Looks like a really nice place to work. Sadly in a few short years they would not need a HQ nearly that big. The stock price plummeted after Bhopal. GAF attempted a hostile take over. UCC sold of many divisions. Eveready and Energizer went to Ralston Purina. Automotive products were spun off as First Brands. Industrial gasses were spun off as Praxair. There were other divestitures. Then in 2001 whatever was left was absorbed by Dow.

This place is now 'The Summit at Danbury'. It seems to be filling up with lots of cool businesses, and there will be appartments soon.

Terrible shame if it's empty. A great place to work!

This place was built for 190million, sold in 2002 for 72 million then again in 2016 for 18 million… a dinosaur, an infrastructure that no longer has a need…

this building actually blends into the landscape well for how massive it is. It must have been lavish working at a place like that. Today companies are trying to get people into "hot desks" where you dont even have a dedicated desk let alone your own office with furniture you can customize.

How much useful work actually happened at this place. They probably could of fired half the staff or more at this office building and not impacted production at all.

What is this building used for today since Dow now owns UCC?

This building was constructed to satisfy corporate excess like lots of things Union Carbide seemed to do. Build something supposedly state of the art and pour millions of dollars into it, then a few short years later it turns out to be out of date, a money loser and no longer suitable.

@@THECHEWBACCA41 It's actually being redeveloped now, they're spending $200 million to bring it up to date and are building 400 luxury apartments on one side of the complex and business offices on the other. The people who've taken it over have had many successful ventures in the past and it seems to be doing well! Here's some info about it: thesummitatdanbury.com/
