there's a theory going around that he wanted to have them killed but didn't want to do it himself in case it traced back to him, so he just kept them on in hopes that their stupidity would lead to their own demise.
that makes sense. i never watched the black and white anime. i stopped after diamond and pearl as that was when I reached the age of "growing out" of pokemon.
I don't know why but I was expecting the generic "Jessie actually had a mom who worked for team rocket whom she never knew and died looking for Mew" or "Jessie, James, Butch, and Cassidy have names inspired by famous outlaws." I was pleasantly surprised as I always am with your fact and trivia videos. I'm always amazed at how you find these facts.
Also, The names are a reference to Attila the Hun. He ruled the Huns from 434 to 453. While many probably noticed this already, I thought it was definitely worth the mention.
Fun fact; it’s actually not that surprising that a Belgium book was used as inspiration. In the early days of intercontinental trade Japan was relatively sheltered, save for the Dutch, who became the first country Japan open up to. In fact the word that means “study of foreign countries” in Japan can be translated directly as “Dutch learning”.
Well I think the tusk part is due to how they try to eliminate competition in other regions or even in Kanto specifically. I have heard one time that tusk meant rival or something which might be what it meant. I also wondered about why the girl that james is supposed to marry in the original series which looks a lot like her might reference between the two what parts of her he actually like and did not like such as anger and obsessive behaviors and what not.
I only one of them, which was the fact about Jessie and James being a part of a biker gang. My fave fact, tho, was James' backstory being based off of a European book!! I think that's really cool. James also happens to be my fave Pokemon character of all time. ^-^ Great video, btw!!
I guess one odd fact I'll hint too is in relation to Jessie's original pokemon in the first version of the anime, Arbok and Lickitung. Both of them might not seem so odd but back in the early days of the anime they definitely made some subtle and not so subtle suggestions that kids wouldn't get but older viewers.
I loved this video as I am a confessed Team Rocket nerd and thought I would challenge myself to if I knew all your facts, I was surprised when I didn’t, it was so refreshing to know there are still little facts out there. I was so happy Butch and Cassidy got a mention, I find they are overlooked and really liked your theory about their hair colours representing the first gen games!mind blowing! James and his growlithe was a good one too! Keep up the good work!
The grunts are the evil tusks... the full acronym is raid on the city. knock them out, my evil tusks... as Giovanni said it in lt surge’s flashback... so the evil tusks (grunts) are suppose to raid things and get into fights
On the Pokemon website the rate the in game pkmn yellow rockets, including Jesse and James, surprisingly, they talked pretty much how good of rockets they are and how the others should follow there example.
So the full acronym goes like this: Raid On the City! , Knock it out my Evil Tusks! The "Tusks' part stands for their "elite" troops (the ones in the manga are Harry, Al, and Ken, with their respective generals (commanders) (Lt. Surge, Sabrina, and Koga) When Giovanni stated this he was implying for his troops to "raid the city."
I didn't know the majority of these. I actually don't think I knew even one of them, and that's rare for me with list videos. I normally know at least one fact per list video, regardless of type of list video. So congrats Hoops, on subverting the usual.
