But most of them are negative. The jig is up with most intelligent people, but he will continue to coast with his insufferable stans and his vapid female base.
As I said before, Drake is not a man, He's a brand. Amorphous, adaptable, pragmatic and determined to thrive, even at others' expense. He's the apotheosis of the constantly changing music industry. He is creative enough to gain begrudging respect but not brave enough to edge to far out of his comfort zone for too long. He'll show "love" to the new artists and hang out with them to size them up, so when he collabs with them using their flow or style, he can always say that he's just matching their energy. He does not have enough faith in his own musical identity and must constantly ape whatever style is popping, water it down and suck it for all it's worth and then move on to the next trend. Drake is everything a true artist despises in that regard, and everything a long-lived business seeks to emulate.
A lot of the time he does other people's styles better than they do. He's lyrical prowess is far better than most in the industry. He can rap on trap, hip hop, boom bap, R&B etc. Arguably, he struggles on drill and Afroswing but you can't have it all. No artist has ever had a perfect catalogue of songs.
I'm a big fan of Jack's verse on Churchhill downs, however the whole track was practically catered to drake. In true drake fashion he took the song and made it his own song
Drake is doing what’s best for him. The music business has proven to use artists for their own benefit. It’s not his responsibility to make other artists superstars, that’s the label’s job.
And with most artists going independent due to the mistrust of label contracts, what are we exactly hoping labels do? Lil Wayne co-signed Drake. Dr. Dre and Snoop co-signed Kendrick. Jay-Z co-signed Kanye and J. Cole later on
They call his label "the OVO sweatshop" for a reason, Aubrey hijacks the best material for his projects and even when not he ensures he's on any great song (i.e Partynextdoor ft Drake - Recognize, Rihanna ft Drake - Work originally written and produced solely for RiRi). Drake is a hit machine and he does everything to ensure he stays coming up with hits, he don't care and chose the generic approach to music because it works for him. But he could be doing waaaay more for this artistes, instead he treats them like sh*t under his shoe is they even dare question his approach. Glad Metro Boomin stuck with his vision for "Heroes and Villain" which has been mad successful(2x platinum with lots of records already certified Platinum, 2x platinum and gold). Album got nominated for a grammy and lots of awards, he didn't let Drake's hit hunting derail his musical vision and I loooove Trance ft Travis Scott & Young Thug which is a perfect song and an additional Drake verse would have ruined the musical direction.
That just proves he is a vulture picking at the carcass of a form of music I don't think he really cares about as a whole. Sure he doesn't have any responsibility to bring up the next generation, but if you love the art form you would be looking for a successor so that the art form continues to exist and grow, instead he does the opposite.
These videos have been popping up, and looking back, the writing has been on the wall for a couple of years now. This is a historic moment, and I'm glad everyone documented their thoughts.
Unpacking the 'MJ curse' unveils a profound music industry paradox. MJ's 'Off the Wall' and 'Thriller' were transformative, reigniting the industry but also triggering the homogenization of pop. Now, Drake echoes this narrative, catapulting hip hop commercially but perhaps constraining its artistic evolution. Unlike MJ's pursuit of innovation, Drake seems tethered to a formulaic success. Are we witnessing a cycle of repetition or a genuine progression in music? The industry grapples with the tension between commercial triumph and artistic breakthroughs, and the parallels between these two icons force us to question the very essence of musical legacy.
Drake did not catapult Hop Hop commercially. Nobody buys albums since before and during his whole era. Jay Z sold 140 million records when people had to go to the store and physically buy the album. Streams are meaningless in comparison.
@@jonahIeeyeah, it’s a lot more watered down and basic to appeal to the masses lol. Artistically, Drake from the Take Care & NWTS era are tiers above the current Drake because he’s all about streams and chart success.
This isn’t exclusive to hip-hop; there is no upcoming shining light in acting, tv or movie creation, sports, etc. Hell even politics. And it’s not by accident.
