The whole shanti being trapped in the fire during a shoot and srk junping in to save her scene is actually inspired by a real life event which accured during the filming of the iconic 'Mother India' when Nargis ji was supposed to be stuck in a fire like that but the situation got out of hand and she was genuinely put in a dangerous situation that's when Sunil Dutt ji her co star risked his life and jumped in the fire to save her just like srk does here which made Nargis ji fall in love with him and they got married in real life. (their son is Sanjay Dutt)
Omgg ! I didnt know that !!
They even used the same name Sarjoo. Sunil ji played Sarjoo, Nargis ji's son. After going through heart breaks, she found gem of a person to marry ❤
@@sargampareek2774 it was "Birjoo" not "sarjoo", right??
@namasteyssc Yes, it was Birju 🙈
Wow I didn't know that
Om Shanti Om is a complete satire on everything that happens in Hindi Cinema. Almost every scene has a reference to a popular movie that was either in the past, contemporary, or came in later to the timeline of the story.
Right from classic plots like Rebirth - Revenge by Spirits (Madhumati), some latent memories from the last birth (Karz), fire in the haystacks with the actress trapped (Mother India), or even things like Award function Nominations, the legendary "We are just good friends"...
BTW, the No Sorry No Thank You was a catchphrase that caught wind with Maine Pyar Kia (1989) - a massive and the first hit of Salman Khan.
@@rajattyagi8963wow what a way to discredit them.. So much hate😂
@@rajattyagi8963You just don't understand good writing lmao cuz you're too lost in the unnecessary binds of definition.
Satire is an appropriate term for this movie. Touch grass
@@rajattyagi8963bro how is this unintentional? they intentionally used the tropes and scenes from other movies as a parody.
@@rajattyagi8963 then give me a logic behind your statement.. it was a partly a spoof made by the makers on the bollywood.. In such a case, make the scenes melodramatic is justifiable... This is like calling KGF remake of yester years films just because it has the angry young man story with mother sentiment...
@@rajattyagi8963 , no hard feelings my friend, but satire is after all humour and exaggeration used on what people are. Just think at peace on a few things I shall mention below from the film - don't reply in a haste.
"Yeh side se Satyajit Ray, yeh side se Bimal Roy... Ek side se Manmohan Desai bhi lagana; aaj kal wohi chal raha hai..."
"Makhija naam nahi chalega...."
Actors who are always late on set and one-take only behaviours, Actors with their Moms on-set...
This was Deepika's bollywood debut film and she did amazing job! They both look amazing!
Yea soo much make however reality is often disappointing
Yea both Deepika and Shreyas ❤️
@@halocraze9839gay
It wasn't people think it Is even, I thought for several years, It's her 2 nd movie something! Not the debut!
Deepika debut film in bollywood not her original debut
The “in friendship there’s no sorry no thank you” is from Salman’s debut movie Maine Pyaar Kiya and it’s indeed a famous line from a famous movie. That movie turned Salman into a superstar overnight.
The bald guy who wrote the line was Sooraj Barjatya who's the director of "Maine Pyaar Kiya"
@@anishjoshi6605 Oh, I didn’t know that
It's not Salman's debut film ..his debut film was Biwi Ho Toh Aisi...Maine Pyar Kiya was his breakthrough film for which he received his career's first Filmfare nomination.

Srk jumping into the fire to save Deepika is actually a real life reference. Sanjay dutt 's dad and mom (who were single at that time) were shooting for this movie called Mother India. There was supposed to be a fire scene but the fire unfortunately went out of control and Sanjay dutt's dad jumped into the fire to save Nargis (Sanjay dutt 's mom). They got hospitalized together and eventually fell in love.
Wow , i didn't know that
even i didn't know that 😂
But he had to take permission of a Criminal who was the Don of Mumbai that time to marry Nargis cuz she was from the different faith.
14:05 thats a reference from salman khan and bhagya shree movie "Maine Pyar kiya (1989)".
Its this movie which made salman khan an overnight star and the dialogue "in friendship there's no sorry and no thank you" Became a hit amongst the youth of that time. The guy outside who was taking notes "Sooraj" Was a reference to the director of the movie sooraj barjatya.