As you said about Jessie being based off the writer's ex-girlfriend, we can easily assume how she acted. Since Jessie is egotistical, pompous as all hell, and down right abusive to James and Meowth, it's likely that Takeshi's ex had all of these traits, but this raises a question in my head. Why ever give Jessie a happy ending? Now, it's not often that Team Rocket gets happy ends, but out of the three members of Team Rocket, it's Jessie that usually gets the most attention and happy ends in comparison to the other two. For example, in Princess vs Princess, even though Jessie ends up losing the tournament, James and Meowth cheer Jessie up by dressing as the dolls themselves, ending with one of the sweetest moments of the anime. Another example would be the episode Holy Matrimony, the one with James and Growlie. In this episode, at the end, Jessie and Meowth assume James ended up marrying Jessebelle, when in reality he was giving up Growlie to protect his parents, and sadly walk off in the sunset. It's only when James returns to them in the Meowth balloon reciting Jessie's part of their motto that they realize he's not leaving Team Rocket. The episode ends with Jessie climbing into the balloon and embracing James. Another sweet end for the criminal duo. So I ask again, why ever give Jessie a happy end if she broke Takeshi's heart? I personally believe that Takeshi, despite hating his ex enough to make her one of the main villains of the show he was writing for, didn't *truly* hate her. I believe, despite her egotism, her pompous attitude, and her abusive relationship with him, Takeshi hoped that his ex would find happiness in her life. Kinda bitter sweet, if you ask me and if I'm actually correct(probably not, but still). Anyways, great video as always! I didn't know any of these facts, and the hair colors messed with my brain for a minute.
A Dog of Flanders (Een Hond van Vlaanderen in the original language, any Dutchies or Belgians here?) is more famous in Japan than it is in the Netherlands and Belgium where it originated. I actually didn't know about it until I read a Suske en Wiske (I believe it's Spike and Suzy in English, but there are different translations so idk, it's the iconic comic series by Willy Vandersteen) about the story, and the fun part about that is that the Suske en Wiske featured a Japanese girl who was deadly ill and asked to see the story of A Dog of Flanders when it happened, so the professor sent the girl's robot pet with a built-in camera into the past to take pictures of the entire story. It's really cute and fun to see that little nod to Japan's love for the story in the more recent Belgian take on the story.
Jessie either. Her backstory is sad and there are lots of episodes that show she really isn't into it. She also is a lot more chill and even nice in later seasons.
🤔Well that interesting and total new to me. -> the hair colors for Jesse, James, Cassidy and Butch. When you said “gender change”. Hun and Atilla came to mind. Hun the one character I got confused as child not knowing the gender s/he was.
Knew alot of facts here, but there are a lot more out there that I know that weren't mentioned. Like Giovanni's son's origin and how it's related to Jesse's origin story, meowth's reasoning for joining team rocket, Giovanni's history with prof. Oak, the happenings of Jesse and James's Pokemon, TR's realation to team snag-em, etc. I've been researching Pokemon for YEARS and filled with many facts, from odd to morbid, and all in-between.
Ugh.....this is like the 5th video of yours i randomly came across in my recommended feed -_- [hits subscribe button], darn you and your good videos...
I noticed there was no mention of the team rocket grunts that look like Jessie and James in pokemon yellow that appeared in mount moon if I am not mistaken on where they appeared
Nick Story They actually appear three times, mt moon is the first tho... and that fact is too well known... and not all that odd considering that yellow version is based on the anime.
I don't think lil Uzi and his girlfriend were trying to reference Jesse and James, to be honest. Artists always do whatever they want to their hair, whether they dye it a color that resembles the hair a fictional character has... Not many artist actually know current trends that are cartoon shows and/or games.
Knock out Evil Tusks could refer to how team rocket usually has a hand in the downfall of the other evil teams in the anime, as well as in ultra sun/moon, when they basically took over the original evil teams base and captured Lusamine!
Team Raid On the City Knockout Evil Tusks...thank goodness they decided not to go with the acronym anywhere else lol. On a more serious note, these were some interesting facts
Tusk is probably an insult they coined for the corrupt people in the Pokemon League they're always trying to undermine. Like when referring to the Elite 4, some Rocket grunts might say something along the lines of "Those damn Tusks messed up our plans at the Lake of Rage."
Evil tusks could be a reference that the main protagonist could be evil to team rocket. If you think of it team rocket think that they are doing the right thing and the protagonist are doing the wrong thing
And just to throw this out there, there's the way everyone botches Butch's name being a major running gag and how it may possibly become a meme IRL if it hasn't already.
