+Abroadin Japan Thanks much. I watched your Fuji video a few times before leaving for this trip in hopes of getting shot ideas. I don't think Cap't Falcon, Axel and I were able to match the wit and humor of you and George though.
+Texan in Tokyo Thanks much! I've watched your videos for awhile! 5th is station is totally legit. I'm actually surprised we didn't get more injured. I was hallucinating by the end and Axel pulled his hamstring so bad that he couldn't walk for a month (literally). Perhaps we're not the sharpest tools in the shed (cue Smashmouth song looping in my head for the rest of the night -_-).
+OkanoTV Thanks much! I'm a big fan of your videos as well! Would love to meet-up when next we're in the same area. (I'm in Nagoya.) Maybe we could brainstorm a fun collab.
Can I just say, apart from the amazingness that is the content of this video, the editing with the music, the slow-mo, and especially the timing with the clip of the sun breaking over the clouds just as the music hit its peak was awesome. :)
Thanks +Mikko Virtanen! The animation was a personal challenge I took on in hopes of upgrading my motion graphic skills. Still a lot to learn, but I'm happy with how they turned out.
Holy freak man, I love your work! Nice job on the animations too- I can tell you put a bunch of work into this vid. You are really making my want to get back over there!
+Kim Haskell Thanks very much Kim! The animations were a personal challenge I gave myself in order to (hopefully) upgrade my post-production skills a bit. Hope you can get back to Japan someday. As you know, it's as good as it looks. :-) Glad to make the connection, hope to hear from you in the future. ~Andrew
Great Job! I really enjoyed watching this video! A big Hi from here in SG to you and Mrs. Marston, as well as Mr. Falcone and Mr. Norwood. Please make more videos just like this!
+constancew Glad you enjoyed it! Don't look too carefully at some of the shots ^_^ I got condensation on the inside of the lens of my main camera on the trip about halfway up the mountain and then it froze when we got to the peak. I'm just glad I managed to get enough decent footage to pull together a coherent story.
Brilliant work! I've been looking at Fuji videos on RUclips ever since my brother rode around the beast on mamacharis - my most recent upload - and this has been the best video thus far! That's a huge effort and you told the story in an entertaining way. Loved it!
Awesome stuff! Funny, informative and the editing and story telling was fantastic. We were engaged the whole time and can't wait to see more from you. Next time we're in Japan, let's meet up!
+Because We Camp Wow! Thanks! I just found your videos too. Very well done. Definitely let me know next time you're in Japan. Maybe we can meet-up and/or go on an adventure together. Cheers! -Andrew
I'm pleasantly surprised you came back on RUclips after the bike trip I thought you were gone. Great videos you know they good if "Rachel and Jun" are watching.
Really great video! Just discovered this channel and glad I did. The filming and just how it was put together was really impressive. Also the editing/animations were really freakin good, it looked super professional haha. But yeah I'm looking forward to more!
+Dave Thanks much! Question, would you prefer more of these adventure videos or more Tour Japan episodes? I'm planning to make both, but still trying to find a good balance.
+Happy In Japan Honestly, as much as i like the Tour Japan videos, I still enjoy these Adventure ones more. I can't really tell you why though. I guess cause they make you fell more involved. They make you believe your a part of the Tour and they seem "realler". (Because eventhough alot of editing went in to it, the live and spontanuous recordings and Videosequences appeal more to me). I hope that helped you out a bit. And I hope you can understand what I'm saying. (because of my english) Greetings from Germany David
+Dave Perfect! That's exactly the kind of opinion I was looking for. Thanks. I agree, Tour Japan feels a bit more removed from the audience and there is less of a story that takes place. However, it's a still fun creative outlet and hopefully a valuable resource for potential Japan travelers. Germany! Many of my wife's family lives there. :-) All the best Dave! ~Andrew
Good video good friends and good adventure! Welcome to beautiful Japan. I was played snowboarding at Mt Fuji.8th station to 5th station. Why do you try snowboarding in Mt Fuji next time.
Hmmm...I wanted to go from the 5th station of Japan to the top, but now I am reconsidering, this trip from the sea seems much more enticing! Can't wait for July!
This was awesome! I loved your Japan by bicycle too. It has inspired me to think of more adventures I could do locally instead of dreaming of places outside the US (still want to do this and bike Japan too, but for now I'll look around California). Keep up the good work!
I like how you use motion graphics in your videos, ahh it looks so cool (cause I'm trying to figure out how to do it myself) really enjoy your videos btw! :D