I mean I don't see that as a bad thing. We've gotten to the point where we're not all listening to (and watching) the same people so we're not creating megastars like we used to. There's always gonna be a celebrity/idol culture, and there will be greats that stand apart from the generic ones; the only difference is there are tons more celebrities now than ever before even if they won't get to the same heights as the first ones to do it.
This is a business. Drake gives and takes like he’s supposed to. The public doesn’t like these artist as much as they like Drake. They could support new artist on their own like they support Drake but they don’t. Why is that?
Because of exposure and relatability. When you buy toothpaste, are you more likely to buy colgate? A brand you’ve seen your whole life? Or a brand of toothpaste called Xyeres that’s brand new. That’s what it boils down to. Drake has been around for so long that he has fan from multiple generations.
A lot of the time the upcoming rapper's highest point is a collaboration with Drake. They find it hard to match that height afterwards. It's funny though... Drake will collab with rappers then diss all rappers brutally with bars about him being number one. Some might say it's all rap but he really means what he says.
It is not drakes job to clear the way for these niggas 😂 It ain’t on the reigning champ to relinquish the belt. It’s up to a hungry new challenger to TAKE the belt. But these new rappers can’t do that cuz they focused on tik tok and ‘the trenches’. New rappers are myopic af. They ain’t tryna be megastars or legends they just want their moment. Genuinely don’t think most of em even really care about rapping. Prolly wish they had a RUclips career instead
Yeah, but you had Lil Wayne in the late 2000s, who was the biggest at the time selling a million first week. What I think Rory was getting at was that during that period Lil Wayne took Drake under as his protégé, and Wayne featured him a bunch. As a result Drake's debut album sold like half a million first week 2010. Plus, you had other newer guys in the under ground making noise like J. Cole, odd future, and Kendrick. This time it doesn't really feel like there is anybody that is super new that is that solid. A lot of the newer guys have either died or hit slumps like Jack Harlow, or Roddy Rich. I still have faith in Baby Keem though, I think his next album is going to come out next year and I hope he doesn't hit the slump like his peers. It could be a lull period like you said, but my fear is that is like rock in the late 2000s. It wouldn't be the end of the world as I still listen to new rock and metal artist but I feel like its too early for hip-hop to fall off the mainstream. I wasn't expecting hip-hop to become outdated until like the 2040s.
The theory established in this video is most likely the very reason Drake feels a typa way about Kendrick. He's been doing this move for years with other artistes. He first reached out to Kendrick and took him on tour. However, he never predicted Kendrick would be as big. Kendrick became a threat, and when Control dropped, it shook the game and messed with the attention he expected to get. Hence, his animosity towards Kendrick. He's also envious of the respect KDot gets from the legends of the game. All in all, he couldn't put Kendrick in his shadow if he tried. That's why he hates him. Even his most recent move with JCole is subtly in a bid to put JCole beneath him in the pecking order. He subliminally sonned JCole and JCole fell for it. It's partly why Kendrick hates him. Drake is very sinister, and in Kendrick's words, a master manipulator.
Totally agree with everything said. I don’t even know any of the new rappers these days and I usually keep up with them. I just wait for my fav artists to drop at this point
We'll never see another run like this. He's arguably one of the biggest stars on the planet . Whether it's his own music or the countless great features Drakes has done.
Rory was right on the money @ 1:10 like I've felt like this for a while but at least there's others who see it like me. And it's weird for hip hop sake that's why the numbers going down
Bruh, Drake has literally be in the game for 10+ years. He put out a Dance Album, Trap Album, R&B Album, and a 6 Boom Bap EP in like 18 months people still hated. Drake since the beginning of career utilized his major platform to put on your new artists and pay homage to the OGs through bringing them out on his highest selling tours, featuring them on highest selling albums, and also using old school samples from OG's to have the earn more bread. Wtf is you talking about.
Well if Drake does take a break from music like he said after his tour, someone better step up. The community has spent so much time critiquing Drake they arent this way with other rappers.
Drake is so damn smart and people just don’t get it. You’re looking at a person who can rap and sing jump in any lane Afro-b, regaetton, pop and whatever else is moving and also look like 5 different races at the same time which broadens his reach. He didn’t owe no one anything just because he’s dominating he should not move different because it’s working business wise.