20:00 I love that we can clearly see how men and women think differently. Achara noted that “no clear communication of love or commitment was made” and Andrew thought “But she gave all the signals. That’s got to be affirmation of love and commitment”. We this so much in the real world too 😂😂😅
Nobody is talking about how good the background score is, infact this movie had great songs coupled with some bone chilling background scores. One of the reasons why this film works out so well. The strings and the orchestra melts by heart everytime
I just noticed while watching this with you guys that their movie "happy new year" has a reference of this scene in it when shanti eavesdropped om saying all those things. I didn't realise it until now and it's been a long time since HNY was released.
time stamp pleasse
That's true but that is SRK's thing... It stuck with him since Kuch Kuch Hota Hain..
One of the best movie of shah rukh khan, deepika padukone and villian role nicely done by arjun rampal 💆🏻♀️💕 with great story and brilliant direction.
If I had to choose One movie to watch my whole life This would be it OM SHANTI OM. 😭😭 I love this movie so much. I want them to re release it in theatres. I would love to watch it with my kids😭😭😭
Frrr
Frrr
Frrr
Same for me
This is why youth need jobs. Btw prabhas is better than SRK.
18:46 A genius move on the part of the editor, inserting a meme in the Watchalong of the movie. This is anyways a cut-down version of the movie watchalong, so inserting memes should be the norm here.
20:48 "Once the movie is done, he'll be like, 'I'm calling off the engagement'". Oh boy Achara, you are in for a surprise.
BTW, kudos to the person who decided that this will be your next watch-along. This was the time when Farah Khan actually made great movies. After this movie, her directed projects started going downhill, with negative critical acclaim for her next projects.
You're rich 🤑🤑🤑
Or alone 😔
Farah Khan >>>> Sajid Khan
I absolutely love how smart Achara is and how she gets all references
this movie had the best songs at that time. this and sawariya came at the same time both had very high expectations. deepika made her debut here and ranbir and sonam kapoor made their debut in sawariya. both of them were great movies for the time but this just became super hit
In friendship no sorry no thanks..this dialog is from the Salman Khan movie"Maine pyar Kiya".. iconic dialog
At one point Andrew says "This really took a turn I wasn't expecting" and I was oh boy, just wait for the second half 😂😂😂
This movie is so good and pure. All the comedy and emotional scenes and references to movies from that era. It was all so well done.
Love watching it over and over again.
And yes, the opening scene is a direct cut from an actual song from the movie Karz which is referred in the movie too. And the plot of the movie is also loosely based on it.
Damn. Achara has great knowledge. She's understanding almost all references here!
LoL, I am watching this movie after so many years & it's hilarious. I was a teenager when this movie came out. After watching it now, I am getting so many new references.😂 For example if you see that guy in black jacket after that dhoom tana song, he's supposed to be Dharmendra because of the way he's dancing.😂 Also Manoj Kumar having his hand on his face in his driving licence photo too made laugh like crazy.😂
10:49 Arjun Rampal as Mukesh or Mike (everyone in Hollywood does) was well written.
This movie has the most re-watch value ever !
Om Shanti Om may not be the best movie but it is a part of our generation's collective memory. Everyone remembers what was happening in their life in those few months when this movie was running in the theaters
I AM SO SOOO HAPPYYY you guys decided to watch this movie!!!! OMG 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️
I really think SRK is the greatest actor that India has ever produced because I belong to South Indian and I don't know a word in hindi during my childhood days but SRK has a magic that even kids can understand his emotions without knowing the language and TBH I saw other actors in the same age but neither I could understand the Hindi nor their acting. But because of SRK I started to understand Hindi now even after becoming a grown up and an avid Bollywood film lover. I still think there is no one who can act like him. In veer-zara as an old man the way he shivered his hands and the voice he changed to a weak old man's voice is flawless. In Om Shanti Om the difference he brought to 2 characters like a humble loving sensitive Om the aspiring actor, and cool stylish easy-breezy and little impatient Om the superstar is so amazing. Even though I didn't like Devdas for one reason as he keeps saying Chandramukhi "mai yahape aata hoon ki thume bardash karsako" many-a-times than the original but his performance was spectacular. I also think he is a versatile actor he did out and out comedy in Chennai Express and villain in Baazigar and Autistic in My Name Is Khan as a serious and strict coach in Chak de India and psychologist in dear zindagi and army officer in Mai hoon na, nasa engineering in swades he is not just great only as Romantic actor I think few PPL try to take away stardom and good name from him as an incredible actor.
Andrew is so innocent, when he said "but I thought she liked him" 🥺 He's in for a ride with this movie!
Also, I think soon Andrew can watch older classics (60s, 70s...), he's eager to learn more and his commentary is always interesting 😊
The costumes in this movie are just so iconic.
