Okay Chrome, watching old videos. Love that I knew you were going back to Lowel’s to get the Panelings... ... I needed inspiration so went back. Going to hear about a Promaster today. Yeah during Pandemic ... but now I’m so glad I wasted these 3 months as I know now I want a 2500 Dodge Ram. Wish me luck. You inspire me to just go for it. Yeah. My forever van. Thanks Chrome
OMGosh, I don't ever recall watching a RUclips video and yelling at the person trying to help them decide on something to buy! As an interior designer, absolutely the gray panel would be perfect! I say, decorate your home the way you want to because it sounds like you're going to have it for 3 years. So enjoy it, decorate it and do what you want to do and have a great time in it! ♡
"I gotta tell ya'" I'm watching your van redo and it occurred to me why this life style is so attractive to me: ALL my life I have wanted to decorate my homes the way I wanted, but life would get in the way. Now I see I have the chance and opportunity to do this! And your videos [and honestly, a couple others] have triggered that need in me again. But, this time, I CAN DO IT! Thanks...oh, your walkin' music is great!
Awesome video! I have the same van you do. It took one and a half panels to cover each side of the van. That did not cover all the way to the ceiling on either side when mounted the long way. This is because of the wheel wells in the back. You may need an additional sheet if you want to run the paneling all the way up to the ceiling. Also, don't forget that you're going to need to buy 8 wood furrings. Two inch wide thin planks to screw into the ribs on your walls. Sheet metal screws will be needed. One of those battery operated drills will work really good for installing the sheet metal screws. The furrings are to attach your panels too. So they don't get wavey all over the place. The furrings will also allow you to bolt down any cabinets or TV mounts later.
Definitely do that grey, white and black wall paneling!! 😍 you could still do some spray paint graffiti and give it a "rustic/worn" so the graffiti looks "aged" like the panneling looks
Buy what you love, IT'S YOUR HOUSE! When you wake up tomorrow you should look around and love your home. Luckily the van is small, you don't need much of anything to spruce it up so not much money really. Be in the present, not in the future! Love it now!
I wish that I thought that way before I started my van life. Next time I will do different but we do what we do with all the info that we have at the time...just learn from it and do different in the future. SOMEONE HAD TO MUCH TIMMY'S...;)
Hello. Love your attitude. I have the "old barn wood" planks style paneling on the walls in my "shed-to-art studio," and love it. I still need to finish the ceiling, I've been debating over sheetrock or something that looks more like whitewashed boards (paneling). I'm not living the van life, but I am living the creative life and I have been enjoying watching your progress from the beginning (I'll catch up eventually to your more current stuff, but for now your old videos are keeping me company in the mornings when I drink my cup of coffee and get ready for my day, or when I settle down from work and get ready to go back in the house).
Thanks for these great ideas! I am going to put some "wood" boards on a dual track and use them as a separator for the front, to block out all light and to have the psychological feel of an actual wall. LOL. This video needs 5 like buttons! I can't wait to be a home owner too! :D
your channel has sold it for me for van living. your attitude makes me feel like it would be safe to sleep in a van. i am changing my career in to a more mobile one soon and i will be able to take well paid short-long term work anywhere and will have way better prospects for my future. i am 28 and have been looking for a way out of the 9-5 grind for years now. continue the good work with this channel friend!
Hey Chrome! I put both carpet and floor tiles in my cargo van. I love the feel of my bare feet on nice soft carpet. It's relaxing. So that's what I did with my main living area. But I used floor panels near the doors to help keep my carpet from getting dirty. Plus this will allow me to install a propane heater in the back and not have to worry about it becoming a fire hazard!
Lol, watching through the playlist and seeing that you think a high-top is what you're gonna do long term, compared to your opinions now. I love the van life transformation where you learned what you needed. I'm about to start my van life adventure so re-watching the beginning to get motivation
Definitely no high top bro. Love love love the wood wall panels from lowes but am like you I don’t see myself in my van for more then 3 yrs so I’ve got to keep it simple. So now am stuck on what to do. Love ya bro. Keep it moving forward
Decisions decisions! How bout both? Wood and brick naturally pair together. Doesn't matter if it's called wall or flooring, lots of builds use interchangeably. Can't wait to see your result! Check out tool libraries for loaner drills/tools. Hi Disco!🐕
I loveeeee that barn board at Lowe's! I may do something similar in my build and save having to cut a hundred tongue and groove pieces. I agree about the high top too. It's one thing if the van is designed tall, but adding something on looks super camper-y. My build won't be fancy either, because of finances and I'm just pretty simple. - Jasmine
Lol, its clear that you've already decided on the wall panels...wont look too cottage, that would depend on how you decorate your van, and as your planning a graffiti ceiling could look really cool, along with really simplified Ikea cabinetry could work well in shades of warn (but light) grey. This is your beginner van...I can picture you in a Transit hightop, with solar discreetly mounted behind a trade roof rack
Spoko facet z Ciebie i sprawiasz szczerego wrażenie. Ja noszę się z zamiarem budowy małego camper dla siebie. Gromadze rzeczy i oglądam filmy. Moje auto to citroen jumpy 2007. Mały,ale tylko dla mnie i mój. Spać, jeść, pić piwo i do przodu. Tańczyć w nim nie będę. Jestem biedny, nie pracuje i choruje na borelioze. Ale zrobię go. Twoje filmy są pomocne za co dziękuję i pozdrawiam 🤔
That grey and black panelling is so so sweet, if I could drive I would use that in my van with the yellow unit from Ikea and some soft grey tons around, yep that would be a pretty place to be, Loving the vids
Hey Chrome! I just watch a vlog of a couple that used your favorite board in the walls of the Sprinter van. I thought of you!!!! They also have some of the red brick in their build. Check the van tour for 'Van Kookz'!!!!!!! I think your van/home will look rad!!!!!!!!!!👍🏾🕶😎😉
