This video showed complicated way to change temperature sensor for this car, all I need to do is from the top side disconnect intake hose and push it to a side then unplug the temperature sensor then plug it to the new sensor, as soon the old sensor moved from the engine quickly light in the new one and secure the clip, small a mount of coolant come out depend how quick you are. No need to drain the whole coolant system.
there are 2 temperature sensors here...one on radiator on passenger side on the bottom. Good luck washing your eyes with coolant while replacing those))) but for top one you are right..do it fast and don't need to drain anything. Just add a little bit of new one
Just to note: This sensor will allow failure of the fan to run under normal operation (driving), but a good scan tool will tell you under "live data" that the fan is only about 20%-40% "requested" and never goes higher despite coolant temp on scanner going to temps over 224 deg. F. and your interior temp gauge in the dash showing normal range or slightly less than half point. (NOTE: On modern Chevy's the temp gauge actually doesn't read correctly due to how they are wired into the system, so you cannot rely on them like old cars were--you can be overheating and they may not alert you at all in cases with this sender failure :( --- (ANyway: In order to test your fan motor ,turn on AC (unless an intermittent issuel. (once fan resistor or motors crap out--it wont work at all.. or only on high speed, if resistor is bad, they deteriorate due to water exposure and rapid temp cycles) common failure.. , yes, just the resistor is available if you don't want/need a whole new assembly.. Amazon has 1 seller currently.. ,dealers do not sell it separately.. 😒
hello friend thanks for the comment, could you help me? I have a Cruze 2013 AT and when the engine is at working temperature with the pointer in the middle when I stop at a traffic light the rpms drop, this only happens when it is warmed up, and when I turn on the AC the oscillation stops completely and the car comes back to normal, could it be this sensor? I recorded a video if you can see it I would be very happy thanks ruclips.net/user/shortsk-bcwGE_xfc
No need to drain coolant at all, it pops out without moving anything out if they way and then pop new one in put clip back and your done
Great to know currently going through this process with 2015 Cruze might as well do thermostat & hose

You really need to let people know there are TWO temp sensors on these cars. The other is on the radiator. I found out $150 later when I took the car to a mechanic. Otherwise, nice video.
Yep. And they should learn English as well. "Okay guys?"
@@nunnyabizness Your dumb is showing.
How much on average do you think it would cost to replace both? I have a quote from a guy that said it would cost 700$ it seems way to expensive for labor costs to replace just 2 sensors
@@oberynredviper7828 Appreciate the positive comment.
@@samnd98 I won’t hazard a guess, but there is a bit of labor involved. There is a specific procedure for refilling the coolant that can take some time depending on your luck. Also, I found sensor prices all over the board, the most expensive being OEM.
When removing sensor, make sure the rubber seal gasket (on the cylinder insert) comes out with it. Old one got stuck inside after removing old one, couldn't get the new one in, figured it out after a few, but kind of annoying lol
Hello. How did you get the old of ring out of the hole? Im having the same problem.THanks...
@@joannarouse1511 how did you get it out?
Fuck
Thank for the help. save me $500+ on repair. Your the best!

Very bold doing that with your ring my man
You guys help me so much, figured id give a comment!
Gawd I luv my repair car videos
Does this car has a second sensor ??
Cause i think there is another one behind the thermostat under the cable behind the thermostat
Hey yea it does. Look for a silver clip similar to the one on the sensor located by the fan. Its located on or near the thermostat housing.
Replaced thermostat but car still tends to randomly head into overheat mode would replacing this be the first step before replacing thermostat again?
I changed both of my sensors and didn’t drain the antifreeze
Wheres the second one located
May I ask where the second sensor is. I watch this whole video I thought he was going to explain where both of them are. I'm getting a code saying the car is overheating AC will be shut off and the car has not even ran for a full minute. I replace the coolant temperature sensor but I can't figure out where the other sensor is. Thanks for any help
@@theeabster1983 you need to clear the code after replacing it. I never found a second sensor and the code remains after replacing it. If you dont have a scan tool disconnect the battery
@@jeanjacque1577 I did clear the codes. And the error code went off after about 50 miles and came back on. After leaving this message I found another video on RUclips it's about a minute 40 seconds long and it's the only one that points out a second sensor embedded in the passenger side of the actual radiator lower passenger side. It's my son's car I'm going to have him check to see if it's actually there tomorrow and go from there. Thanks for getting back to me. I asked this question on several videos and you're the only one that ever answered me
@@theeabster1983 I never changed the second one cause I never found it, it was a friends car I was working on but the sensor I changed was only part of the problem, he also had a hairline crack in the thermostat housing so ended up just changing the thermostat, thermostat housing and sensor and it corrected the problem
Thanks, 2016 Chevrolet Cruze 1.8L.