I would like to put out there that the admins of Team Rocket are the only ones who wear white uniforms in the games and manga, and in the anime Jessie and James wear white uniforms, but are shown in the regular grunt uniforms in flash backs, maybe insinuating that they were promoted somehow... do with this information what you want but I think it’s interesting
I am very surprised that you didn't say anything about the Sun and Moon version about James and Jessie. I expected at least one odd fact to be about the Sun and Moon version. If anyone that sees this comment checks out my channel, probably won't find much entertainment for about a month after it was posted. I am working on videos where I just talk. (Kind of like Julian2AJ, Who Quit) But seeing videos like this on assorted topics just make me feel like I can put together unknown history about stuff I like. (like Animal Jam) I am just going to stop this comment before it looks like an essay.
Here's an odd fact Giovanni hasn't fired Jessie and James yet 😂
lol Who would fire such *amazing* workers 😉
Coco Parkinson true they did get him a um uhh 😂
there's a theory going around that he wanted to have them killed but didn't want to do it himself in case it traced back to him, so he just kept them on in hopes that their stupidity would lead to their own demise.
rishabh anand that is an interesting theory but I think the black and white anime debunks that
that makes sense. i never watched the black and white anime. i stopped after diamond and pearl as that was when I reached the age of "growing out" of pokemon.
Thank you, that means a lot!! :D
Jessie James.
HOLY SHIT, I AM JUST NOW REALIZING THAT IT'S JESSIE JAMES AND BUTCH CASSIDY!
Atilla and Hun have gold and silver hair, which were the games that were out during the legend of thunder. Just throwing that out there.
Oh shoot, I didn't even notice!! Nice catch!!
Also, The names are a reference to Attila the Hun. He ruled the Huns from 434 to 453. While many probably noticed this already, I thought it was definitely worth the mention.

Very interesting!!

I'm prepared for Trouble, So let's make it Double! Go Rockets!
First "You've Never Heard Of" video that I actually haven't heard of any of the facts. I'm pretty amazed!
I’m glad you learned something!! 😄
Well I think the tusk part is due to how they try to eliminate competition in other regions or even in Kanto specifically. Interesting idea!
Team Shackle's revenge confirmed in gen 9.
IMO, Team Rocket is the best evil team in Pokémon.
Anoki R. BS, Bo plot, lack of determination. What are they trying to do. They wont get my pokemon. Screw em
People saying great video when the video is online for 3 minutes.
I'm sure this will be a great video
And we talking about Belgium in this video? I'm proud
I like your profile picture
Jarnei with the sass 😂
RUclips needs to timestamp comments like soundcloud does
they have at most seen half the video and that's at double speed
I only one of them, which was the fact about Jessie and James being a part of a biker gang. My fave fact, tho, was James' backstory being based off of a European book!! I think that's really cool. James also happens to be my fave Pokemon character of all time. ^-^ Great video, btw!!

Team rocket hates donphan. Take out evil tusks? Down with donphan.
Um, that’s rude
Fucking yes I love this so much
Who doesn't love the most iconic baddies in Pokemon
Glad you like it! :)
Ash dosent ;-; jk
They got old 900 episodes ago
Christian Minecraft server
I love when you talk about Brazil ❤ And the Rocket's hair thing blew my mind
That rocket hideout remix, still one of my favourites.
Yessssss
Hip hop likes Team Rocket very much. Prepare for trouble, and make it double, is a very common line in songs
Jessie, James and Meowth would have made more money by either running a robotics factory or a mining company than being in Team Rocket.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you!!
I actually didn't know any of these, which I can't say for many Pokemon trivia videos. Good job!
Thank you!!
'Knock out evil tusks...'. Could 'tusks' be an acronym within a acronym?
This uploads right after i finish taking on team rainbow rocket in pokemon ultra sun
Nice!!
The grunts are the evil tusks... the full acronym is raid on the city. knock them out, my evil tusks... as Giovanni said it in lt surge’s flashback... so the evil tusks (grunts) are suppose to raid things and get into fights
This is a great video idea. I wanna see more like this!