But he's just riding on trends and not pushing some genres like Hip-hop and House music forward. At first he was pushing Hip-hop and other genres forward like from 2009 - 2015 (maybe 2008 - 2018 but I don't think so) but as time went on he started to become more commercial but at the same time immature and at times a narcissist. He had beef with Kanye, Diddy, Pusha, and Meek Mill, made a pretty garage House/Dance album that did not help Dance music at all, and recently in this decade dropped 3 albums that did not satisfy the critics nor the fans (Certified Lover Boy, Honestly Nevermind, For All The Dogs). Her Loss was decent to mixed reviews. You probably don't get what I'm saying but I'm saying that Drake is not helping no one, he's just tarnishing his reputation and legacy.
Yes your right he is not pushing the genre but he has a formula that works or else people would not be questioning his dominance the only thing what made people notice his ways was that he was getting up there in age. Drake is not suppose to be successful in the classical sense of hip hop he pulled off an amazing feat . Now I think he has to just back off and people would calm down he been winning for too long and people are just tired of it.😂
Actually he owes everything to all the artist he aped styles from. I can only assume you're defending Drake because you want to be the same kind of thing: a vulture.
I understand the sentiment when making these but yall forget that X , Juice , Pop Smoke and Von were most likely some sort of the next superstars before they died
I remember Jack Harlow being groomed as the next best thing last year😂😂and then Drake popped outta "nowhere" and outshined him on his own album😂😂😂and the hype died dramatically
arseeoliveira6934 to be fair, the hype died because Jack dropped a MID ass album right when people though he'd be the next drake. That shit was his own fault lol.
@@zayzuessyet he still has a big audience. Drake is doing what makes gim money he doesn't have to talk about "muture" things. What does you even cusider mature?
a rapper bodying their verse on your song is always a good thing and a respectful thing. to lay down proper bars is what everyone is supposed to do and there's nothing nefarious about going hard on your homies track.
I got one thing to say… SO WHAT Drake diversifies his music and shines light on different genres. WHO ELSE DOES THAT?? They all stick to their genres and dont fuck with anybody else. Drake is needed and new artists need to take a page or chapter out of his book.
Is this really a question of a drake curse, or is Drake the only one with a work ethic and desire to continue making music and enjoying the process? Any of these people could have kept going, if they kept making music.
Drake doesn't wanna make music just like Kanye doesn't wanna make music. These are obligations in your contract like when you are at work. It's only when the feedback is so bad and you are questioning their artistic abilities do you get a Kamikaze or a scary hour 3
Agreed, and he is blamed for being the G.O.A.T, he humps in songs with them not take the mic🎙️ from young rappers, and he does the best then called a curse??? MxM
No artist in the history of recorded music has released music on a yearly basis and continued to release it at a high level. Drake just makes 40 and Boi 1Da work overtime to make him beats whilst he waits for the go ahead to record. No artist has ever been able to keep inspired to do that. Not even James Brown was that crazy. Michael Jackson released a project every 4 years. Drake knows people will listen regardless
With many artistes complaining about their collaboration with him, even Burna Boy, something is definitely up. Drake is that "nice guy" you definitely want to avoid.
