The whole shanti being trapped in the fire during a shoot and srk junping in to save her scene is actually inspired by a real life event which accured during the filming of the iconic 'Mother India' when Nargis ji was supposed to be stuck in a fire like that but the situation got out of hand and she was genuinely put in a dangerous situation that's when Sunil Dutt ji her co star risked his life and jumped in the fire to save her just like srk does here which made Nargis ji fall in love with him and they got married in real life. Om Shanti Om is a complete satire on everything that happens in Hindi Cinema. Almost every scene has a reference to a popular movie that was either in the past, contemporary, or came in later to the timeline of the story.
Right from classic plots like Rebirth - Revenge by Spirits (Madhumati), some latent memories from the last birth (Karz), fire in the haystacks with the actress trapped (Mother India), or even things like Award function Nominations, the legendary "We are just good friends"...
BTW, the No Sorry No Thank You was a catchphrase that caught wind with Maine Pyar Kia (1989) - a massive and the first hit of Salman Khan.

Srk jumping into the fire to save Deepika is actually a real life reference. Sanjay dutt 's dad and mom (who were single at that time) were shooting for this movie called Mother India. There was supposed to be a fire scene but the fire unfortunately went out of control and Sanjay dutt's dad jumped into the fire to save Nargis (Sanjay dutt 's mom). They got hospitalized together and eventually fell in love.

I really think SRK is the greatest actor that India has ever produced because I belong to South Indian and I don't know a word in hindi during my childhood days but SRK has a magic that even kids can understand his emotions without knowing the language and TBH I saw other actors in the same age but neither I could understand the Hindi nor their acting. But because of SRK I started to understand Hindi now even after becoming a grown up and an avid Bollywood film lover. I still think there is no one who can act like him. In veer-zara as an old man the way he shivered his hands and the voice he changed to a weak old man's voice is flawless. In Om Shanti Om the difference he brought to 2 characters like a humble loving sensitive Om the aspiring actor, and cool stylish easy-breezy and little impatient Om the superstar is so amazing. Even though I didn't like Devdas for one reason as he keeps saying Chandramukhi "mai yahape aata hoon ki thume bardash karsako" many-a-times than the original but his performance was spectacular. I also think he is a versatile actor he did out and out comedy in Chennai Express and villain in Baazigar and Autistic in My Name Is Khan as a serious and strict coach in Chak de India and psychologist in dear zindagi and army officer in Mai hoon na, nasa engineering in swades he is not just great only as Romantic actor I think few PPL try to take away stardom and good name from him as an incredible actor.

That 'No Sorry No Thank You' scene at 14:05 was actually a tribute to Maine Pyar Kiya, Salman Khan's debut movie in 1989. This scene is staged here like Hollywood movie 'Back To The Future' Johhny B Goode scene, where it was shown in a funny way that Chuck Berry got the idea of that song from Marty McFly.
Here, the guy outside taking note is shown as Sooraj Barjatya (the original director of Maine Pyar Kiya), showing in a funny way that Sooraj actually took this iconic line from Om Prakash.

What a fun movie to watch! Achara and Gordon, at 8.30 min in the clip, you see Sunil Dutt, Sanjay Dutt's father. They used an old clip of him from a performance and made it work with "Shantipriya's" clip. The three male leads in that song are all superstars from 60s-70s period.
The Shantipriya in fire scene is a call back to real life incident when Sanjay Dutt's mother, Nargis, was caught in a fire during a shoot and his father Sunil Dutt had jumped in to save her, which ultimately started their personal story. The "No sorry No thank you scene" is a classic from DDLJ, directed by Sooraj Badjatya, and here they used that line very well indeed.

Fun or let's say shivering fact 😅 :
In the scene where Shahrukh is in the red coat on premiere night he meets a reporter named Vimi and he says "Vimi... You look lovely tonight".
In real there actually was an actress whose name was Vimi in the 60s. Her movies are Humraaz with Sunil dutt and etc. She became very much popular in her debut and some movies afterwards. But somehow her later movies were flop after flop so her career went almost to scrap.
And suddenly news came that Vimi has died. Reports say that her husband used to emotionally and mentally torture her and physically abuse her. Due to this she became extremely alcoholic and died.
Now Om Shanti Om was released in 2007. And the murder scene in the movie where Shanti is killed by her husband is set 30 yrs back. That would be 2007-30 = 1977...
And guess what year did Vimi died ......
    *22 August 1977*
    😨
