To everyone who is flipping out about the special effects: They most likely have not finished working with the CGI, there is still more than half a year to go until the movie comes out. For example, the effects for Gollum in LOTR weren't finished until a few weeks before Two Towers came out. Also, look at GLs mask at about 0:12 and then again at around 0:28; they're very different, so maybe they're still working out some designs.
Just remember this is no where near completed, It's just the basic designs. They have 8 months to have the right color balance and textures. I am a Green Lantern fan and don't feel like I will be disappointed.
One more thing, as a Green Lantern fan, my biggest pet peeve about this movie coming out is when people say "isn't GL black?" Yes, ONE of the Green Lanterns is black, and that character will be making a cameo in this movie, to be played by Nick Jones (go look it up on imdb.com). And if all you've ever seen of the Green Lantern (and perhaps DC comics) is the Justice League cartoon series, don't ask questions.
Just saw more footage on Entertainment Tonight, finally saw Sinestro, as well as Tomar Re. Hopefully someone uploads it soon so I can watch it a few hundred times.

I'll wait and see the actual trailer, but some of this shakes my confidence in the film. It looks like a throwback to 90's DC films... the world looks like a soundstage and the acting (although admittedly we only see the barest snippet of it) looks to be sitcom styled.
Even though work on the film isn't finished yet, considering the quality of some of the cg shots, i can safely say this will completely eat up Thor and Captain America, as far as superhero films go.

There they used John Stewart (a black green lantern) instead of Hal Jordan (the first human to join the green lantern corps) for adding ethnic variety. They used Hawkgirl instead of Aquaman (as they should have done) as well for having another heroine in the team

Let me just put on my nerd hat and clear this all up. The Green Lantern Corps are an intergalactic organisation, like a space police force. This is why there have been several humans known as Green Lantern, because at one time or another they have represented earth in the Corps. The Lantern here is Hal Jordan, he was succeeded by Guy Gardener, he was succeeded by John Stewart, the black Green lantern many know from the JLA cartoon series. There are others, but they're the most well known.

I think fans are really going to dig this. Cambell is an exceptional director with lots of merits, Casino Royale remember guys? I don't think he can really mess this up. The story might be a hit and miss, but in terms of action and directing, I am sure he'll deliver. And you can tell the shots aren't all quite done, But they'll probably have some juicy stuff for the trailer. Remember even Thor wasn't done shooting some segments when they released the footage. So calm down and just wait.

@lahij Hunh? How can it be fake? this is an actual video preview off the movie, some genuine concerns over the visual effects are what people are going off the rails about, but I hope it's only a 'raw' form and the clean up and enhancements will be done by the time of it's theatrical debut.

This movie is historic, if think about it, this is the first DC (A-list) superhero movie thats not Batman nor Superman. Opposite from Marvel, where every single superhero has had a movie (even Punisher!!), that´s the real "charm" for this movie

They're showing a lot of things that appear to happen early in the film. For any comic book fans "concerned", Geoff Johns has been HEAVILY involved in the production of the film, and everything had to meet his approval. Since he's been writing Green Lantern for 6 years, and it's one of DC's biggest properties because of him, everything should be fine.

I was reserved on the costume being CGI, but I believe they pulled it off. I have custom made Green Lantern Rings that actually light up, AWESOME!
They are still polishing and editing this film for those complaining about CG effects

John Stewart is the third of the Corps, the ring was given to him by Hal Jordan when he sacrificed himself for the earth reviving the sun.
