IDW deserves to go under for what they did to Transformers, G.I. Joe, et cetera, (even Godzilla has had problems there).
The sooner the company is gone, the better.

The rough part is that lack luster talent will likely find a home at Marvel, DC, or Image as it has been a game of musical chairs with comic books for at least the past 15 years.😅😅😅

For the longest it seems IDW has just been proving grounds for new incoming talent and licensed properties. I agree getting the talent on the interiors would go a long way it’s probably too little too late. For a while when Dan Mora was hitting on Power Rangers that was my favorite book for a while.

      That's both a dramatic oversimplification & wrong.
Badly written comics have little to do with how sick the entire direct market system really is.
I'm not sure any indie post 1996 has truly turned a sustained profit.
The collapse of newsstands & pussyfooting on committing to digital/trades is cause no 1.
IDW has never had a home grown property that anyone actually wants. Self financing 4 seasons of mediocre TV was the self inflicted gunshot to the guts.

We need to get woke women out of comics, movies, and tv. Just tell then to go write novels on their own (and fail because nobody likes their crap). In fact, comics, movies, and tv shows shouldn't hire ANY writers who haven't written novels. That should keep the woke out, because they're a bunch of lazy turds.

What matters most to me is the licenses for TMNT, Sonic, and Godzilla. These are all viable properties that do make money. So if they were to fall into the hands of other competent publishers that would be acceptable to me. If IDW goes away well there will be another company to come along and take their place. Too bad, as they had the opportunity to become something, but ruining viable properties like GI Joe and Transformers showed they just didn't understand the properties and the audience for them. WTF20.

  • @Brush4000

I think IDW is basically how the entire comic industry is acting. They've had a serious problem for a long time, and you can't force people to buy books. They probably should have down sized severely, but even then it was probably not going to save them.
There have been several great small publishers that couldn't survive when sales were better. First and Eclipse had some great indie titles, yet both companies folded.
The reality is most people go to LCS for the big two, and may pick up an indie here and there. But indie titles aren't always better the any random Marvel or DC book. The Ultraverse wasn't horrible, but not amazing. Each title was like a random Marvel book, so it wasn't shocking when Marvel bought the line.
I think the business model was to pretend it wasn't an emergency, and hoping to get more investors, and thinking it would last until every died, or maybe won the lottery. O would think any competent person would have left the company years ago, so everyone let was an idiots just pretending they weren't burning down. Like a gambler with a lot of debt they were living day by day, with no real plan on dealing with the debt.
The books weren't selling, how do you get normal people to buy mediocre over priced books? That's the problem the entire industry can't solve. The gofundme crowd gets by with a few customers and with a cult mentality passed on the creator. Normal people wouldn't buy these books if they were in LCS, imo.

Oh my God. I just went to look something up on the IDW website. I discovered 2 things. One, websites still exist…
    Who knew?
Two, holy shit, IDW officially has the worst logo I’ve ever seen. Why the hell did they even change it. The old logo was fine. “IDW” in capital letters. Simple. Direct.
It’s a really bad sign when a company that has business relationships with hundreds of artists and graphic designers can’t figure out how to design a logo.
You have to see this shit. The new logo is just a capital “ID.”
At first, it’s confusing. Like, “Am I on the correct website?”Then, if you look closer, the letters are actually split in half, horizontally. The lower half of the “ID” forms a “W.”
    Thus, “IDW.”
That nepotism exemplar probably got drunk and drew it on a cocktail napkin. No one had the guts to tell him it’s not as clever as he thinks it is.

Once upon a time IDW represented a significant chunk of my pull list (second only to DC) thanks to Transformers, X-Files, 30 Days of Night, and Angel. I was one of those that preordered 30 Days of Night # 1 back in 2002.
I haven't bought an IDW comic in years after they lost the Transformers license... and even then I had stopped enjoying those comics anyway as it had devolved into unreadable dreck and was buying purely out of momentum.
Nevertheless, it is sad to see how far IDW has fallen when it could have been a contender as it was easily outdoing Dark Horse and BOOM! in its heyday.
