Note: Jennifer Hudson is one of the many producers for A Strange Loop. And if Strange Loop does win the Best Musical, Hudson will win a Tony and become an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winner).
Please make a t-shirt with "sir, MEOW!" on the front (preferably in a speech bubble coming out of a terrifying Brendon cat cartoon) and "you never seen a guy in a cat costume drink milk out of a bowl on the brooklyn bridge??" In a big block on the back. I can see it so clearly
I don't want to root for anyone to lose, that seems mean, but I pictured Brent doing that losing challenge, and it was one of the most delightful and hilarious things I'd ever imagined. So I kiiiiind of want it to be a reality. So sorry Brent. Best of luck to everyone though. With a punishment like that, I think that no matter who loses, we are all winners.
Six's costumes are absolutely iconic now. If WIL didn't have a bunch of accusations against him I'd say Diana should win. He's had a long career he doesn't need another award, though I loved Diana. But having seen Paul Tazewell's other work, I haven't even seen MJ but I KNOW those costumes are amazing.
Yeah The Music Man is aggressively The Music Man haha. The thing I was most excited for that I’ve never seen done well live was the School Board Barber Shop Quartet. It was close but not quite as good as I wanted it to be😖
The Music Man is possibly my favorite musical of all time (grew up watching the Matthew Broderick movie version) but like… I don’t really get all the nominations for this revival? Like did they do anything particularly innovative, did the performances really stand out? Everything I’ve seen of it seems like it was Just The Music Man.
@@snuffysam the only thing they did was change the lyrics to Shapoopi to make it about consent somehow? Like it kept going back and forth as to whether it was the guy or the gal who was the Shapoopi. I was fine they didn’t really do anything innovative because sometimes a classic can just be a classic. It’ll be done soon. Once the stunt casting is over people will stop going. I can’t see them going full Chicago with it 🤪
Gotta say, your discussion makes me wonder: If Sondheim hadn't passed when he did, would The Music Man have fared better? Would Company not have resonated as much? I'd like to say no, based on the reception in London, but hm....
Great predictions guys! Would the forefit be even funnier in an ironic way if The Music Man won nothing? 😅 I'd love to watch the Tony's live for the first first time but I live in Ireland, any advice?
Joaquina kalukonga for Paradise Square for sure! Also paradise square for best choreography, imo. Best supporting actress I’m torn on. To be honest, I didn’t really think L. Morgan lees performance was any more of a stand out then the rest of the amazing cast. I saw the show after the nominations came out, so I knew she had a nomination. I was waiting for that big stand out moment or song or something, where it was like “THIS is why she’s Tony Nominee!” But It didn’t really come. So while I absolutely celebrate the historical nature of her nomination, if I’m looking at the performance itself, I don’t think it’s enough.
I think more people should have seen A Strange Loop because of the awards it got. Too bad it's closing early for no reason, and we'll probably never see a bootleg recording. Which someone needs to get on IMMEDIATELY.
Truthfully, I think Tony voters really loved Paradise Square for what it is and didn't pay attention to the awful producer and publicity. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up surprising everyone and winning Best Musical or Score. Everything in that show is strong except for the book, but that hasn't stopped Tony voters before (Dear Evan Hansen, Moulin Rouge, Hadestown, Hamilton). Some of the winners barely even have a book to begin with. Hoping they win something other than Leading Actress so they can stay open, they're going to close without wins and I would hate for them to lose their jobs. The other shows nominated for Best Musical are selling enough to at least get by, whereas Paradise Square needs a boost.
I definitely went into it thinking that if it was any other season ASL would sweep, but considering how BIG the season was AND that the body is still nowhere near as diverse, it would be a bit more spread out. Can’t wait to see it play out!
I’m honestly surprised Paradise Square didn’t get more nominations. It’s a phenomenal show and I’m sure it’ll take home quite a few Tony’s, definitely Best Actress (Paradise Sweep?).
Well...the Tony Awards are an award show as useless and corrupt as the Oscars and the Golden Globes...SO...whom do I have to bribe to make sure Brendon loses again?

now I have two reasons why I want A Strange Loop to win
and she got it
If a strange loop somehow loses best musical or best book to anything I will riot. It’s on a whole other level than any other new musical this season.

I second this, lol
"Six is Starlight Express if the trains had all married Henry VIII." Perfect. xD

By God I hope six wins something big. This show that I saw in a tiny fringe theatre a few years ago winning a fucking TONY would be so wonderful
six won two: costume and score
I will admit, I've only started watching WITW recently. And let me tell you, seeing brentalfoss was not something I was prepared for.
Man everyone is sleeping on Paradise Square. Their marketing department did them dirty.

Music Man wont win anything. This is coming from someone who saw it twice and loved it.
Music man did in fact win nothing
I noticed best featured actor was missing from your vid? Was curious on your thoughts for that 😲
I’m hoping for A Strange Loop to sweep!
Best featured actor? Matt Doyle
All great choices best of luck to everyone’s predictions. May you NOT sing You Got Trouble at the Marquis and if you do…hope the outfits nice.
Dear god that punishment is EVIL EVIL I SAY
I feel so bad for Six. If it weren't for the Pandemic it would've swept that years Tonys
Joaquina kalukonga for Paradise Square for sure!
Also paradise square for best choreography, imo.

Yeah, I feel like the most important part is... The performance 😅
What about best featured actor in a musical? I mean, we all know it's Doyle, but just wanted to hear your thoughts!
I think more people should have seen A Strange Loop because of the awards it got. Too bad it's closing early for no reason, and we'll probably never see a bootleg recording. Which someone needs to get on IMMEDIATELY.
Literally shaking at the fact you are going to torture these BJ fans 😭😭 im one of them we’re a whole different breed
WHOOO! Lets see how you used OUR predictions to make your own.
STRANGE LOOP SWEEP

Hamilton legit doesn’t have a book tho??
@@annabelcrescibene4257 that's my point. You don't need a strong book, or a book to begin with, in order to win.
@@cameronkentbrown Yeah does Hadestown even have a book-?
OH GOD NO THE PUNISHMENT IS EVIL SO EVIL 🥹🥹🥹
I definitely went into it thinking that if it was any other season ASL would sweep, but considering how BIG the season was AND that the body is still nowhere near as diverse, it would be a bit more spread out. Can’t wait to see it play out!
Y’all are sleeping on Girl from the North Country
I don’t know any of the nominations so I just hope who wins has/had the best music.
I’m honestly surprised Paradise Square didn’t get more nominations. It’s a phenomenal show and I’m sure it’ll take home quite a few Tony’s, definitely Best Actress (Paradise Sweep?).

Please learn to pronounce Joaquina Kalukango’s name.

I've never cared about the Tonys once in my life before. Suppose things change.
Sutton Foster was amazing
Where’s Featured Actor?
By my tally, Marc is the winner...again. Has Margaret had her fitting for a band uniform?
Did you skip best featured actor and best sound design for a reason?

Well...the Tony Awards are an award show as useless and corrupt as the Oscars and the Golden Globes...SO...whom do I have to bribe to make sure Brendon loses again?

Have lost all interest in the Tony awards.
I hope the music man win!!!!!!!! .all other shows suck!!! expect company.
As much as I love the Music Man, I must admit; you do sound a little stuck in the past.
