I just realized exactly why I love watching your Channel, I believe it’s because the wholesomeness of the way there are never a Curse Word Spoken, the togetherness that you all have and lastly I love the way you all play off each other with the Comedy. It’s perfect fit for all of you, I thought maybe when Brody came into play it would mess up the Dynamics of the way you all play off each other’s comedy. It’s going great.
Don't cut yourself short Dougo. You're more than just a stud wall builder, we saw that finish carpentry work you did up stairs, top notch stuff. Thanks for your content.
Love the channel but as a contractor I would suggest using screws, lag bolts, and lots of strapping when you build anything that is going to get hit with the kind of winds you guys get.
🏡🫖☕🌏🌍🌎Thank you so much for this wonderful video and rebuilding that looks great yes and I hope the weather is just raining on the areas that you need to plant your corn yes and sending you prayers your way and we appreciate this wonderful video thank you for sharing it with us today yes!+:):) 🚜🌽🌽🌽🇺🇸💌💕💕
I'm a disabled Firefighter/EMT and I worked in a ER for afew years. I've seen alot of Eric's in the ER with missing digits. Because they had their fingers to close to the blade. Just like Eric was doing there following the cut and the saw caught on a knot an jumped. A funny story. It took me all day to clean up a guy that got into a fight with a chainsaw. Head, face, chest, knees and shin. It kept bouncing off of him as he "tried" to put it down. *Stay safe out there guys.*
Way to take care of Dougo by keeping him off the top of that damages silo, Chet. Get some professionals out there to repair the rungs on top so you can get up there safely. I'm sure the pro's are busy all over the area and it's hard to get fit into their schedules, but you guys stay safe while you wait for the help.
Wow a lot of damage Chet from the tornado Great video Chet and yeah , you made a good call not letting you Dad go up their on the ben to dangerous . Let the pros do the job. What our black beans uses for first time heard of that kind of beans? What happen to Toby? Not seen him for awhile.
@@tomcander3669 We do it all the time out here in CA - in the event of an earthquake its better than having your house slide of the foundation. Simpson has all the parts for this for most applications. Its not the tinsile stress, its the shear stress we're worried about. With all the other bins bolted down I would think the shed was bolted down too.
You guys could go into business building double decker outdoor toilets, the four seater variety lol. This has been a heck of a spring guys. It won’t always be this way. Faith over fear! Good job on the building and this is Erik and my other brother Erik!
Dougo you are an excellent carpenter. Don’t sell yourself short. The farm sure suffered a lot of damage from those two storms. We’re praying for all of you. Take care and have a good one. 👍👍👍❤️
Thanks for another great video everyone. Most interesting fixing after the storm and enjoyable to watch. Dougo you and your folks are doing great fixing after the storm. I sense the frustration or struggle bus at this time and truly understand. Have had to fix after a storm and no fun that is for sure. On top of that you have had the planting issues with the wet ground and all that. You take care of yourself. You and your folks are doing great and hopefully recover from all of this. Thinking of all of you. Good job on the carpenter work for the second floor of the shed. How about a set of spiral steps for the second floor??? Would cut down on space I believe. Your carpenter helper was doing great work which helped. Will be nice having that second floor. Good idea. Hope you can get back in the field. Know you have some planting to do yet. Hope the ground dried up. Have not seen much of Eric lately. Is he doing ok?? Know he worked a lot of hours. Hang in there buddy. Chet when things slow down you are doing to need a trim. You look good in long hair. About all I guess for now. I will be quiet. You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything and the filming Chet. Thanks to whoever helps with the editing. The Iowa farm boy. Appreciate you Chet keeping Dougo off the top of the bin where the ladder is tore off. To dangerous to be up there. Good going Chet. Thanks
As the season progresses can you tell us more about the black beans? Why you decided to plant them and where they will end up? We don’t see much about edible beans and would be interesting to hear the rest of the story. Looks like everything is somewhat back on track and your making progress in both the fields and storm recovery. Can’t wait to watch it all come together because I think it’s going to be amazing! The storm was a giant set back once you have fully recovered we all know the end result will be spectacular!
There is nothing like a bit of construction to shake the mindset from woe to go mode!! You extension will be a pleasant reminder of your trials of 22 and a blessing in times to come.
Great video Chet! Thanks for keeping the videos coming, we appreciate them so much! Good to see Erik, Brodie and Dougo too. I enjoy how everyone is telling you what to do on your building, not realizing this video is 2 weeks after the fact, lol.
We spayed our black beans when they had been planted like 2 day before. It then rained that night, and as they came up, they were stunned and never grew well at all. Very sensitive indeed!!!
I’m amazed at how well you all handle the set backs, one after another, after another, after another…… ! I scared Dougo might tear the steering wheel out of his truck! I know Doug, one little mistake, and no one EVER forgets! 😏😀 Well done everybody!
Hey seen on farming fixing and fabricating. He bought I think he called them T plugs. You unscrew your oil filter then screw in the plug so you can get the filter out without the oil spilling everywhere
With that souble decker idea ?... Think about using shipping containter length wise or stacked with a metal stairway !... Much cheaper and more weather proof !! Just an idea !!
Next for the tin get the dewalt tin cutter when we built are deer stand it worked way better then tin snips or tin saws it Just goes right on your drill and when you pull the trigger it and push it tours the tin and cuts right through it
Personally I would have went every 16 inches for the rafters more boards more weight it supports and more shear force aka holds up better to higher wind
You might want to consult an engineer about the wind load on the building with the second story especially with all the expensive stuff on the ground floor that you rely on. Make sure it can withstand 120 mph winds.
I’ve had that “no ya ain’t” fight with my grandfather a couple times this year since his surgery. Wasn’t listening to me so I was a good grandson and went and got grandma. Needless to say we called the neighbors for some assistance that day and he sat and gave direction for the project. Not gonna lie I was chuckling watching her get on him was quite entertain
Chet Eric Dougo Broodie and Randy that was great you have to get repairs going on the bins catwalks ladderstops that would be nice thank you Chet great video.

