    On the 2006 the belt routing is a little different and the breaker bar loosens the other way. Thanks for this video, replacing an alternator struggling and didn't think about removing the air box. Thank you.You absolutely rule.

      Got ya! Could be a variety of things honestly. I would maybe have it professionally evaluated and get it narrowed down. Throwing parts at a car & playing the guessing game can be an expensive game to play. Automotive diagnostic can be tricky, and sometimes its worth spending the $100 to get it diagnosed by a professional who’s equipped to do so and/or has experience with the particular platform. Then once you got your answer, you can always actually do the job yourself!

    What specific pulley would be causing my belt to not spin? Also would the belt not spinning cause the car to overheat or is that something else causing it to overheat?

    • @TheOriginalBeeCee
      @TheOriginalBeeCee  Год назад

      It really could be any pulley that could be frozen….causing it not to spin. The belt needs to be taken off and it needs to be evaluated, because all anyone can do without looking at it is speculate.
      Most common to lock up would be A/C compressor or the tensioner. But alternators can lock up, etc. Got to get the belt off if it isn’t already ripped off, and attempt to spin all the pulleys and see whats going on.

    • @meganfrederick3155
      @meganfrederick3155 Год назад

      @@TheOriginalBeeCee what’s taking the belt off going to do? Just seems like taking the belt off isn’t going to solve anything. The belt has a couple burn spots on it so that tells me the belt could snap anytime now. How could it be any of the pulleys causing it to fault out ? Do all pulleys play a part in spinning the belt?

      @@meganfrederick3155one of those pulleys (that your belt is on) is your water pump and if it's not turning it will absolutely overheat your vehicle

    Just wondering if you've had any problems with the belt walking half way off from alternator down through the tensioner, lower idler, waterpump and to the crank pulley. I've replaced the water pump, both idler pulleys and the tensioner and it still walks half way off

    Just curious does the engine torque strut have to be torqued down my a certain amount?

    • @TheOriginalBeeCee
      @TheOriginalBeeCee  3 года назад +2

      Every bolt does have a torque spec. And ideally, I do like torquing everything to spec....and it’s definitely best practice. Personally, I couldn’t source the torque spec for it, so I just tightened it by hand. You can most definitely get away without torquing it to spec, as you can feel it while tightening by hand...however if you have access to the correct torque spec(s) I’m always a fan of torquing!

      Hey what’s up....wish I could be of more help, but I’m not familiar with the 4 cylinder setup. Best suggestion I could give is...just pop the hood and check it out. If you find the belt tensioner, you most likely can do it. You can watch this video to get an idea of how the belt tensioner functions. Once you find the tensioner, I would take some pictures of the belt routing so you know exactly how its supposed to be routed, and you really could take it off and re-install just from that. I’m sure you’ll find a similarity or two from this video. And just for reference, 4 cylinders aren’t referred to as “v4”. 4 cylinders are “i4”..standing for “inline 4”. You can refer to it as i4 or simply just 4cyl.