I’m so glad you like it! 😊😊
HoopsandHipHop i love odd facts about specific characters from the series.
I wonder how game freak felt when Tekeshi told them he based Jessie of his ex girlfriend in high school
Misty and James's last names were listed to begin with? I didn't know that!
Glad you learned something!
Maybe rocket just really hates elephants? -My commentary on the acronym
Good idea tbh
I knew of the biker gang one. The rest were fresh and new. Nice work my dude
Thank you!! 😊
6:17 A bit of a stretch that James's hair is blueish-purple, yet you don't notice Jessie's hair is pink? I find that odd...
I think James and Wobbefett aren't evil.
Jesse and James are in Pokémon yellow.
They are from the games. You meet Jessie and James in mt. moon.
Oops I lied. That's only for yellow.
On the Pokemon website the rate the in game pkmn yellow rockets, including Jesse and James, surprisingly, they talked pretty much how good of rockets they are and how the others should follow there example.
Great video! Thanks for the upload!

LuckyKoneko I am dutch
Great video man, so many poketubers regurgitate the same facts everyone knows. Way to keep it interesting and new.
Thank you! :D
Please make a list video ranking the evil teams from Pokemon
Not a bad idea!!
Don't know if anyone else would agree, but James and Meowth don't really seem like they are meant to be bad guys.
Jessie either. Her backstory is sad and there are lots of episodes that show she really isn't into it. She also is a lot more chill and even nice in later seasons.
I knew about the "Raid On the City Knock out Evil Tusks" and the Motorcycle gang one.
I didn’t even know butch and cassody exsisted before I watched this.
Love these fact videos keep them coming
Thank you!!
Yeah I didn't know alot of these things. Good video my dude!
Thank you!!
Toon Link's in the background ready to t-pose on these team rocket grunts
I like your contents! please keep it up!
Thank you, I really appreciate it!!
🤔Well that interesting and total new to me. -> the hair colors for Jesse, James, Cassidy and Butch.
When you said “gender change”.
Hun and Atilla came to mind. Hun the one character I got confused as child not knowing the gender s/he was.
The musical artist fact was really mind-blowing.
Glad you liked it!
coincidence i went to school with a guy named james morgan lmao!
Haha nice!!
Do this for every team!
That would be fun!!
Congrats on 67,567 subs!
maayan menashe that's oddly specific 😂
Thank you!!
Very interesting Coy!!
Great video!!
Thank you!!

Team Shackle is related to team Cipher.
Amazing video as always hoops. That’s why you’re the only person that has my patreon!
Thank you, that really means so much!!! ❤️
Good Stuff Hoops!
The transgender fact, and the Mewtwo/Giovanni thing were the most interesting to me.
Thank you! Glad you liked it!!
James Morgan? Morgan is my first name lol
Cool!
Ugh.....this is like the 5th video of yours i randomly came across in my recommended feed -_- [hits subscribe button], darn you and your good videos...
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The whole Rocket acronym is actually "Raid On the Cities! Knock them out, my loyal Evil Tusks!"
And the the heck is Butch? I thought his name was Buzz
oh shoot, Brazil got a spot on a Hoops' video, oh god, im shakin'
😊😊
I noticed there was no mention of the team rocket grunts that look like Jessie and James in pokemon yellow that appeared in mount moon if I am not mistaken on where they appeared

They actually appear three times, mt moon is the first tho... and that fact is too well known... and not all that odd considering that yellow version is based on the anime.
Thanks for the video Hahh! I will always appreciate your content!!
And I will always appreciate YOU!!!
Team Rocket members' hair seem to make better mascots for the games than the Pokemon themselves, huh?
haha truuuuuuu
Why is the music you pick always so good??
I guess I just have good taste in music 🤷♂️
He does all of the remixes that you hear in the background. It’s awesome!