I've seen better
@George Jones your mamma cares that's who does
I miss seeing Erik. Hope he’s OK. Erik don’t listen to the boo birds we all like seeing you and your great sense of humour. Three cheers for Erik

I heard Eric has a warrant out for his arrest for indecent exposure so he's keeping off the camera so they can't catch him !!! 🤣

Wish you had used hurricane clips and hope the short wall is westerly facing or the roof will lift off.
Don't forget hurricane anchors on that wooden building. From foundation to the roof top.
"I hope you enjoyed it" LOL ANY video where Chet and Dougo are discussing decisions to be made is enjoyable. The banter is hilarious.

Great video Chet Dougo and Big Swede
Make sure to run Hurricane screws throw top plate into roof truss and you might want to put them in the floor joists from under neath
And if you’re going to do that, you might as well,do hurricane straps on your trusses too.
My thoughts exactly run extra hardware to connect the bottom plate to the top plate, trusses too.
@@lostinlox Not a bad idea, be worth it since there gunna be so much sensitive crucial expensive electronics in there.
The New screws go up throw both bottom plates and in to truss so if truss blows off the hole building will go bye bye.
I missed the trusses everyone is talking about. I only saw rafters.
I love to get notifications everytime you’ve posted a new video😁
Make sure the bell is on
Nice seeing Randy again
Adding a 2nd floor. Add anchor bolts and hold-downs to prevent high wind uplift forces. Be safe
Anchor bolts and straps go into the foundation, it would kinda hard to now
@@tomcander3669 Not too hard, drill through the sole plate, and into the concrete about 6" then epoxy in new anchor bolts. We do it all the time.
@@bobblossom2713 most places don't allow it as it's not attached to rebar....been in construction for over 40 years

NO ! code calls for full length hurricane straps, (from foundation to top plate)

Put a drop down stairway in that building. That way it pulls up and out of the way.

going to be a busy summer for you

Good job guys, keep on keeping on! Y’all are doing great in spite of all the issues.
Suggestion: run a dehumidifier in that grain shack through the summer. It'll be worth the cost of electricity.

Great video guy's, love watching. Where has Toby been ? Miss the dog !
2x6s on 32" centers with, (I'm guessing) a 12' span, less than 3:12 pitch, no bracing, and a MN snow and wind load? Hmmm.

And I'm don't mean Big Swed.
I'll second that Brad.
Thanks for sharing boys.
You should put a fireman's Pole the top floor to the bottom would be awesome
shipping containers would be the go....love ya videos Townsville Australia
After you get everything done with new bins and building you should make the picture of aerial photos of your seed farm!!!
Put some hurricane straps on the roof trusses this time around!
Nice built 👌👌 // SWEDEN
I was just about to go asleep when I got this notification now I gotta peel my eye lids back to watch this
Looking good . keep up the good work. Be safe
Great videos keep it up 👍
where is the ladder truck you guys were looking at . Might have come in handy Chet . Keep up the good work guy s enjoy watching!
Hopefully some good will come with all of this.
With that souble decker idea ?... Think about using shipping containter length wise or stacked with a metal stairway !... Much cheaper and more weather proof !! Just an idea !!
You could plant rye in the spreader then disk it up on the ground that doesn’t get planted
Suction is a pretty important thing when you’re drinking out of a straw
You guys get things DUN!
Chet...is that YOUR hand washing Tank...cause I remember when you had a white bucket for your hand washer!!
Gotta wait a few weeks for the tin. Go grab some off the old grain silo in the field.
Hurricane Hangers are you going to install or strap the rafters with plumbers tape🤠🤔
The next morning Chet looks 5 years younger.
Prob finally got some sleep😂
Hey Chet should put an extra board by the door so you could install a Pully to pull pails of tools up
Good video good to see y'all again
Good forward thinking 🤔
I always get a kick out of watching the Larson boys attempt construction. These can be real head shakers lol
Dougo at about 12:40 min gave new idea for tshirt. What's one more. He was talking about bin roof..

I sure hope that the new second story is adequately connected to the first floor, else it will just blow off during the next big windstorm!
code is 24 in on centre for rafters
Can't have dougo doing angle cuts and framing, he'll still be working on it next spring lol.
You gonna use the "strong ties" to hold the roof to the walls? This time you may wanna make sure she stays put.
Great video thanks again
Dougo-"Well, I'm going up there." Chet-"No you aren't." :)
Sure hope you get a fair recovery for the damage and a sizable harvest.

Family politics! The best kind...
What you described as a sil, is actually called a rim joist
For future reference push your headers above doors and windows to the top plate in case you need to install a larger one in the future.
You could add spiral stairs inside the building to have a set of internal stairs that wouldn’t take up a lot of space
Chet Eric Dougo Broodie and Randy that was great you have to get repairs going on the bins catwalks ladderstops that would be nice thank you Chet great video.
thought the next time you need to empty the pits. call a septic pumping company and see how much they would pump the pits out for.
I'll second the motion three more cheers for Eric....
The roof trusses should be 24 inches apart!
Just put down a small bin for your electric shed 🤠
Did you get all of Eriks land planted?
Maybe a 20 feet ship container would do..
Get ya Some Zip Tape it’s 6” wide made to Waterproof Windows!
Build that Wall
You going add a reinforced roof? I think Dougo could us a hammock up on the second level.
Your the best guys