And the muuuusic!
At 12:26, but the vfx in this movie was soo good. Literally flawless. Such flawless vfx so many years ago is really so commendable.
13:56 - That dialogue is from 1989 movie of Salman Khan and Bhagyashree named 'Maine Pyaar Kiya", it was the first movie of Salman Khan as lead and the movie was Blockbuster and the dialogues of the movie were very popular, The person named Sooraj is reference to the Director of that movie 'Sooraj Barjatiya' who later made many blockbusters with Salman Khan. The hat which he is wearing is also a reference as same 'Friend' hat was worn by Salman Khan in the movie.
The storyline is one thing but the each and every song hits in the right place. Love every bit of it.❤
The starting song of the movie is taken from movie ‘KARZ’ which was ver popular hindi movie of Rishi Kapoor then and the storyline of OM SHANTI OM is also in many ways adapted from that film. You should watch that movie too
That dialogue of no sorry no thankyou is referred to salman khan's first blockbuster movie Maine pyar kia.. it was a popular line in it.. and that name sooraj is referred to its director Suraj barjatya, who even directed two more beautiful hit movies with salman ie Hum aoke hao kaun and hum sath sath hai.. must watch them too ..❤❤❤
That 'No Sorry No Thank You' scene at 14:05 was actually a tribute to Maine Pyar Kiya, Salman Khan's debut movie in 1989. This scene is staged here like Hollywood movie 'Back To The Future' Johhny B Goode scene, where it was shown in a funny way that Chuck Berry got the idea of that song from Marty McFly.
Here, the guy outside taking note is shown as Sooraj Barjatya (the original director of Maine Pyar Kiya), showing in a funny way that Sooraj actually took this iconic line from Om Prakash.
Nobody is as intelligent as Achara compared to other reactors as she quickly gets all the references and Easter eggs. 😅❤😊
This scene was inspired from sanjy Dutt's fathers real incident Sunil dutt saved Nargis sanjus mother from fire in the film mother India ,he was playing his son in that movie, after that they married
The fire scene actually happened in the past. It was Sunil Dutt father of Sanjay Dutt jumped into fire which igited on a set to save Nargis. They fell in love and got married.
This is the most Bollywood any Bollywood movie can ever get!
Definitely one of my favourite movies in the recent past
I have watched lots of Bollywood movies since I was child but now watching with u again those movies I enjoyed most .....love u acharakirk ❤ love from India
3:13 the lady to SRK’s left us Farah Khan, she’s made Om Shanti Om
Deepika had the best debut anyone can ever dream of❤
Ahh, the OG SRK-DP collab... where it all began. ICONIC !
This whole film is a big call back to Hindi cinema. Many scenes in films are inspired by either old Hindi movies or stuff that actually happened with Bollywood actors. The film was like a tribute to Bollywood.
15:09 The plot of Shanti and Mukesh really threw me off the first time too 😂 Also amazing incorporation of the meme 😂
Dosti mein no sorry no thank you is a line from the all-time blockbuster Maine Pyaar Kiya with Salman Khan.
7:50 damn! That damn smile when a whole generation fell in love with her.
It was the second movie that I watched in the movie theater, the first movie was of SRK as well ( Chak De India) . This movie has a special place in my heart.
Even in my last moments I would love to watch Om Shanti Om. ❤ ohhhhhh SRK I love you soo much maaannnnnn......... I was, I am and I always be a die hard SRKian❤
This movie is my favorite Hindi movie. Literally perfect I remember I watched it for the first time when I was 5 and I was mesmerized.
Arjun Rampal played the lead antagonist here , he is one the most handsome model and actor here ❤️🔥✨. His skills and acting is most underrated may be cause he didn't got such projects to prove .
This was srk his 2nd best romance movie after ddlj so big also because of the song where a lot of actors came together of bollywood what never happend before in a movie
its funny how you are predicting what will happen but omg movie takes a whole another turn next life and stuff😂😂
What happened to shanthi in movie is what happened to Gia Khan in real life.. This is exact Bollywood life irl they are portraying.
14:53 million dollar reaction from Achara ❤
What an edit in between for andrew😂😂😂 wah kya acting kar rha hai.......oh man, i laughed for some eternity 😂😂
Whenever we talk about our childhood or about any classic Indian movie then we mean this movie Om Shanti OM the time when Bollywood really makes very good masala movies
14:01 that is from the movie " Maine Pyaar Kiya ". Salman Khan's Debut Movie 1989, Directed by Suraj Barjatya as well as His Directorial Debut. That guy with a Black Peaky Cap (FRIEND) is Suraj Barjatya , Struggling and writing (collecting) dialogues for his new movie to direct.
