    Grew up there in the 70''s, I'm from Honokai Hale, a mile east of Kahe Point. This was a surf spot that you could stay at all day! The warm water that came out from the power plant made it like a " Bathtub." We surfed with black tip sharks all around us, in fact, I remember 1 pregnant large black tip one summer, she was huge. The sharks never bothered us, and let me tell you, their were alot. The best lefts and rights ever. I was so fortunate to have grown up in that era. Now, I look at it, and it is so different. Thanks for your story 🤙

    I lived in Waianae long time ago. The 90s. I did snorkel there a few times. Nice spot. I did see one little reef shark there.

    Great video and breakdown of snorkel options here. Wished I watched this before I went. I’ll keep this in mind for my next visit though!

    When is the best time to go. We went a few years ago and the waves were decent made it hard to get out and back in. This video the waters seem pretty clam.

    With kids or slow swimmer. How is the fishes just 20-30ft from shore? Thanks

      As soon as you get past where the waves break you should see little pockets of smaller "baby" fish cruising around... plus the water in that area is only about 10ft deep (fairly similar to what you might find off of queens beach in Waikiki)
      Also, bringing floaties or "boogie boards" for your weaker swimmers can really keep things more relaxed and enjoyable... just watch out for the wind; it typically blows out to sea and some days it's quite strong

    Winter vs summer? Is it ever gental enough during the winter for snorkeling here?

    • @gogorental
      @gogorental  10 месяцев назад

      Winter has some good days! just make sure yo check the weather and surf reports. Ideally you want to see "flat" or "0-1 ft" with winds 10 mph or less
