    These will never replace petroleum products. Reason being is that these things are manufactured, transported, built and maintained using PETROLEUM PRODUCTS.

      I should have mentioned petroleum products in general.
      Steel mills use a lot of power and natural gas to make their products.

      It's possible to make anything without fossil fuels. You can even make high quality steel without coal nowadays. Electric or hydrogen powered vehicles can do logistics. Electricity can easily be provided by renewable means via hydroelectric dams, wind turbines, tidal power, solar panels combined to offset one another and provide constant output.

    THIS is just ONE 'new' Industry working toward a more refined and cost-effective product for a green future...but let's make sure the process is more ENERGY EFFICIENT...passive solar etc to heat the metals etc...

    • @ichbrauchmehrkaffee5785
      @ichbrauchmehrkaffee5785 Год назад

      good look trying to use solar energy to heat a few tons of steel to 1530°C.
      Ignoring the fact, that passive heating with the sun cannot reach those temperatures
      (at which point you'll need to acitvely pump more energy into heating everything)
      I'd reccon, that the amount of energy needed is so large, that it cannot be generated with solar energy.
      (Not even talking about the piss poor power output from solar-panels)

      Wind turbines are the ugliest thing, they ruin the landscape. IMO a major impetus is that fact that "green energy" production is a boost to western economies where as fossil fuels benefits many of west's protagonists Russia, iran, Venezuela and all the arab countries (OPEC +). If it was the other way around, global warming would not have been an issue. As an example what is the carbon foot print of Ukraine war and its its eventual reconstruction? Why the west is not advocating for peace just from environmental aspect.

      Good point. It could then be compared with full life-cycle costs of all other forms of electricity generation.

    • @pawel7196
      @pawel7196 Год назад +7

      @@mvs9122 I think the opposite. Wind turbines demonstrate human ability to generate electricity near towns without smoke or smog. Looks are down to personal preference but still I think that a wind farm looks infinitely better than a bunch of smoking chimneys.
      The fossil fuels WOULD be an issue for a simple reason - it's not an infinite resource. Eventually industry would have to move to cleaner and renewable energy to be sustainable. Locking your mind that burning is the only way to go makes you very short sighted.

    more damaging than a few oil wells. more fun. so a one billion pound steel weight would be 4 billion cubic inches. 1200 inches on a side. a cube 100x100x100 feet. the first gear would be the most massive.,,,,,,