The argument that Drake is attached himself to young artist to only leave them in the dust. Drake is more talented than most of these young artist regardless of drakes status. Drake is simply more talented than the short term famous artist. A lot of them just aren’t good enough to last. Which is why folks are hatin. Scary hours 3 just proved that, again
What exactly is Drake's special artistic talent that makes him so great, if it's not a secret? Note: marketability, business savvy, and being the industry's golden child are not artistic talents
@@GM53946 good question. Drake actually has bars. He already caught a few bodies when some challenged him. If Drake did nothing else but rap, he’d still be in the discussion for the best of his era Drake also knows how to create melodies that many other artists never really mastered. As a singer vocalist, it is an important skill. Dr Dre knows this and actually taught snoop how to do it when they were making the chronic. So the talent is there. The fact that Drake can do more than one is a strength that many haters try to discredit him for actually being versatile. So if you are claiming that Drake lacks artistic talent, you would be wrong and labeled a hater
@@kwamintaylor4247>Drake actually has bars Delusional take, but let's set that aside. Does he have flow? Not at all. Tbh.. this sounds like some hating ish to me… so drake is supposed to not make a hit and leave room for less talented artists? Lmao why has no one ever told any great artist in history.. that’s the problem with hip hop culture.. we show love then eventually jealousy when it seems like an artists music transcends a genre
If those artists were talented and hard working enough.. on one can stop them from reaching a great level of success You mentioned the weeknd but did drake stop the weeknd from being the most successful artist of our generation NO The other rapper's you mentioned are either mid lazy or have a shady past
You’re ignoring the downsides of him LITERALLY using everything and anyone under the guise of “love” because like the example of The Weeknd? He has never been bigger than changing his style and going complete “pop” style now. The people who listen to his feat. Tracks are looking for the same “pop” style presented on the track because he has railroaded us.
@@dubmarmol8018 but isn't this what all ALIST rappers do diddy jayz Rick rose etc.. Drake is no different atleast he is not moving shady like the once I mentioned he uses those rappers to stay relevant which is a smart business move but he also give them credit and supports them they just ungreatful buz he is still the successful one and not them The weeknd wanted that kind of influence he didn't want to be known as the black R&B Singer he wanted something way bigger.. pop music is natural to him since he is influenced by MJ it has nothing to do with Drake
I agree with a lot of this video. However, Drake does have the power, the consumer does. Simply listen and support the music you like. Period. If an album sells 5000 copies first week, but you love the music, support that album. Who cares what other people have to say about the music you like?
And why have these musicians been doing a colab with Drake, if not to also ride his wave? If Metro could also say no, then so can all the others. This is simply playing the victim, when in reality, they just want the fame that comes with being associated with Drake. What they ignore is Drake is more experienced than them and knows how to ride waves better than they do
I disagree. If Drake or any other big rapper gives you a feature they’re letting the world know who you are in the spotlight is on you now now, after that song goes away, it’s up to the artist to keep the people drake introduced you to interested that has nothing to do with Drake Lil Wayne did the same thing early 2000s late 2000s if he hopped on your son it was a guaranteed smash hit but after that it’s up to you to keep the people listening that’s just like with anything else anybody who successful can give you a hand out a interview whatever you need to get to the top to get the job that you want but if you’re not keeping yourself there after the favor is done that’s your fault and nobody else’s because you didn’t want it bad enough Drake wants it so bad. But he’s willing to do anything. To stay relevant a lot of people don’t have his work ethic. One person I can think of is Lil Wayne
Can’t compare to Wayne . Wayne literally have drake the blueprint under his wing drake just collabs he doesn’t really try to bring the best out of artist
@@KD-wc4rs it’s not his job picture your friends telling you you won the lottery bro and you’re not helping me with my bills you don’t know that person a damn thing just because you won the lottery be for real like I said, if you want something bad enough you’re going to do whatever it takes to stay relevant and to be on top Drake knows how to do that that’s why he’s the best plain and simple if you don’t understand that you’ve never put the work in for anything that you want it so bad even though people told you it’s not gonna work out
The Weeknd imo would be a close second. Especially since he’s going to rebrand himself soon. We don’t know how gamechanging that might be for his overall popularity
That's not fair actually, I think that's the point of the video and also what Drake wants these artists to believe. Because, by giving them 1 hit to feed off of and having them fizzle out. There is no way of knowing whether they could've been an equal competitor and made waaay more money/impact without dude. Sh!t, Sir Mix-a-lot is still making bank off of 'I like big butts'...but you don't wanna be FORCED to live off your drake hit.
