All this talk of Kyogo leaving has me shite'n myself. Is everyone taking crazy pills? He is by far our best striker at the club. Im sorry but Idah isnt it, he has been very unconvincing for me and he doesnt give us that composure with the ball in the forward areas. We would be mad to sell Kyogo.
I agree re Kyogo - I think that unless Kyogo himself wants to go then we should not sell him unless it’s for absolutely ridiculous money. He is by far our best striker & draws defenders away to let others score. Rarely disagree with Melly & co but guys ffs - cannae sell Kyogo,!🤦♀️ 😂🍀
I cannot see us selling him 1. Before the next 2 UCL games, where new players are ineligible and we'd have just Idah and Kenny as strikers. 2. Without a replacement as 1st choice striker coming in this January. Apparently the MLS window stays open into February but I don't see him leaving before summer. Too mad a gamble
We will have to at 1 point. Everyone was sad when Hart retired now we have fans loving Kasper more. Rogic was hard to replace then O'Reilly fitted in perfectly. Just never know in football. Can buy a player for 3M, who scored 100 goals in 150 games, 10+ against them & 15 in Europe in 3 seasons or buy a 10M dud who scores 3 goals a season 😅 This season is best to sell though with being so far ahead that we only need him realistically for 4 CL games & hopefully 4 Scottish cup games.
I suppose the difference is Taylor wants to stay but Celtic aren't meeting his wage demands. Other players in the past have wanted out and we have held on to our detriment.
Can’t disagree with Melly more. ‘Kyogo isn’t banging them in’ he’s our top scorer in the league and ‘Idahs all round play has been good’ his play has been terrible, half his touches end up further back than the original pass
I often find myself disagreeing with Melly on most things and once again it’s hard to listen to his nonsense re Kyogo! This is mad stuff here altogether you have a striker the next best thing since Henrik.. you forget how the 30+ year old Henrik went on to play for ManU and win Champions league La Liga medals for Barca. He’s ( Kyogo) 30, but has the the engine of a 24 year old looks after himself and some people on here thinking cos hes 30 now he’s on the slide. Poor stuff! Kyogo must stay absolutely madness to let him go!
Couldn’t agree more!! Utter woke nonsense talking about getting rid of him because of his age and getting some sort of fee for him. He’s more than paid back his fee the goals he’s scored and far to hard to replace at the moment.
Idah was signed on the basis of one goal. The fans clamoured for his signing,so, only themselves to blame in a way. Maybe Kyogo wants to try something else. Good luck to him,he’s been brilliant for us.
Depends how much we get for him and who we replace him with. On the face of it, I agree it'd be madness to sell him in this window but we do not have all of the information. On the face of it, it was madness to sell Di Canio and replace him with a winger from Feyenoord reserves. So as I say, it depends on what else is going on in the background.
qualification for next years CL should be the priority and we have a better chance of doing so with Kyogo in the team, not worth selling him for 10 mil now or in the summer.
@20 minute tims melly was on the telly 😂😂against killie right after the ludicrous penalty around 49mins. Fizzing he was. That's an opportunity for the next show for a good howl 😂🍀
We NEED to beat Young Boys and qualify. We NEED to find our form again. Its not only about getting into the latter stages of UCL but I dont want our board to have any reason whatsoever to say "see all that money was a waste, might as well go back to 3 million transfers and be content with winning the league, after all thats how we got Kuhn" I dont care if we do it in the most boring way possible but we need to find stability in our performance again. a game every 3 days over such a long period time has run our squad into the ground I get that and I know this comes off as da' patter but some players need to understand that not giving it your all like against Dundee is not okay.
Media training ABCD is Acknowledge, Bridge, Control, Dangle IIRC. Not just most footballers, but most politicians and corporate business people (the ones I dealt with most often). It’s tedious. When I was interviewing people in the past and they began a reply with: “That’s a great question” I normally cut in to say “Not really” or something similar. In about 90 per cent of cases that threw them off their media train tracks, at least temporarily. In a press conference it can occasionally be useful to immediately ask the previous journo’s question again, but because that is in public view it can be particularly risky. You’re unlikely to given the opportunity to ask again.