Digging the grey wood panels. They've got that weathered Vermont pine look. Still, I liked the golden-brown color of that same panel design even better. My 87' Dodge B250 is a standard top, extended tail cargo van, and I love it! Wanted this body style in a short wheel base. But when shopping used, you're lucky to find a van that has all your wants except one, so I bought it. I commute 240 miles each way from the Foothills of the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas to my job in Jackson, Tennessee. Needless to say, after a month at a a hotel 5 days each week, I was spending more than some folk's mortgage.... thus the reason for my interest in Vanlife . I've been accumulating the items for my van build, and am about ready to begin. Like you, I don't want to add a fiberglass piece of junk to my roof just so I can stand up. But I don't want one of the tall-boy vans on the market today because of the distance I travel each week, usually fighting extremely strong winds between Black Rock, AR and Dyersburg, TN which is 3/4 the distance from my home to work. Driving along U.S.-412 between those points, a taller van would have the aerodynamics of a school bus, and thus poor fuel economy. And more money in the fuel tank means less money for living, so for me, the standard top old-school van works best. New to your channel. You've got a great attitude toward life, and enjoy your videos. My wife says Disco is a big hunk of sexy! Lol. Keep it weird, Weirdo! P.S. - Where can I buy one of those bumper stickers?
Wood style on the floor with the brick panels on the wall would be sick! Especially if you do the plaster and graffiti on the brick panel like you said.
That wall panel (the white/gray/black) with some stickers and graffiti is so you. I'm sure it's going to look amazing whether you graffiti it up or leave it alone.
Man, i'm re-doing my bedroom when going back home & you just gave me ideas with that brick wall panelling... I wanna make a fake chimney mantle with some tiles or whatever (i got a bag of colored glass pieces i might incorporate there) & a wooden shelf on top but now i wanna put a panel of that fake brick thing & spray paint it lavender & turquoise & hot pink like some abstract graffiti, hurray!
What about doing part of the walls in the grey barn board with a section that you make of plain plywood that you have a graphiti artist style for you? You could ask several artists to do panels for you and switch them out with your mood...?
Hey Chrome, I live in a Sprinter Hi Top. You are absolutely right, the height in a van makes a huge different in your day to day life. The draw back which I see owing a high top is not being able to park in multi storage car parks, and cost a bit more to heat the van. I believe is a small draw back to what you gain. I don't know anything thing about the pro masters, the Transits definitely drive better but Sprinters to me are fantastic! Great video!
Chrome, the interior would look like a brick box or a weathered board box if you chose one or the other. But if you did 2 walls in weathered board with an accent wall in brick, it would look like a cool corner. Plus the lighter colour feels more open. Good luck whichever way you go. And thanks, you gave me some interesting ideas for the step van.
You're doing it the kiss Factor... Keeping it super simple... which is what I plan on doing with mine the only concession I'm going to make is I don't want to reach into the back of cabinets for canned goods and Dry Goods... So I'm going to have three of those pull out metal shelving racks for can goods and quart canning jars for my dry storage they're going to be side by side... I want them in the bottom cabinet...
I really like those panels also...I am just now starting to work on my van...had to tear carpet out..was wet underneath...not sure why..have to keep an eye on it..but liked ur flooring ideas as well..anyway...I feel the same way about "rv's" and "high tops" so my long term goal is a promaster or sprinter as well...3 or 4 years down the road when I have a good lump of savings.
I love the gray barn board best myself. Also I noticed that the upholstery on your seat is also gray tones. But you might find that boring. I had red brick on a kitchen wall for too many years & got sick of it. I agree, if you don't plan on living in this van long term don't overspend time & money. You just need function & some of your cool personality! 😎
I have a promaster and it fits my lifestyle to a Tee!! Some folks do the high top after market and have had problems with insurance. My van is not huge but it’s just right for me. Good luck with your build, have fun with it. Safe travels 🐾💖Disco
Very helpful video👍 I like the bleached out wood one too...the black and white theme is cool and if you threw splashes of bright color with other decor it would be a nice neutral back drop and make your accents pop... Also, completely agree about the holdout on the next Van and not trying to retrofit your current van with a after market high top. Thanks for sharing your research! Cheers from Bellingham 😊
I really can't wait to get started on millinie it's rough in the winter I've got a lot to do to the minivan. First brakes then tent then redoing the cabin I have a small futon lightweight would be perfect for the van and tent..someone stole my couch while moving.!! It was too heavy anyway.!! I have to redo the ceiling it's sagging too bad to fix cause of a jammed window..i just can't wait until I know I'm ready for my shtf scenario.!!
I have to agree with you Chrome, I'm not a fan if Hightop vans. I personally liked the distressed brick wall board just add a little graffiti and that would look wicked sweet. Just my opinion.
I LOVE the ones in the box. I'd prolly try that for my floor... I'm torn between dry erase or chalk board for one wall... then brick for the other... or stone... sigh
Check out easy stainless steel drawers for a van on youtube. Might want something like that so you can unbolt it when done and reasemble it in a new van down the road
Hey Chrome, check out the peel and stick wallpaper at home depot, they have wood look and brick , maybe it can work for you, just a thought, God Bless and safe travels
Lmao.....i love that panel too! Maybe put your graffiti designs on it and use an off white or grey to LOOK like plaster? I put about seven boxes of laminate in mine and its lasted over four years so far, no issues. Then had a bottle of water crack in the bathroom and now all the seams swelled up. Taking it all out and going to either pine or birch boards i can charr black. I dont recommend the vinyl floor you can cut, we used it in our sound room and all the pieces were too warped to fit together and we ended up with a mess.
Told ya!!!! About the brick and paint plaster idea but you should go with the one that spoke to you first. Imo, Promaster or Ford Econoline. They're wider and more reliable than Mercedes Sprinter or Ford Sprinter. (I have an Econoline ;) you're doing exactly what I am. Simple solutions for the learner vehicle and learn then how to build your Vansion ;)
Hi past Chrome, this is Kim from the future- you stayed going on 5 years 😅 So great to watch your Playlist from the roots of it! 💚💚💚