What’s crazy is I bet Drake has another strategy for when he would be exposed for his current strategy. I’m not even a Drake fan but I respect his genius and can’t wait to see what comes next 😂
YG moves like that. I remember him saying on a song (that was his second Drake feature) ‘Drizzy came thru with verse for me both times’. He was a satisfied owner using the Drake product as if he were moving inventory in his warehouse. YG smart.
music is an ever changing industry, like a line to ride a rollercoaster, there's a line of people and the ride is everything superstars experience along the way: money, fame, sex, drugs, influence, etc. the thing is, no matter how big you get or how "eternal" you believe you are, nothing is forever, everyone has a time to shine and a time to fade. What Drake is doing is essentially refusing to get off the rollercoaster after his ride has ended, effectively sabotaging everyone else in line waiting for their time to shine - he's too stubborn to admit his time is over, and is hurting the genre in the process. Since his conception, Drake has solely existed to bring hip hop and pop closer together. He's a performer and entertainer, not an artist. Just take a glance at his discography and see how many collabs he has. His work is based mostly on collabs because he's a parasite leeching off other stars that are hot atm to stay relevant. Kdot was right all along, he's not a colleague he's a colonizer and a culture vulture.
I’m not too well versed in hiphop but what’s happening in drake is happening in pop, what’s happening with movie stars. What’s happening in Hollywood in general. Gen z isn’t producing the next big all encompassing stars but smaller niche artists and actors with loyal fanbases. Overall we are in a transition period. Looking outside of hiphop, the two biggest tours this year were by artists who have been in the game for decades. Beyoncé and Taylor Swift like drake are two artists who are too big to fail it seems. I think their approaches are different, but it’s the same. I cannot name a successor to drake, nor can I name one for Beyoncé. Maybe Taylor Swift has Olivia Rodrigo but only time will tell. Back to drake, he’s someone I listened to more of his older songs casually. He seems like so meh now yet he still is so successful. I just feel like he’s missing a lot of artistic direction and drive and integrity and so he makes what gen z would like but it’s like he has nothing to say anymore. Something about his energy makes me pitty. I think his songs do well but lately they don’t have as much longevity so he probably keeps putting out more bc he’s afraid of fading away. Being at the top is addicting. I think for his art and maybe even his mental health too, taking a complete step back for a few years, no singles, no features, maybe attend a few events to remind ppl he exists, but all around just living his life till he can find something to genuinely say without having to piggy back on what’s trending and using new artists would do him favors. Then he can stage a big comeback with a critically acclaimed album and maybe even a commercially successful one too.
Wait, how you frame that Drake/Tory beef like Drake was taking shots 1st?? Everybody already knows that Tory started that...and that was Drake's response. Cmon now.
Without Drake flooding the market hip hop would be dry as hell waiting years for everyone to drop. Drake keeps ears listening and then when people drop people get excited for those people. He’s been the constant for 15 years helping everyone eat
it'll be dry for folks that only listen to radio, tiktok and ig reels music, folks that don't wanna miss out on the hottest topics or something, because if we're being honest, Drake himself ain't doing nothing new or interesting lately. Why listen to the worst Playboi Carti, Lil Yacthy, The Weeknd, Partynextdoor, Uk rappers, Yeat and Bad Bunny's (to name a few) worst impersonations from Drake when I can go listen to each one of them? Then Praise or await anxiously for his music and trash or ignore the others (that he's ironically mimicking). That has to do with consuming what you're familiar with or attached. Me for example I gave up on his.music after CLB after noticing a pattern and Iknow damn well I'm not missing out a single thing, and with the internet, I have a variety on Innovators on my playlist. The only mainstream rap artists that are worth waiting for their craft are Tyler, Travis, Kendrick, Cole, Baby Keem or even Doja, giving that they standout from the bunch when it comes.to their artistic approach, the rest (with Drake included) are a bunch of bankrupt gimmicks that are stale, wave riders that don't push the genre forward, matter of fact, they only stunt the genre's growth since they're the majority now
Y’all are literally hating on Drake because he sounds good doing any type of genre/flow ??? If he sounded the same every album y’all would complain there’s no progression or range in his music smh 🤦🏾♀️
Ohhh, the irony of Earl saying that about Drake the same year he felt the need to publicly disrespect Eminem…the guy who literally was doing the opposite of what he accused Drake of doing
Drake is taking advantage of the lack of competition in the rap game. He gets all buddy buddy with the youngsters and they now feel like they don't need to compete and destroy him. Brilliant strategy, wins the war without even fighting.