Wow this video and your whole channel is just amazing !!! I just had to subscribe and Takeru did as well hahaha we're just amazed by your way of filming and editing !
Looks like a lot of fun and pain (Love how they can fix together like that.) How about for the next adventure, if you want more nerdiness - Yakushima in Kagoshima? [Glad you could come visit, Captain Falcone ^^]
What a beautiful trip. You guys put in a lot of work, but those woods looked amazing. I took the yoshida trail from the fifth station when I climbed in 2013. This looks pretty awesome though. Seriously a lot of work, but perhaps I'll have to try it when I climb it again next time I'm In Japan. Nice to see you guys climbed at night. The sunrise is the best part. I think it would be hard to climb up during he heat of the day just to be on top without getting to see the sunrise (which was beautifully shot of course)
You're so right. The first two times I climbed Fuji I did it from Yoshida 5th station starting in early morning. It was ok, but I had no idea what I was missing until this time around when we were there for sunrise.
Thanks for subbing! Glad you liked it. It was a mix of shots from the Sony rx100m3 and GoPro Hero 3+ Black. My aim is to upload 4 seasons of Tour Japan per year (6eps/season) and hopefully a few adventures like this. Sticking point is that they take a lot of time to edit. This one took about 120hrs for example.
There's a similar Sea To Summit route (~42km) but from Taganouma Beach across and up Mt.Fuji to the summit (via the Fujinomiya Trail) that has now been declared an offical hiking route called 'Route 3776'. It is being promoted by Fuji City Hall in Shizuoka. If you register your hike and collect the 4(?) stamps along the journey to the summit you will be awarded an official accomplishment certificate from Fuji City Hall.
Excellent video, Andrew! I'll be sharing this one with my friends! It seems like an amazing adventure but... I'm glad I saw the Attack on Titan movie in theaters instead of climbing Fuji when I had the chance. I'm just not in shape for it yet.
+Adam Boehm Creations Climbing Fuji the normal way is not easy. This was really difficult. Axel actually strained his hamstring pretty bad from all the hiking uphill and had a hard time walking for about a month afterward.
Looks great. Thanks for the info published with the video. I'm tempted to try it, this summer. How much time did it take you to come down the mountain?
Fantastic watch! 27 hours of existing is hard for me, how did you guys go about climbing a bloody mountain??? lol. You guys were funny, though. That blister sounded awful, I would have whined too. This years trip to Japan for me will be November so I won't be able to make it up Mt.Fuji, but my friend and I are considering hiking Takao. Won't be as impressive, but I'm still excited. Thank you for the video!!
I've spent so much time researching the best times to see the fall colours and I am looking forward to it so much, it's part of the reason we selected Takao to hike.
Dude, can you give me... errr us some more information? like is it necessary to make a booking first to go to Mt. Fuji or you can just come there, fill the paper and just go hiking. Cause im planning to go there either this July or next year July :D Please give the full guide...lol
Thanks guys you inspired me. I did it (solo) last July 2018 from Tagonoura Beach (Minato Park) to the summit starting at 7:45pm and arriving at the summit at 1:00pm. Slightly different route to you though - I followed the new, now official Fuji Route3776 - (Fuji Sea2Summit) and got my certificate, pin and medallion. It was a bit of an adventure to access the beach for the seawater! (Tsunami walls) I reckon I could do it about 2.5hrs faster next time.
Chureito Pagoda in Arakura Sengen Park: goo.gl/maps/mtJdPQuh8vs Hard to get to without a car. We actually cycled for about an hour and a half from our hostel in Kawaguchiko and then walked up about a million stairs to get to this location. Totally worth it though. Hope that helps! - Andrew
Thanks for sharing this amazing video! So on your way down, how long did it take to reach the hostel? And how many hours had you stayed awake when you finally went to bed? It is hard to believe that someone can keep climbing the steep mountain and descending from that for such long hours.
+acatinny Good questions. The decent took about 3.5 hours to get from the summit shopping area of the Yoshida Trail to the Yoshida 5th Station. From here we took a bus and arrived at our hostel around noon. We couldn't check in until 3PM, but Axel and Cap't Falcon fell asleep in the lobby while nonetheless and I went to a nearby park on the banks of Kawaguchi-ko and ended taking a nap under a tree for 2 hours. Even now, looking back, it's still hard for me to believe I didn't fall asleep the whole time we were hiking. Axel and Cap't Falcon took a short (20min?) nap when it was raining at the picnic table spot about halfway through the climb, but otherwise none of us got a wink until it was all over. So, to actually answer your question :-) I woke up on Friday around 3:30PM and didn't go to sleep until about 1PM on Sunday when I took that 2hr nap under the tree waiting to check into the hostel. After check-in, we all bathed and were in bed by 4PM.