I got the more rustic wood looking panels and trimmed it out with old pallet wood. Looks awesome!

That gray and white paneling is awesome! It makes you happy, it makes you feel good, do it!
Watching this and hearing you say don’t see this in your 5 year plan and your in your 5th year love watching your vids 🤟🏽
Yup, 2022 and Chrome is still in this current van, it's highly upgraded on the inside and outside, and his Girlfriend has a van with a hightop.
Love the flooring that you pick up. The gray colors is beautiful.
Wow, they still make that same pattern of red & black brick wall paneling. My grandmother had it in her house in the 1970s.
i like the grey wood look. it has a natural rustic feel to it. i did not know Lowes carried that, cool.
I’m enjoying these build videos because I’m going through my mini van build
I’m jealous of the options you have available. In Australia we don’t have the same choices.
Awesome video! I have the same van you do. It took one and a half panels to cover each side of the van. That did not cover all the way to the ceiling on either side when mounted the long way. Nothing wrong with the cottage look! I love mine! And I love Lowe's way more than Macy's.
I love that white black board. Go for what you like most. You have to live in it
Chrome you have great taste, this build is going to be epic! 💯👌🏾
Oh yeah love that Alpine wood look! Love your videos! You're really inspiring me. I can't wait to get started!
Glad you and disco are great, haven't commented, lately building out my van, fulltime in 9 DAY'S...KEEP IT WEIRD CROME ..TFS

Your videos are always great. I’m really liking the last few van build ones! Thanks for sharing . I’m looking forward to the next one
Definitely I like that wall panel - those last two. Yeah!!
Loving the rustic panels. Very cool. Can't wait to see how it all works out in your van. :)
Thanks for these great ideas! I am going to put some "wood" boards on a dual track and use them as a separator for the front, to block out all light and to have the psychological feel of an actual wall. LOL. This video needs 5 like buttons! I can't wait to be a home owner too! :D

Sounds like you have a plan!! 👍 Hello to all the Weirdos out there!!💜👋💜
Elaine Patton hello 👋🏾
Hello weirdo!
Hi mijo,
Life is like a garden, you gotta dig it! I'm liking both panels together..
I can see your vision,cool!
Ty..Safe travel&onward bound!
Yup do the white and grey and black panel!!! Can’t wait to see it done!!!
Looking forward to more van build stuff 👍
Okay, you've twisted my arm around my back.
I finally Subscribed to your channel.
Checking out the oldies. Saludos from Tx
Cant wait to see your work to the van.