So I replaced the stock thermostat last year around july/august and then this month i got the check engine and got the P0128 error and i didnt think it was the thermostat already being bad, so i decided to replace this sensor to see if maybe it was just that, did that and it still didnt work so i unplugged the battery to reset the code, then plugged it back in and started the car and immediately the ac turned back on so im hoping this did the trick
Thank to you I just fixed this problem on my car. Helpful video as long it is watched carefully. Great video🚗🚗🚗🚗voom! voom!
Verry helpfull video ..Thank's
Having a reoccurring check engine light ... I changed my thermostat housing and restarted the battery ... same code keeps coming on would this fix this problem?
You have to clear the code through a scan tool.
Do you use the same temperature sensor for the one on the thermostat and the one on the radiator? I have a 2014 chevy cruze.
I believe so. I only found 1 part number for both. To be 100% sure, ask ur local GM parts department dealer
I'd love to hear him say "I'll be back!"
Can I put the same collant back in the car or should I buy more and put in new coolant?
Thank you for making this video.
May I suggest you have someone operate the phone/camera while you're showing what you're doing please. You were working on a cruze, mine is sonic. They aren't even in the same place. Concept the same, but still, not all of us "get it", which is why we're on here looking for help.
Guaranteed, I'll NEVER buy another chevy after this car.
They've lost a solid buyer for three decades of purchases.
This line of cars is the worst crap I've ever had to deal with.
He’s a rebel. He doesn’t use gloves omg!!!! What a bad man you are!!!!!! 😂
There is another temperature sensor on the opposite side of the engine. If this video I clouded both locations it would have been more awesome but thank you still

Same as the Vauxhall Mokka👍
Hello, please. Does this sensor cause a delay in starting in cold weather? I have Orlando 2012. In cold weather, it does not work until after 8, 9, or even 10 times, depending on the weather temperature. Every time the weather is cold in the morning, I turn on a greater number of times. We exchanged the heating plugs and the circuit Responsible and did not solve the problem
Hi, i have a 2012 Chevy Aveo(sonic) and i had the same problem as you. I replaced my cooling sensor and that solved my problem.
@@eetub8936 The problem was solved, and there was oxidation in the spark plug cable. Thank you for the response
Can you make a video replacing the sensor located on the radiator passenger side.
Thanks
To not make a mess but a bigger hose that’s long enough to touch the rim of the bucket and you can save youre coolant/money
I love your videos, they're very helpful.
Good job always. where are you guys at. Do you have any outlet here in Houston. TX.
I'm in Houston also
Thanks for sharing
Life saver 👏🏾💯
Where is the coolant temperature center on the diesel version.
Very good content! Thanks
Yeah I got a 1. 6 4 Chevrolet Aveo yeah mine takes like 3 minutes to change it from the top
I have code 4 what does that mean on my 1.8 l Chevy sonic?
Hi, I have replaced the Sensor but still gauge still on Zero.
Only cranks but doesn't Start
which item is more prone to fail, the thermostat or the sensor(s)?
Cheaper and easier to just replace the housing everything you need Wil be there. It comes with the thermostat and sensor
Is that the sensor for the ECU or the gauge? The one that kicks out the check engine code isn't the gauge. ..
Does anyone know / have a link to where the video on bleeding the system Is?
After changing the t stat upper an lower sensors,an fan assembly 3 days later no cool why won't the hi speed fan an blower won't come on I feel they gave me the wrong upper sensor
I replaced mine because it's sitting right on the top of the engine next to the top radiator hose and I didn't see any reason to drain the coolant system.🙄
and it fixxed the fan connstantly running?
I got chevy malibu 2018 ist overheath how iknow if is the headgasket i ready chance water pump termostat radiator end stell overheath
Hi, where should I find sensor at 2014 cruze 2L diesel 120kw?
Do you have a video on replacing the one on the other (passanger) side? Does the same part fits?
It is the same part. Located on the passenger side, near the botton of the radiator.
@Toiga Tuning I actually replaced the part a couple weeks ago. It was fairly easy however I did let the clip drop that holds it in place, and it was never seen again so then I had to find a ride to the nearest advanced auto parts to get a replacement. However, they are not the same parts. The sensor on the radiator side has tin contacts whereas the one by the water outlet has golden ones
Does this sensor send the signal to dashboard?
Yes👍
On my chev cruze fun is running one way Noone stop what could be the problem sir
Temperature down ac/ air-con stop. Can u explan what is the problem.. Covlolet captiva 2.4 Turbo
What happens if you install the sensors in the wrong locations? (Put the radiator sensor in the water outlet and the water outlet sensor in the radiator)
Teşekkür ederim çok faydalı videolar 👍🇹🇷
Hey great video. What is the name of the right angle pipe at the top of the thermostat? The one that goes to the pipe that runs across the back of the engine right to the other side? Mine is broken where the pipe pushes onto it.
The throttle body inlet heater pipe hose I’m pretty sure
@@miguelrebollar1535 thanks mate
Why drain the Coolant?? Unless I'm missing something on this vehicles
Do you have to drain the coolant? I changed mine and now radiator fan and ac not working
What did you end up doing? I was also wondering if I have to drain the coolant? When you pulled the sennsor out without draining the coolant did it spill everywhere in your motor??