Firstly I love the wee guy, he’s absolutely class. However, Brendan prefers a more powerful team, I think we lack physically against bigger teams, I also thought at the end of last season that team was done and I expected them to reshape. It seems natural to me that that team comes to an end and there’s a refresh. They must to keep players motivated and hungry. If this is all probable I’ll be delighted that he was here and served us so well. However the player trading model allows us to trade up. Which means incomings may be even better. I’m excited about the future.
Can’t believe why anyone would think it’s a good idea to let the best striker in the league leave Celtic at such a crucial time in the season, it truly beggars belief. Kyogo is still a top player and hasn’t been utilised properly by Roger’s. There no chance in hell that we’ll get a player close to Kyogos level in this transfer window
I very much doubt Rodgers wants to be left going for the Treble & the knock out stages of the Champions League with Idah & a couple of guys from the League of Ireland. So I'll be surprised if Kyogo goes without another striker coming in, or a winger who could enable Maeda to shift into the centre.
H H , Might I suggest? The Villa game will reflect where we are better than Young Boys. Loads of clever rotation and squad management is about to come to fruition,or not, Killie in the Cup has stealthily become huge in our season. It could be absolutely amazing come the end of the season .😁
I don’t even listen to most of Rodgers’ press conferences now. He talks a load of shite, you have to take anything he says with a massive pinch of salt.
The ‘haven’t won a knockout tie past Christmas since 2004’ patter needs to stop. We’ve only managed it in 3 of the last 50 seasons! 😂 - Basel (74), Stuttgart (03) & Barca (04). We’re trying to break from the norm!!! HH🍀
We can't sell him because we can't rely on Idah. Idah is absolutely tragic just now, never in the right position, touch like an elephant. 9m down the drain.
Can we really replace Kyogo for 7 or 8 mil ? His movement is phenomenal and if he moves we will see how much we miss him . I know he has to go sometime but kinda cacking myself on this one.
Rough criteria for even being considered for "legend" status IMHO: (Lisbon Lions are a given, so I'm not even discussing them) 100+ goals for the club 200+ appearances for the club 10+ years service to the club as player and/or manager Winning a European trophy of some description (or getting to a final even) I'm not saying any of the above would automatically make you a legend. I'm saying that if you don't at least fall in to one of those categories, then there's not even a conversation to be had. So for me Kyogo isn't even in the conversation yet.
Rodgers ain't leaving early again but won't sign a new contract. He is here to make up for what he did wrong the first time but just like players after 2/3 season they get bored of Scottish football. A newly promoted club or first manager sacked in the PL may look at Rodgers but I think he would like to manage somewhere that'll be new and exciting for him once he does leave like MLS or Spain for his tan 😅😂 but no way he will extend his contract. If he leaves after 3 seasons with 3 titles, maybe 1 treble and all in 6 or 7 trophies I don't think anyone could hate him anymore
@43.30 - 'no-one is out to get you' may be true for 20 Minute Tims and other fan based platforms, but the media in general are always on the look out for the controversial. Particularly in this era of social media and arguably in a country where there is already media bias. Probably the only football guy that has got away with 'speaking from the heart' was Klopp at Liverpool but that was in England, and that was Klopp.
Henrik was much more of an asset to the club by keeping him and not cashing in. Kyogo is in the same conversation as if he’s allowed to walk then where are you getting a striker who gives as much goals and pitch coverage? Let’s kick this conversation into touch as it’s giving me the shits.
Take the money and move on. He will be remembered as one of the best goal scorers against Rangers but he misses too many chances and goes AWOL far too often and we look stale.. Great guy. He simply can't leave without a major replacement.
Would you guys not rather he left in the summer? Personally Id rather keep the wee man but if he has to go why would you think of selling him this window? How are we gonna replace a key player like that with upcoming champions league games in so little time. Doubt Kyogo at your peril 🍀
can we please stop treating Kyogo like 30 is the end of his career, Larsson's 4 best scoring season for us was when he was 29-33 ffs Kyogo has plenty of time left.
Might be time to cash in. Leagues won. His impact in the CL hasnt been great so that leaves the SC which we can win without the wee man. A true hun skelper, best of luck to him 🍀