damn! This is one of the best video and idea I ever had to visit japan! :) I used to climb few mt in Indonesia and I get really excited with this video. My wife and I already booked flight ticket to Tokyo for 12days in December, but we haven't decide where to go. Is there any guide or group that re-arranged trip climbing mt.fuji from sea to summit like this? What is your best month suggestion to climb the mt.fuji? Cause I can't speak and understand Japanese at all and I definitely need friends :) Regards, Your new subs and fans from Indonesia ^.^
Another great video. I'm on my own Pokemon quest as well. I've made it to the Black/White2 games. It's quite a commitment. Are you a big MTG player? I haven't played since I was younger around the time Pokemon cards came out, but I see it at PAX Prime in Seattle WA every year and I always wonder if it's worth getting back into.
That's about the same time I stopped too. I made it up to the Urza's Legacy expansion, then I began to focus on school as I prepared for college and it fell off my priorities. I was thinking about getting back in for the same reasons
+Aaron V That's exactly the last expansion I bought a deck for. Here in Nagoya there's a pretty thriving MTG community at the local hobby shops with friend drafts, tourneys, and meet-ups every night of the week. Using the MTG cards sort of like flash cards and the meet-ups as a way to make friends and practice conversation is my plan... too bad MTG cards are so pricey. Thank goodness Hearthstone is in Japanese now. Maybe there will be some Fireside gatherings in Osu or something.
What a coincidence that we happened to stop on the same set. Nagoya sounds like a great place to be, and its location seems ideal too. Is there a big board game community there as well?
Hi, Andy Me and my wife are about to climb Mt. Fuji at the beginning of August. We are so excited about it and hope everything go smoothly. By the way, 意識度 in Chinese means consciousness, not energy. But as a Taiwanese, I am still learning Japanese language, so maybe 意識度 in Japanese means energy literally. ^^
Amazing adventure and amazing video editing of the intro. One question: Which is the place shown in the first seconds of the video with Mt.Fuji in the background and the pagoda in the foreground?
+Robin1Food Chureito Pagoda. It's the best secret photo spot in Japan that everyone eventually finds out about. Be prepared to walk up a lot of steps. (More info on the location -> www.japan-guide.com/e/e6917.html)
+Blufall I ran out of money and couldn't buy any more subs (kidding!!! ^_^) No, I think the real reason is because the videos are quite niche to Japan travel lovers, and also YT is so big it takes time for word to spread (that's what I tell myself to stop the tears at night anyway... :-D). Thanks for the comment! - Andrew
This video was amazing!! :D
Way to go, guys!
Now I gotta get you out to the trail behind Kegonji!
+Rachel & Jun Finally googled "Kegonji." Looks amazing! Probably really beautiful this time of year I'd imagine.
+Rachel & Jun I guess it makes sence, but i was still surprised to see you guys here :)
+Dave Maybe they got lost on the way to the cool kids corner of YT and ended up here instead. :-P :-D
That view from 11:14 was staggering - excellent work guys! I feel guilty for only climbing the top part now haha
+Abroadin Japan Thanks much. I watched your Fuji video a few times before leaving for this trip in hopes of getting shot ideas. I don't think Cap't Falcon, Axel and I were able to match the wit and humor of you and George though.
+Abroadin Japan Look at that, the whole english-japanese youtube scene is watching :)
Great idea, Sea to Summit. I like the George Fox U. tee shirt, btw. That encourages me, too.
三人ともが凄すぎる!驚嘆しました。
この動画に連れてきてくれたokanotvに感謝しつつ、次のチャレンジを応援しています。
素晴らしい動画でした。
+mrk2196 ありがとうございました!^_^
I CANNOT believe you did the whole hike. That's insane. I just did 5th station to summit and it was so hard :/
This is an excellent video, by the way.
+Texan in Tokyo Thanks much! I've watched your videos for awhile! 5th is station is totally legit. I'm actually surprised we didn't get more injured. I was hallucinating by the end and Axel pulled his hamstring so bad that he couldn't walk for a month (literally). @4:30 "We are so far" His face was priceless, also surfing or maybe camping. Great video and channel!
+bulblast89 He wasn't kidding either.
Finally able to sit down and watch this, and I have to admit I was blown away with the views you got! I really love these adventures you take us on :)
+Japan Diaries Thanks! Hopefully more to come. :-)
Wow man, beautifully edited, wonderfully climbed, loved the side comments, loved the fatigue scale, everything about this video was bomb! Way to go!
+OkanoTV Thanks much! I'm a big fan of your videos as well! Would love to meet-up when next we're in the same area. (I'm in Nagoya.) Maybe we could brainstorm a fun collab.

