    A lot of things happen in 1900 in Paris :
    On March 8, an explosion produced by the bursting of boilers sets off a fire at the Comédie-Française, causing the death of actress Jane Henriot.
    April 14 saw the inauguration of the Paris Universal Exhibition by President Emile Loubet. She stands from the Champs-Elysees to the Esplanade des Invalides.
    On April 29, a bridge under construction on Avenue de Suffren collapses, killing 9 people.
    On May 1st, the small and grand palaces are inaugurated.
    On July 4th, it's the opening of the Orsay station built by the architect Victor Laloux.
    July 19 : the inauguration of the first line of Metro Vincennes-Porte Maillot in Paris. The engineer is Fulgence Bienvenüe and the decorator architect Hector Guimard.
    November 12 : The Paris World Fair closes.
    In 212 days, 50,471,440 visitors are registered.
    November 30 : Oscar Wilde dies in Paris and is buried in the cemetery of Father Lachaise.
