I have been a dt user for several years. It's interesting to see other users' workflow and technique. Yours is very similar to mine. I tend to make more use of the tone equaliser especially for very high dynamic range images. I also make use of the masking details threshold in the exposure module for enhancing texture and contrast in areas of shadow in landscapes. Another module I find useful in some landscapes, especially mountainous is the haze removal with a negative value on distant mountains. I have considered making similar videos of my techniques but I don't think they would be as polished as yours. Thank you for your efforts. I have subscribed and liked.
Sorry for the clippy audio in this one folks. OBS wasn't playing nicely so I had to use an alternative that was a bit aggressive with the background noise reduction.
Few tips.... Rather than right clicking when you want a second instance of a module, use ctrl+click (in conjunction with a preference change to "prompt for name on new module instance"). This will then automatically allow you to name the new module instance all in one click. Also, rather than manually adjusting every node on a drawn mark to reduce/increase the feather, use shift+mousewheel to grow/shrink the feather. And when using Retouch, if you right click and drag, you'll be able to create the destination shape with the right click, and denote the source point with the drag+mouse release.
I notice your texture preset is often acting on the right past the visible scale levels indicated by the dark bars... these bars will change with zoom level but indicate the range of scale of the image visibaly impacted so if the goal is an effect visible at full screen then you might need to tweak it so that it is working within the bars... and not outside them.... great edit I love the way you work nicely throught the process.... thanks for all your time...very nice contribution to darktable community...
@@kennethjeffery7457 I have just this morning crossed the 3000 view hours threshold that RUclips requires to enable channel memberships, "super chats" and so on. It takes a couple of days to go through and I'll be considering what member benefits I might offer (it'll be something small like 99p/¢ per month I would think). Any ideas welcome!
@@DarktableLandscapes I've been thinking about it. I for one like one and done payments. $ 5 or ten seems reasonable. I think money could be made selling presets and styles. Just a thought...Ken
You can retract or expand the edge-feathering of the drawn mask equally around with Shift + mouse-wheel while pointing inside the mask. To my taste the reflection in the water and on the sheep became a bit too coloured. Otherwise a pleasant demonstration and result. I am looking forward to likewise examples.
Could you do a small explanation of the 4 ways tab on the colour balance rgb module I have been using DT for about 3 years but never understood it But grate video
Great

I'm glad you fixed the car headlights, they were screaming at me right from the start!
A shameless tactic to keep you watching 😉
@@DarktableLandscapes It worked!

Sorry, I misspoke. For Retouch, LEFT click and drag....
Really enjoying these videos. Lots of great technics without over complicating the process. Thanks for sharing

I've seen the light! I plan on abandoning my other editing software after seeing your magic using Darktable.
If only I was on commission! 😄