Dam bro this is amazing im begging you, make more of this videos. You deserve more viewers!
+kevin piroscia hahaha. glad you enjoyed it. would you rather see more like this or more Tour Japan?
Amazing edited video! Congratulations on your climb well done! 👍
Thanks for great video! Really a hike of epic-ness. Loved the animations and of course the energy chart! :)
Thanks +Mikko Virtanen! The animation was a personal challenge I took on in hopes of upgrading my motion graphic skills. Still a lot to learn, but I'm happy with how they turned out.
I don't know why you guys don't have more subscribers. The quality is incredible!
Awesome adventure !! Thanks for the video. Great effort Andrew, Captain Falcone and Axel
Thanks!

Good luck and have fun :)

Hi +Akshath Umesh ! Good to hear from you. I hope all is well in SG still. We miss you and everyone there.
kudos on completing the whole hike. You guys are funny and fun to watch. Thanks for sharing!
This video is so amazing and the view you showed is so beautiful..keep on doing such fantastic videos
Wow, thank you very much for the encouragement.
Amazing adventure, thanks for sharing. It's incredible that you managed to get such great footage too.

I really loved the editing in this video. Looking forward to your other adventure videos, whenever they may come.
Thanks!
Excellent edits on the videos. I subscribed immediately.
Your videos should have 5 times the amount of views they do.
They're really good.
keep going.
Great video! I'd love to see more videos like this and other tour like videos of Japan as well.
Thanks! That's the feedback I'm looking for. I'm still trying to find a good balance of the two (TJ & Japan adventure).
Awesome stuff! Funny, informative and the editing and story telling was fantastic. We were engaged the whole time and can't wait to see more from you. Next time we're in Japan, let's meet up!

Great video.
I really like those documentary type of videos you do, especally the bike tour and this one.
Keep the good work up. :)

I hope that helped you out a bit.
And I hope you can understand what I'm saying. (because of my english)
Greetings from Germany
David
+Dave Perfect! That's exactly the kind of opinion I was looking for. Thanks. I agree, Tour Japan feels a bit more removed from the audience and there is less of a story that takes place. However, it's a still fun creative outlet and hopefully a valuable resource for potential Japan travelers.
Germany! Many of my wife's family lives there. :-)
All the best Dave! ~Andrew
+Happy In Japan Glad I could "help" :-)

It has inspired me to think of more adventures I could do locally instead of dreaming of places outside the US (still want to do this and bike Japan too, but for now I'll look around California).
Keep up the good work!
+Cory E Ya, wherever you are you can always create an adventure.
Well done
Really some high quality stuff, guys, loved the video!
+Squid In Japan Thanks! I like your vlogs also. Keep it up.
Thanks, I will make sure to put out some new content soon :P
I like how you use motion graphics in your videos, ahh it looks so cool (cause I'm trying to figure out how to do it myself) really enjoy your videos btw! :D

How about for the next adventure, if you want more nerdiness - Yakushima in Kagoshima?
[Glad you could come visit, Captain Falcone ^^]
Great idea! Actually Yakushima was suggested to me by a friend as well. Definitely on the list.

Damn, I have to re-evaluate my life when you guys are doing this awesome stuff!
Thanks,Amazing journey...God Bless...
+Irwan Ayoh Thanks! Likewise.
We hiked Gotenba and thought that was tough..this is incredible!
This is sooooo cool beans! I'm glad you all made it safely and together. :)
+christophe p Same. Glad you liked the video. Thanks for the encouragement. :-) ~Andrew
You're crazy! 😉 Well done for doing it! I never got around to climbing Fuji during my time in Japan. Next time...
Let me know if/when you come. Wouldn't mind going again.
Will do buddy! Unfortunately all my trips to Japan are business related and I can't find a way to make a trip to Fuji-san work related ;)
nice editing great shots all that just from gopro !
please upload more often you deserve more subscribers and you just got a new one
Thanks for subbing! Glad you liked it. It was a mix of shots from the Sony rx100m3 and GoPro Hero 3+ Black.