Does anyone know if this is a repair for OBDII Code P00B4 ???
Do you really have to drain the antifreeze? Is it mandatory??
No. I never drain the fluid that's pour money down the drain
Hi Guys . i have one cruz 2011 , and i have a problem of cooling sensor but the sensor is not like this i think . it 's placed at the top of the hard tube from the radiator to engin
Is this sensor identical to the one on the side of the radiator.
Did you figure out if they are the same sensor?
so is this for code PO 186?
thanks for sharing this video, could you please answer:
what temperature on the normal running on your Cruze 1.8 ? My Cruze is showing temp ~ 102-103 Celcius when operating.
is it true if GM intendedly design higher engine temperature than the others?
It's right under the hood, it's a sticker look as soon as you open the hood on the plastic above the unlock latch
Mine was fuse box relay termales loose not conection on relay
Hi. The same for chevy aveo 5 2009 ?
That isn't the thermostat. Not even the thermostat housing. You also skipped a sensor.
‘’Always use scissors when cutting hair guys don’t ask why I’m using chainsaw guys’
What’s the metal spring/ clip called... mine went flying 😂
I JUST GOT A 2014 CHEVY LT. FAN STAYS ON WHEN ENGINE IS OFF, COOLANT DONT STAY IN THE CAR, IT BOILS LIKE OVERHEATING. WHAT CAN I DO? WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. PLEASE HELP
Have you tried the sensor? Fan should stay on when the engine is off for a couple of mins
Please I need your help my Chevy Cruze 2011 have problem my coolant water is boiling I change the head gasket and thermostat and still I have same problem I took it to more than one mechanic nobody solve the problem
Change sensor
Hey mate where can I purchase a new sensor and clip my clip isn’t going over it properly
If the clip isn’t going into place you probably left the old o-ring in the hole remove it then reassemble clip should slide into place
Hello boss you working wich contry
Do you know the resistance of this sensor?
Okay so I keep getting a/c off due to high engine message and my fan is blowing hard.
I think your thermostat valve is not opening @80-82 degree Celsius, so the coolant is not flowing through the radiator, and hence its overhearing. You can check it by touching the engine to radiator inlet pipe(if its not hot after 10 mins of starting the engine there is a thermostat valve blocking the flow of coolant ).
@@akshaykumarshetty316 but wouldn't a bad sensor cause this to happen?
I've been thru FIVE thermostats in less than three years. All the while, I find out the sensors are pretty much crap.
Sensor not working right, thermostat won't either....right?
Dear
followers!! Don't let the beautiful pictures confuse you . Anyone who
buys a new car from GENERAL Motors the chance you threw your money into
the trash is very large. In this company there is no customer service,
the company's management does not care at all, if you have a problem or a
malfunction, you can only pray to God there is a chance that the help
will come faster. GM is a very dangerous company, be careful and keep
your money safe.!!!Share so more people don't get screwed.GM is a big bluff
Since just about everything you do is at front of the car, why not leave the panels off?. I stored mine in the basement. For years, cars didn't have all of this bs on the.
no need to empty the system
I replaced all cooling sensors
Replaced radiator replaced thermostat housing all hoses new fans water pump
Car is still throwing it’s over heating daily
I’ve had Chevy look at it so many times they threw there hands in the air and said there not sure anymore what do I do 😞
joel herder So sorry to hear that.. have you tried disconnecting the thermostat as a whole?
I have Opel Vectra C with Z18XER motor (1.8, 140PS) and problem of throwing coolant out (like overheating). But it is not overheating at my case. Problem is in radiator cap expansion:
i.ebayimg.com/images/g/e~IAAOSwtphc4rNM/s-l400.jpg
More precisely, smaller O-ring does not keep the pressure and allows to throw coolant away at working temperature (103-108 Degrees Celsius). I bought several original Opel caps (once part of GM, same as Chevrolet) and none of original caps kept pressure. So look at it, if it is easy to unscrew, then the cap doesn't hold pressure.
If you have the same problem as I have, then this is my solution:
I put thread seal tape:
5.imimg.com/data5/KW/UF/MY-39233334/teflon-tape-2f-ptfe-tape-500x500.jpg
in O-ring groove (wrapped about 15 times - thickness of my tape is 0.075mm) and put O-ring 23x4mm in groove. Works like a charm. Bought several O-rings more for substitution when needed (O-ring costs me approx 1$/piece and original cap cost me more then 25$ - and doesn't work).
Hope to help if someone has same issue.
@6:51
Puts bucket to catch draining coolant. Coolant goes everywhere. Typical GM crap engineering, can't even plan for proper fluid drains.
Under the hood, the 2013 Chev Cruz is quite different than the 2013 Malibu, enough so that this video is of less help.

When I change the sensor I need to replace the cooler fluid?
