exodus by those who are able to flee is entirely understandable (though vexing to those in their new home if they loudly and endlessly complain about the things that were "better at home").

Dude hates taxes I get it as an American I hate it too. However, I find the idea of dropping my passport every time i dont like a countries taxes impractical for most people. I think its way more beneficial for most Americans to fix where they live. Maybe work on getting the warmongers and wealth pillagers out of our government. I think after the decline (equalling out in a multi polar world) America will be a better place and more level head.
no, he hated the paperwork, not the taxes, because there are ways to reduce his taxes (since he lives overseas and his business is overseas too), but he couldn't stand the paperwork (because if he missed something, he could go to jail), that's why he gave up his US citizenship.
There is no perfect country. It's all about the money. America is still a place where there are opportunities to work and save money. With the money that you saved, you can be free from all systems in this world. Enjoy a simple life with your savings.
it is really the rent seeking behavior of the US government plus the destruction of public services that has made Americans frustrated. Taxes are super high but the quality of products and service is just average everywhere. For example, you pay a lot of property tax but you hardly get the government services worth that. Health services are deteriorating by the day but insurance premiums are shooting up. Construction costs are super high now due to myriad regulations, high interest rates, and supply chain problems. Cars, utilities all have gone up significantly in prices due to faulty public policies and inefficient markets. The real estate market is a case in point. Even shitty homes in Tier 1 cities ,where the jobs really are, cost a minimum of $1 million. This has meant the movement of labor around the country needed for a dynamic economy has pretty much disappeared. Of course other well known issues like homicide, deteriorating literacy and education standards, political collapse, legalized corruption etc are all super amplified. The US is no longer a place of opportunities. The growth is all in Asia and quality of life is better elsewhere. Three key events - 9/11 terror attack, 2008 Great Recession, and 2019 Pandemic pretty much has widened the divide between haves and have nots. But still the US is the only place where you can win a $1 billion lottery.
People gotta stop confusing between citizenship and passport. A passport is simply a traveling document that indicates you are a citizen, but not every citizen has a passport.

They go to the universities and to earn USD. The US is declining because of neoliberalism introduced in the Thatcher/Reagan era. The US is a beautiful country with a lot of greatness which is why millions of people are tying to get in, but it is far from perfect. The worst thing about the US is lack of my form of gun control resulting in one of the worst rate of violence in any country. The other thing is the absence of universal healthcare. I’d add also that the people are heavily taxed.
America is great if you have money, but a sorry place for poor people. In many countries in the world, you could still have a happy and good life if you are poor.

Yes. In the end, all he really cares about is money and himself. He never learned to truly love a place for what it is despite its flaws or asks himself how he can contribute. He would abandon any country and whatever citizenship he has in an instance if he can pay less tax and contribute less somewhere. As an American I 100% agree with this. Living in the US is tiring and you do carry a lot of worry. Unless you're making a lot of money it really isn't a comfortable place living. Our support system is definitely garbage as well and is designed to keep you in poverty. The US government is corrupt to its own people and the world!

I remember one of my bosses calling Revenue Canada "scumbags."
Taxes on individuals is by definition…slavery.
It is also very complicated in Australia, every year they come up with new rules and alter existing rules, you must understand it well so that you won't be overtaxed. You may want to engage a tax specialist if you need help.

Additionally, I live in far west Texas where some of the items discussed in this video are not what I see daily.
America stopped growing after 1999,thats when it hit the middle age and now it is decaying like an agile old body, which once was simply stunning.
There’s no such thing as addiction. Drug use should be treated as a criminal offence

Why do you want to fix it when you say it has got nothing to do with you and you're supposed to feel nothing about it?

Make up your mind, sweetie. Is what the American Government did or does any of your concern at all? Does your concern and responsibility outweigh that of non-American citizens? Do you have FEELINGS about the government?
Unless you can say you feel NOTHING whatsoever about your government since you feel it doesn't represent you, which you obviously obviously can't, I suggest you feel another little feeling on top of what you're already feeling as well, something called shame.
And I would like to remind you your government is the product of the country you live in too, of which you're a member. You need not identify with the government, but both YOU and the government are cut from the same cloth and you can't deny that. YOU and your government are products of the same country. How about you take one teeny second to acknowledge that instead of insisting you and your government are so separate and have absolutely nothing to do with each other?
Second, I also don't see how your whole spiel about people criticising America / Britain / China now or in the past or in the future has got to do with anything. Seems like you just want to minimise things and make excuses. "Hey, things like that will always happen anyway, no biggie."
And DUH, Captain Obvious? Can't you read? Of course I have a problem with the United States government. Everyone in the world with a conscience should, especially American citizens. It's hilarious how you make it sound like such a big revelation when it's already apparent in my first comment.