The reason Drake doesn't fall off is because his fan base is wide and deep. He is the McDonalds of rap. He is omnipresent. This reflects the audience more than the artist. He is ingrained in peoples behaviour. If people want Drake to go away they should stop listening to his music. Its is a easy as that.
This is the effect of thinking too mainstream. I don't really care about Billboard spots when it comes to Hip-Hop/Rap. Leave that for the Pop genre. There are artists that are making an impact to round out the genre despite Drake being the top artist in the genre. Drake isn't the only one making a difference in the space.
You can't make a difference without the platform to reach millions of people. Whatever your idea is, it will be have to be synthesized by a mainstream artist for public consumption. Most times, underground artists are too eclectic and experimental for the general public. They're jarring to listen to because their sound is so unpolished and lacking structure. That's why people gravitate towards the mainstream
@@saintkevinofficial There's a reason why many of the pioneers of Hip-Hop are still remembered pleasantly for their contributions. You can see Drake derived from that. A lot of purely mainstream acts easily come and go and are hardly remembered. You don't get vastly remembered if you just do music cookie cutter and repeat the sludge fans get burned out from.
@@STEDEL82 Kendrick and J. Cole are mainstream yet have delivered the most groundbreaking rap albums in history of the genre. All the OGs respect Kendrick and J. Cole for a reason. Being mainstream didn't mean conforming like Ice Spice or Latto. The cookie cutter mainstream approach is relatively new, especially in rap music. It's had a cookie cutter element to it especially since the days of Flo Rida and Macklemore which then translated to the SoundCloud era.
Why is NOBODY asking the question "has Drake made a good enough blueprint for the next gen to work, or has he just ridden the wave of others and left no guidelines for those that come into the game after him?"
Drake does the “if you can’t beat em join em” thing meaning if he see them as a threat he teams up with at least when it comes 2 the newer artists. It’s kinda like triple h in evolution lol keeping the threats like Randy n Batista next 2 him so he wouldn’t have any major threats really drake is just smart 🤷🏾♂️
I have to say, there are people that have to release music constantly to stay relevant and those that can leave the game for 5+ years like Kendrick and still stay in everyone's minds. Drake has to constantly release new music to stay relevant. Drake hasn't been great for years and I feel like he would get more respect if he took some time off like the newer legends. He is like Eminem, peaked too early but could make a big comeback later on.
Drake always reminds me of that Taylor Swift era where she’s always talking about her squad. She was also a country music culture vulture. I think they have a lot of very deep running similarities.
The thing is none of these artists needed Drake to make a hit. Because Drake would’ve never hopped on the song if it wasn’t a hit already. It’s so wild how the tables have turned. I think at some point a Drake feature will soon be avoided by artists to preserve their own career
The machine found a reliable and SAFE cash cow in Drake, they will never let that entity fail until the fans themselves have just completely moved on. It’s kind of like Call Of Duty. Yes, annual releases are destroying the quality and the luster of the genre, but, as long as COD makes Billions every time it drops…. They not going to stop. And in the same way that COD, Assassins Creed, and F2P poisoned the well of videogames… Social media killed the superstar.
He worked hard for what he has and still works hard to get more, why should he do things to favor others what are those other artists doing to favor him? The world is unfair and we are all selfish, you win or you lose such is life? You want to avoid Drake's influence then become better than him and be loved by more people than him, break records like him or more like him, and let people give you the respect you deserve.
Funny you say that as if Drake wasn't helped and co-signed by many artists when he was coming up. Lil Wayne, Birdman, DJ Khaled, Trey Songz and so on. Don't do that. Of course people should expect him to put others on just as they put him on. He barely cares about his own artists on his own label either. It's pathetic.
