They're so young though. To ask such a young person to risk that is a tough call.

Totally agree, but believe me when you're in that position, you really don't care. And it's not just in cheer it happens in many sports :)

injuries just happen sometimes, i was in a situation myself where i got injured and had to quit cheer. your health obviously should come first. alyssa isn't in the right shape to do the routine so the team won't benefit having her there for competitions. she should quit and get her surgery and heal. stuff like that just happens and you gotta deal with it

I'm a worlds athlete at Cheer Athletics, and we are allowed to chew gum in the gym. We all do it because it helps prevent that dry-mouth feeling during intensive practices.

4 and a half months ago tore my Meniscus at cheer. Let me tell you no pain that I have ever felt compared to that. I've dislocated my hip 3 times at cheer and those three times combined can not even measure up. I had my surgery and I still have a good 3 to 4 months of extensive physical therapy and the possibility of not cheering next season. She shouldn't risk it. As cheerleaders we dedicate our bodies to this sport and there is a line that has to be drawn, she needs the surgery.
as a disabled person, dancer and ex gymnast, its not worth it. i have missed out on so much of my life because of my disability and seeing someone saying they would rather do a few competitions and then never be able to walk again than do the thing that will definitely prevent it hurts a lot. people have no idea of the challenges disabled people face daily, the discrimination and hardships we have to face is something you do not understand even if you think you do. its never worth it and you will regret it.
God bless the Lord loves you more than you can ever imagine so much so that he gave his only son to die on the cross to bear our sins so that we'd be completely pardoned from sin and its eternal consequences if we believe he died for our sins and repent from our sinful and worldly ways(turn from and turn to God) - life is short and our only chance to get right with God, take it ❤ YOU CAN DO IT
This season is such a tough one for smoed. A team where stunt groups are not consistent this close to comp is kinda doomed to fail. Though smoed is so amazing, their work ethic alone will get them through this season. I personally believe they work the hardest. CEA and all the other gyms are amazing, though something about smoeds drive puts the above everyone else. I have no doubt that they can come back from this. I have never seen a team get this much bad news after bad news. Smoed is doing extremely well considering they lost 1 of their best flyers. They lost half of last seasons team, and they still don't have a complete team. I am so proud of them for continuing to push so hard.
Toughing it out through a torn meniscus? That's a great idea! Totally not a sure-fire way to put you out of cheer for the rest of your life if you continue to push it! Go Alyssa!
I did the same with dance. I have horrible knees but I kept going but now i had to stop because my doctor said "you either dance for a couple more years and not walk for the rest of your life or take a break and be able to walk and dance."

It's because she constantly couldn't get the grips.
Because she can't get her grips and the others in that stunt group have been on the team in previous years and they were able to do it.

It doesn't make sense to blame Jessica regardless of the grips.. They tried lots of people in her spot and no one could make it go and now Madi isn't flying because no one could make it hit. So she obviously wasn't the problem

It doesn't matter. Smoed can be bad but they will fight and try their best. Just because Gabi left doesn't mean there bad
Hannah Pae She didn't say they were bad. Smoed is still a great team.. but after one piece of the puzzle is lost it's hard to regroup sometimes and get back into the grove of performing together. Especially when it's your best and point flyer that leaves. But I'm sure Madi will step up and do really good, it just takes time.
A team is multiple people working towards one goal. The team is not broken with out Gabi they have to just work harder and fine someone who can consistently hit the main stunt.
In my opinion, Smoed was already struggling at the beginning of this season. The entire team doesn't seem to be meshing as well as they used to, and that's not just because Gabi left. Maybe Gabi left because Smoed was struggling and she wanted to try a different team where the members worked together more effectively? We'll never know.

Madi has been flying her whole life there is a back spot that has won 3 world championships and then Dylan is one of the strongest boys on the team so obviously is was Jessica who was the weakest link in the group

I am hoping that they will step it up and act like a family. I strive to watch SMOED every week and this just isnt the SMOED that i was watching before Gabi left. Im not saying that Gabi is the reason they are not cheering like SMOED but i really hope that Gabi wants to come back.:)

What does "division" mean in cheerleading? Cause i just saw someone saying smoed isnt on the same division as the team that dylan is now cheering for and i have no idea what that means hahaha
Teams are separated by gender and size. The team Dylan's on is a large coed team. But smoed is small coed. So they wouldn't compete against each other

Clearly she is putting herself first rather than her team. If she truly cared about SMOED she wouldn’t even hesitate to leave the team and go get surgery rather than try to be selfish and stay on. She is wasting the coach’s and team’s time when they could be bring in an athlete that isn’t injured and practicing with them.

Is she trying to make herself sound super duper brave or something? Shes talking about how bad it will get if she leaves it and it gets worse, but how she can tough it out. Not brave, but stupidity in my opinion. I wouldnt allow someone with those safety standards to be on my team - lord knows the hazard she could pose to other athletes.