An exodus by those who are able to flee is entirely understandable (though vexing to those in their new home if they loudly and endlessly complain about the things that were "better at home").

it is really the rent seeking behavior of the US government plus the destruction of public services that has made Americans frustrated.

No wonder.
Two countries have tax liability for citizens abroad: USA and Eritrea.
When I went to the UK for the first time about 30 years ago, my English friends told me a lot of Irish jokes. The sense was that the Irish were kind of stupid compared to the English and Ireland was very much a backwater country. Today Ireland appears to be growing much more strongly while the UK is struggling.
Ireland is classed as being in the UK. Do you mean the Britain ,
@@geoffreynolds8835 The UK refers to the United Kingdom of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Republic of Ireland, or Ireland in short, is an independent country. When people talk about Ireland, they usually mean the Republic of Ireland, not Northern Ireland.
Traveling and adventure changes people.
Absolutely! Best education you can get - is to travel.
Some of people's wants to be America citizen
😂😂😂😂
Why didn't he get a UK citizenship? I think London is wealthier than Dublin.
where is the brasilera women???
where is the afhanistan girls or the india girls sad
men speeding in foreign countries
keep out
Good to hear Nomad’s personal perspective viz a viz US. It sounds like one is born with inescapable chains to hold that citizenship. Tax trap for life?
Thought Rogers wanted an English and Chinese speaking environment for his children,. Ireland therefore is never a consideration.
He wanted to be in the East. A long time ago, he said he considered China, but settled on Singapore instead. He won't give up his US citizenship, though, to become a Singapore citizen.
not that my country is best and doesnt have flaws but i have yet to understand their Election system. Our is more simple which we adopted from the British
There's something off with this nomad guy's eyes and brow movement 🤔
Father John Sheehan:
“Every time anyone says that Israel is our only friend in the Middle East, I can’t help but think that before Israel, we had no enemies in the Middle East.”
Maybe it’s just me….i honestly don’t get what this guy Andrew Henderson is griping about 😂….so he doesn’t like paying taxes, so he gave up his US citizenship…so what’s the big deal here….
The g un culture in the U.S. is also a huge, huge turnoff.
USA doesn’t need him either. There are more people wanting to be in the country than those who want to leave.
This channel obsessed with interviewing anti-American guests in Singapore. Weird obsession for a channel about Singapore..: America lives rent free in his head 😂
EXACTLY!!!!!!!
Not with promoting genderism instead of better education, better infrastructure, illegal immigrant freedom through your border, homeless, war veteran suicide and inflation going through the roof.... However it's good going to America for the uninformed 😅
He seems to have a negative outlook on the world, not just the US. Most cities are fine to live in, if you have a decent job and friends & family around.
You live in Singapore, not the zombie infested cities like San Francisco etc
@@psgistheworstclubineurope I'm sure he can a nice place to live, even in the US...
listening to all this anti-Trump rant,Im thinking-actually Trump is probably the smallest problem of US😂
Anybody that has followed Andrew knows that he will only do what’s good for HIM right now.
(not saying that’s fundamentally wrong, but his messaging shouldn’t be taken as America at large. He is just wildly obsessed about paying less taxes; more than most )
If or when the tables turn in the given country he is in and America turns out to be the safer place, trust us …That’s where he will go next.
And when will that Happen? 😝
So tell me when America (USA) will be a safer place than Ireland, or anywhere else other than S Africa, South America and the Middle East?
Yes. In the end, all he really cares about is money and himself. He never learned to truly love a place for what it is despite its flaws or asks himself how he can contribute.
He would abandon any country and whatever citizenship he has in an instance if he can pay less tax and contribute less somewhere. If this is what he does during peacetime, imagine what he will do when there's a war and an enemy dangle a carrot in front of him to betray his so-called country.

Thanks, seems that others have picked up on this.
and re: the other commenters above: I never implied about *physical* safety …. my post explained what I meant . (and nevermind the fact we all know he’s in Bogotá now, a city which I’m very familiar)
America is safe place?? This must be a joke
wait to you get familiar with some of the other countries out there
Feel bad for Andrew. He appears to be clueless about American history. Should be thankful he’s not speaking German or Japanese!!
His distain for the US must originate from some deep seated trauma he experienced there causing him to harbor a lifelong grudge against that vast country likely because someone or someone’s policy made him mad. Don’t know of anyone else on the internet that seems to hate their former homeland the way he does. Hard to feel comfortable doing business with anyone who’s filled with so much animosity toward his country of birth.
Talking about trauma and animosity..,try to live in Germany as an American
Typical American thought process, cliche but you sound like some old boomer. Andrew could also have simply realized that the good times are over for the USA, it’s only good if you’re a penniless third world illegal alien.
to all good Americans, come visit Malaysia, including Borneo states of Sarawak, Federal Territory of Labuan island and Sabah (formerly aka British North Borneo)...I have been in the States and Toronto, here is better.