That old weathered wood siding looked awesome.
I agree with you chrome. Hitops on small vans looks weird. I have a hitop on my crafter but it's already big so it looks normal.
That wood panel look is sick..make it happen bro..
agree with not adding a hi-top to the van. I have been looking for a Hi-top conversion van just for vacations. they seem the best for what I need.
I had the grey up and down real boards on the house, I loved it, but so did the woodpeckers,
Lol, its clear that you've already decided on the wall panels...wont look too cottage, that would depend on how you decorate your van, and as your planning a graffiti ceiling could look really cool, along with really simplified Ikea cabinetry could work well in shades of warn (but light) grey. happy monday chrome and disco
Love your videos Chrome . High energy music is fantastic! Like the grey too. Peace

Very nice! Buy Your fav... the last one/wall rocks! Hi Disco😍

P.S. - Where can I buy one of those bumper stickers?
:) Thanks for sharing.. Love the same panel you loved.. Lo :)
Wood style on the floor with the brick panels on the wall would be sick! Especially if you do the plaster and graffiti on the brick panel like you said.
you need to grab those grey/white wood panels before they are gone. They are fantastic. Keep the floor dark with those and will look amazing.
The weathered look was cool.
That wall panel (the white/gray/black) with some stickers and graffiti is so you. I'm sure it's going to look amazing whether you graffiti it up or leave it alone.
Love your taste Chrome? Your van is going to look great. I hope I can find the final video. Carol - Australia
Awesome!!! Those boards are sweet!!!👠🚌👠
Great minds think alike. Love your vids brother . keep em coming.
good for you chrome you make sense Hun another great video xxxx love you both xxx
Darslyn MC me too.!!
RIGHT ON.....current van home ... TEMPORARY ...so a frugal build is WISE !
I'm binge watching your videos in order so don't know what you ended up with but I was thinking peg board for my walls in my build when I do it :)
My high top van is beautiful and stealth.....!!! :)
Totally the grey wood paneling... Very sexy 😘
Red brick---Nope, not feelin'' it👎🏿
I love the gray barn board best myself. Also I noticed that the upholstery on your seat is also gray tones. But you might find that boring. I had red brick on a kitchen wall for too many years & got sick of it. I agree, if you don't plan on living in this van long term don't overspend time & money. You just need function & some of your cool personality! 😎
6:42 awesome
Yes I agree I hate those aftermarket high tops, but yes get a sprinter 👍🏾
Hey Chrome would you like some free barn board and help installing your build. I have a nice shop, tools and hoards of barn board
I haven't enabled you loser. If you don't like his video's don't watch them.
Hey @kelly larson me and my girlfriend are looking for a space/shop to rent to build out our van. Can we organize it with you?
All those panels are $29-$33 in menards in Chicago. Cray!
I have a promaster and it fits my lifestyle to a Tee!! Some folks do the high top after market and have had problems with insurance. My van is not huge but it’s just right for me. Good luck with your build, have fun with it.
Safe travels 🐾💖Disco
Their great nice and wide.
Can't wait to see your custom build weirdo.
Omg Ford Transits are sweeeeet
Love your choices too!
The constitution says, "thou shalt have the freedom to customize your van any way you want". 😉
Disco: “ will work for treats”!
Your Vans builds going to come out amazing
I’m building out my van this is very helpful
I have to agree with you Chrome, I'm not a fan if Hightop vans. I personally liked the distressed brick wall board just add a little graffiti and that would look wicked sweet. Just my opinion.
I LOVE the ones in the box. I'd prolly try that for my floor... I'm torn between dry erase or chalk board for one wall... then brick for the other... or stone... sigh
Funny to here you talk about the now maxed out van that then you only wanted to keep it for max 3 years. You are still living in it.
Good video chrome 👍🍺
Check out easy stainless steel drawers for a van on youtube. Might want something like that so you can unbolt it when done and reasemble it in a new van down the road
Gorgeousness
Hey Chrome, check out the peel and stick wallpaper at home depot, they have wood look and brick , maybe it can work for you, just a thought, God Bless and safe travels
You love it because it looks like you, I mean your beard. 😍🥰💯
Who else saw the brick panel one and thought yep that's got Chrome written all over it lol
With graffiti my thoughts exactly
Lmao.....i love that panel too! Maybe put your graffiti designs on it and use an off white or grey to LOOK like plaster?
I put about seven boxes of laminate in mine and its lasted over four years so far, no issues. Then had a bottle of water crack in the bathroom and now all the seams swelled up.