@saintkevinofficial Is that not what he does to these artists then by their own mediocrity they fail to surpass him like he surpassed all the people who helped him?
and how do you say he barely cares about his artists when he promotes them and includes them on his projects more than any of the people you claim helped him did for him. Have you ever checked drakes story when any of his artists like PND, NAOMI AND ROY WOODS when they are about to drop?

He'll show "love" to the new artists and hang out with them to size them up, so when he collabs with them using their flow or style, he can always say that he's just matching their energy. He does not have enough faith in his own musical identity and must constantly ape whatever style is popping, water it down and suck it for all it's worth and then move on to the next trend.
Drake is everything a true artist despises in that regard, and everything a long-lived business seeks to emulate.
Perfectly put
Exactly. This was the most eloquent way to sum it all up
Well fucking said

A lot of the time he does other people's styles better than they do. He's lyrical prowess is far better than most in the industry. He can rap on trap, hip hop, boom bap, R&B etc. Arguably, he struggles on drill and Afroswing but you can't have it all. No artist has ever had a perfect catalogue of songs.

I'm a big fan of Jack's verse on Churchhill downs, however the whole track was practically catered to drake. In true drake fashion he took the song and made it his own song
According to Jack, as a fan of drake, that's his favorite kinda drake, and he wanted to do that type of song with him.
@@TheAngryMoose i mean Jack ain't bad at that style either .
Don't need a track to be catered towards Drake for him to takeover. That has been his ability since the biggening.
@TheAngryMoose jack was definitely the best person to have a song with drake like that
@@ninadganore what are some other jack songs that are like it?
Drake is doing what’s best for him. The music business has proven to use artists for their own benefit. It’s not his responsibility to make other artists superstars, that’s the label’s job.
And with most artists going independent due to the mistrust of label contracts, what are we exactly hoping labels do? Lil Wayne co-signed Drake. Dr. Dre and Snoop co-signed Kendrick. Jay-Z co-signed Kanye and J. Cole later on
You would have a point if he didn't own his own label and have his own artist such as PartyNextDoor who his constantly stealing music from.
Exactly these drake haters got new excuses every year 😂
These videos have been popping up, and looking back, the writing has been on the wall for a couple of years now.

He didn’t owe no one anything just because he’s dominating he should not move different because it’s working business wise.
You can only think like this if you have surface level approach to reality.🎉
Yes your right he is not pushing the genre but he has a formula that works or else people would not be questioning his dominance the only thing what made people notice his ways was that he was getting up there in age. music is an ever changing industry, like a line to ride a rollercoaster, there's a line of people and the ride is everything superstars experience along the way: money, fame, sex, drugs, influence, etc.
the thing is, no matter how big you get or how "eternal" you believe you are, nothing is forever, everyone has a time to shine and a time to fade.

The only mainstream rap artists that are worth waiting for their craft are Tyler, Travis, Kendrick, Cole, Baby Keem or even Doja, giving that they standout from the bunch when it comes.to their artistic approach, the rest (with Drake included) are a bunch of bankrupt gimmicks that are stale, wave riders that don't push the genre forward, matter of fact, they only stunt the genre's growth since they're the majority now
That’s simply not true😅
its true.@@marcbarnes1065
Drake a scam
@@marcbarnes1065 it is true. Look at where we are now. No kendrick no Kanye no anyone other than new artists who no one is giving chances to.
😂
This isn't ironic, there's no correlation at all
Drake is taking advantage of the lack of competition in the rap game. He gets all buddy buddy with the youngsters and they now feel like they don't need to compete and destroy him. Brilliant strategy, wins the war without even fighting.
Drake fell off quality wise after 2015
Drake's 'Friendship' to other friends gives off [Johnny Cage] Mortal Kombat vibes....
J HOOS and willy killed me😂😂😂😂😂
If Wayne can fall off, so can Drake. I swear I thought Wayne was gonna go FOREVER as crazy as it sounds
Wayne was different he passed the ball to Drake his protege then he “fell off”. But only in the sense that Jay also “fell off” & 50, etc.