As quoted by James once; “It’s lavender.”
In the manga Jessie and James have a future scene where they're married and having a kid.
I don't think lil Uzi and his girlfriend were trying to reference Jesse and James, to be honest. Artists always do whatever they want to their hair, whether they dye it a color that resembles the hair a fictional character has... Not many artist actually know current trends that are cartoon shows and/or games.
*Drops everything to watch this*
Appreciate you ❤️❤️❤️
You dropped your Soul
Bryan Z and the beat
I watched Pokémon Chronicles, but I never knew that about Hun. Wow.
I like him even more now LOL.
Personally that hair style fact sounds like a bit of a stretch to me, but I see where you're coming from. Learned a lot today. Twas fun.
Jessie and James are anime exclusive no more! Thank goodness for Let's Go!
I like the info given. Heres one I wondered if you knew about. Apparently Jesse or Musashi's mom actually worked for team Rocket when she was younger.
Well, I definitely didn't know that last one.
Glad you learned something!!
James last name is German for morning lol
As a belgian person, I'm surprised anyone used anything from us for inspiration. Usually nobody knows we exist.
I only new one of these so this was a great video
I’m so glad you liked it!!! 😄
I always saw Team Rocket design in Red/Blue/Green as A Cloackwork Orange film gang. Also the way of being is like them
Wow the only one i knew was James's last name.
This video blew my mind
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Knock out Evil Tusks could refer to how team rocket usually has a hand in the downfall of the other evil teams in the anime, as well as in ultra sun/moon, when they basically took over the original evil teams base and captured Lusamine!
The Ultra Beasts are evil and that's why they invaded. Ultra Beasts as well as the Johto evil team (Shackle) are aliens for sakes.
Team Raid On the City Knockout Evil Tusks...thank goodness they decided not to go with the acronym anywhere else lol. On a more serious note, these were some interesting facts
Glad you enjoyed them! :)
Tusk is probably an insult they coined for the corrupt people in the Pokemon League they're always trying to undermine. Like when referring to the Elite 4, some Rocket grunts might say something along the lines of "Those damn Tusks messed up our plans at the Lake of Rage."
coincidence or no coincidence, these observations that you made did make sense. good video.
One weird thing about team rocket... They keep blasting of and never take any fall damage... Why?!
True tho
Raid On City, Knock Out Enemy Trainers makes far more sense.
That’s actually perfect haha
Maybe knock out evil tusk is a acronym of itself
Evil tusks could be a reference that the main protagonist could be evil to team rocket. If you think of it team rocket think that they are doing the right thing and the protagonist are doing the wrong thing
And just to throw this out there, there's the way everyone botches Butch's name being a major running gag and how it may possibly become a meme IRL if it hasn't already.
That last one caught me off guard
I would like to put out there that the admins of Team Rocket are the only ones who wear white uniforms in the games and manga, and in the anime Jessie and James wear white uniforms, but are shown in the regular grunt uniforms in flash backs, maybe insinuating that they were promoted somehow... do with this information what you want but I think it’s interesting
I know this video is old but, an uzi reference?, yea you earned this subscribe bro
Bell stopped working glad I'm not too late. Team rocket is my fave team then rainbow rocket and plasma.
Oh no!! Thank you for being here anyway!!
Thanks for that great video
Thank you for watching! :D
The only one I knew was the Dog of Flanders one. The animated movie is extremely sad btw ;.;
I was sad just reading about it 😢
I am very surprised that you didn't say anything about the Sun and Moon version about James and Jessie.
Elephant tusk are sought out by collectors so maybe it's a play on of that hoopsandhiphop
I learned about the Team Rocket acronym from the Pokémon Adventures manga series!
Nice!
Is it weird that Hun doesn't look like a girl at all to me?
I mean Hun wasn't originally intended to be a girl
Knockout evil tusks? Team rocket must hate Donphan.
All Hail Team Rocket!