Very cool. Reminds me of the time I climbed Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.
Sounds like a fun adventure too!
Japan's so beautiful, wish the job field I'm going into pertained to going to Japan
....Yep! I'm doing this. I'm planning a trip to Japan and this just made the list of To-do.
+Billy Torrez If you need any more insight into trip planning or what-not feel free to message me. -Andrew
good video! I honestly love it!!!
I love these type of videos
more please
Agreed.
Wow now I feel like a wuss for starting at station 5. Awesome work, guys. This was very inspirational video
+Uraneum Having done both, I can say sea to summit it bit overkill. 5th Station is totally legit. :-) Best, Andrew
This is first time trial ever in History!!!
Amazing!!!
What a amazing adventure!
Fantastic video! May I share this on my blog?
Sure!
Oh man, that doesn't sound good. I hope he's alright now.
Just amazing!
Awesome work!
I'd love to climb the fuji someday....maybe not see to sky...lol
+JB0Y74 haha... ya, it's a beautiful sunrise, but since Fuji is the tallest thing around the view is mostly sky.
Looks great. Thanks for the info published with the video. I'm tempted to try it, this summer.
How much time did it take you to come down the mountain?
You guys are amazing. Next adventure end to end of Japan?
+goslmka You may like my video "Japan by Bicycle" about our end to end Japan bike trip 1 month after the 2011 quake.
Wow, I really want to go from sea to summit myself now! Maybe not in 27 hours though...
How about you do the 88 temple pilgrimage in Shikoku?
Fantastic watch! 27 hours of existing is hard for me, how did you guys go about climbing a bloody mountain??? lol. You guys were funny, though. That blister sounded awful, I would have whined too.

I've spent so much time researching the best times to see the fall colours and I am looking forward to it so much, it's part of the reason we selected Takao to hike.

About 14hrs -_-
Andrew, where was the location of (11:32) ?? if you could point it out on google maps it would be great.
Chureito Pagoda in Arakura Sengen Park: goo.gl/maps/mtJdPQuh8vs

Is there any guide or group that re-arranged trip climbing mt.fuji from sea to summit like this?
What is your best month suggestion to climb the mt.fuji?
Cause I can't speak and understand Japanese at all and I definitely need friends :)
Regards,
Your new subs and fans from Indonesia ^.^
Woah amazing view
Another great video. I'm on my own Pokemon quest as well. I've made it to the Black/White2 games. It's quite a commitment. Are you a big MTG player? I haven't played since I was younger around the time Pokemon cards came out, but I see it at PAX Prime in Seattle WA every year and I always wonder if it's worth getting back into.
I used to play MTG about 15 ago. Recently considering getting back into it for the social aspect.
I haven't found one, but there are several individuals I know that are game to game. A few of them are YTers too so it's a fun time.
this was awesome
+Ailyn Corona Thanks ^_^
Hey, right now I'm in the mood to think thats a great idea, too. What did you have got in your bagpack?
Food and warm clothes mostly
Hi, Andy
Me and my wife are about to climb Mt. Fuji at the beginning of August. We are so excited about it and hope everything go smoothly.
By the way, 意識度 in Chinese means consciousness, not energy. But as a Taiwanese, I am still learning Japanese language, so maybe 意識度 in Japanese means energy literally. ^^
What an exciting adventure! How many kilometers in total did you guys walk?
+Bernadette Bautista About 50km total. Thanks for the comments! - Andrew
impressive!
November 11, season 2 release date, 2 days left can't wait :)
+soglf ^_^
Amazing adventure and amazing video editing of the intro. One question: Which is the place shown in the first seconds of the video with Mt.Fuji in the background and the pagoda in the foreground?
+Robin1Food Chureito Pagoda. It's the best secret photo spot in Japan that everyone eventually finds out about. Be prepared to walk up a lot of steps. (More info on the location -> www.japan-guide.com/e/e6917.html)
+Happy In Japan Thx man.
Amazing, going down is a bit of a ball-ache though.
So true.
When did you guys climb Mount Fuji? Is it during climbing season or off season?
incredible !
THIS VIDEO IS SUGOI(AMAZING). SHARLA 'S JOURNEY IN FRONT OF THIS
これは凄いですね。とてもよかったです。
+nowgaku 気に入ってくれてうれしい :-)
Great vid,
Awesome 🤩
This channel is so great, why only 11k subs? :(
+Blufall I ran out of money and couldn't buy any more subs (kidding!!! ^_^) No, I think the real reason is because the videos are quite niche to Japan travel lovers, and also YT is so big it takes time for word to spread (that's what I tell myself to stop the tears at night anyway... :-D). Thanks for the comment! - Andrew