Your insane if you think Wayne fell off
@@ollyjhb3872 I kinda agree with you. I think Wayne dealing with the Birdman and thugga shit took him out the game. Music wasn’t coming, he was tryna get his money and masters, and the seizures dealt Wayne career huge blow
@@meech6848 yeah to me Carter 3 was the peak and the last of Wayne that we really knew was Carter 4 (I could see some argument for 5) but to me there was no fall off his time was just up. Just like when Kanye and 50 were going at it and Kanye beat him. It wasn’t because 50 was trash, his time was up. It’s why Drake’s run is so insane to think about
@@ollyjhb3872 i agree
Every promising rising superstar was either shot or overdosed
The reason Drake doesn't fall off is because his fan base is wide and deep. He is the McDonalds of rap. He is omnipresent. This reflects the audience more than the artist. He is ingrained in peoples behaviour. If people want Drake to go away they should stop listening to his music. Its is a easy as that.
To add on to your statement, Drake has a loyal fanbase.
@saintkevinofficial Ppl can’t complain the mainstream is too safe and then also complain the underground is too weird lmao
@@saintkevinofficialyou can't be serious nobody says that about Cole and Kendrick. Do you know how many rap albums are better than theirs 😅
the way you pronounced JHus has me crying
Why is NOBODY asking the question "has Drake made a good enough blueprint for the next gen to work, or has he just ridden the wave of others and left no guidelines for those that come into the game after him?"
the guideline is " keep getting on the new wave."
Drake already did that with Take care and NWTS
Drake studied the game. He did the work. All anyone has to do is study Hov and Wayne just like Drake did.
Gotta get the journalism right Take Care didn’t take songs from House of Balloons it was a combination of Thursday throwaways and echoes of silence
This is a great analysis
I would love to see a Shady Records curse vid
💡
As a drake fan since I’ve been in the 3rd grade this video is very truthful
Same here
It's not tho, Drake can't handle you your whole career. Once he put the spotlight on you, it's up to you to do the hard work and keep up
@@KG-tt3nl you do make a point Travis Scott is an example
@@kenleypierre3284 exactly
What race is drake, everything.
They all needed him. And they will all fall off without him like they been doing. Most people don’t really like them niggas forreal.
lol. What an excuse.
@@ShaneCMfax
The machine found a reliable and SAFE cash cow in Drake, they will never let that entity fail until the fans themselves have just completely moved on. It’s kind of like Call Of Duty. Yes, annual releases are destroying the quality and the luster of the genre, but, as long as COD makes Billions every time it drops…. They not going to stop. And in the same way that COD, Assassins Creed, and F2P poisoned the well of videogames… Social media killed the superstar.
Nobody forcing y'all to listen to drake
@@libertyhuchubranding6876 PartyNextDoor gets preferential treatment because he writes a lot of Drake's R&B cuts. He barely posts anything about Majid Jordan and DVSN, despite the fact that their music is arguably better than his has been for the past 5-6 years. The guy is a leech. Face it. He'll never collaborate with Yeat again because he got what he wanted. On to the next. He got what he wanted for Majid Jordan who wrote one of his biggest hits. Now on to the next rising star.
@@saintkevinofficial it's always the idiots that think they know drake personally, if pnd was any good his music would be popping like drake music
I see you're definitely gonna rack up off of the Drake discourse loool
Juice WRLD could've been the next Drake. He was very versatile. Pop Smoke was the next 50 cent in my opinion. Those two losses were really tragic for the genre. Also I love Drake. I make fun of him online but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate him I just think the jokes are funny
No. Juice Wrld would have been juice Wrld. He was a better rapper than drake and music was just better overall.
@wherezmemallet4879 Ehhh
X would have been the next big star in my opinion and I didn’t really like him like that
It’s easy to say an artist would’ve been the next big superstar after they have passed because all we have left is them in their prime. Countless artists in the past 5 years have been touted as the next big thing and then fallen off. Truth is we really have no clue.
People think thought Post Malone, Roddy Ricch, XXXTENTACION, etc would've been the next big thing too
