Honoring Solomon Kaihewalu

We honor one of the great pioneers in history, Olohe Solomon Kaihewalu. A wonderful man, he was responsible for bringing the secret art of Lua to America. Inducted into the Martial Arts History Museum's Hall of Fame in 2007, it was Solomon that made such a huge impact on Western civilization, his influence can be felt around the world. We honor this great pioneer and this short video is something we had shown at his "special day" at the Museum. Please enjoy and share.

I môhala no ka lehua i ke ke'eke`ehi `ia e ka ua.
Lehua blossoms unfold because the rain nourished them gently and completely.
It is the blessing of the rain that brings forth the lehua blossoms.
So too the gentle words and teaching of our wise Kupuna bring forth much that will live on as their legacy.
People, young and old, respond better to gentle words and teaching shared with Aloha.
This is how I remember ‘Ōlohe Solomon Kaihewalu. His nature was all about sharing of his art and of himself.