Please add Yash Chopra's classic 'Dil To Pagal Hai' (1997) to the list. Ta. 🧡
That’s such a boring movie, only songs are great rest its a super dull movie
that "no sorry, no thank you" was a reference to salman khan's superhit "maine pyar kia", and that suraj refers to suraj barjatiya who was the producer of that film
"No Sorry, No Thank You" dialogue is from the famous movie "Maine Pyaar Kiya" starring Salman Khan & Bhagyashree.
That’s exactly what the first half of Om Shanti om is. They’re just referencing a lot of older movies.
this was deepika's first bollywood movie, and she did a great job
Yes that No sorry No thankyou is from film- Maine Pyaar Kiya (Salman khan).
Achara was the perfect person to watch this movie cause she understands all the references and this movie is filled with lots
This movie is nothing less than a masterpiece.❣
The part with the guy who was standing outside writing the no sorry no thank you line is a reference to sooraj barjatya, the guy who wrote the story and dialogues and directed Salman khans 2nd movie(his first as a leading hero) called Maine Pyar Kiya, its a classic movie and that dialogue is the most popular from that movie.
Shantipriya is here !! I saw the notification for the patreon watch along and got snacks ready for this :)
The dialogue said by srk to deepika "friendship has a rule no sorry no thank you" is actually from Salman khan s first film Maine Pyaar Kiya (i have fallen in love) where Salman says the exact same dialogue to Bhagyashree (the heroine of that film)
"no sorry, no thank you" reference is from Maine pyar Kiya movie of Salman khan directed by sooraj bharjatiya❤
Speaking about wonderful audience, that dialogue was from a Salman Khan movie "Maine Pyaar Kiya", directed by Sooraj Barjatya who was also there!
Achara is SRK SPECIALIST!!
LOVE Her reaction 😍❤❤
This was the first Bollywood film i saw and i learned Hindi after watching this film
What a fun movie to watch! Achara and Gordon, at 8.30 min in the clip, you see Sunil Dutt, Sanjay Dutt's father. They used an old clip of him from a performance and made it work with "Shantipriya's" clip. The three male leads in that song are all superstars from 60s-70s period.
The Shantipriya in fire scene is a call back to real life incident when Sanjay Dutt's mother, Nargis, was caught in a fire during a shoot and his father Sunil Dutt had jumped in to save her, which ultimately started their personal story. The "No sorry No thank you scene" is a classic from DDLJ, directed by Sooraj Badjatya, and here they used that line very well indeed.
Damn! Achara is on fire with getting all the Bollywood filimy details!!
this movie is a tribute as well as a satire of old Indian cinema
❤
Shreya's talpade is the name of Sahrukh's friend here...he is also a great actor you can watch his acting in"Iqbal"movie then Golmal3, it's a comedy film. That no sorry no thanku in friendship dialogue was from movie"Maine pyaar kiya"starring Salman Khan and bhagyashree
Arjun Rampaul is an underrated gem of Bollywood....
Achara is the smartest person I have seen on RUclips when it comes to understand pop culture.
All time fav❤
Waaao , thank you soo much for this movie one of the most iconic movie "Om Shanti Om" 🕉
this was the epitome of modern bollywood
4:36 💖
You are right ,Achara . That scene is from a movie called 'karz', starring Mr. Rishi Kapoor
FYI - that first song with Rishi Kapoor is from another fantastic movie (with fabulous songs might i add) from the 80s. Its named 'Karz'
Achara and the other guy really dont have a clue whats gonna happen😂😂😂😂
Deepika got a dreamy debut! Akho me teri being fairy intro!
Old movies of srk is such a treat to watch. This one is one of my favourites bcoz of the great songs in it.
He’s a good friend:) ya he is BC THAT HIS BROTHER
I didn't know Deepika's voice was dubbed in this movie. They used the same voice actress for almost everyone those days 😭.. Katrina, Deepika, Sunny Leone
How good is Arjun Rampal in this film oh man!!
Editor really deserves a raise.😂
The reaction I didn't know I neededddddddd!!! That also with 2 of my favourite humanssssssssa
The songs man, they clicked some core memories
You and Andrew ; my favorite combo ❤
18:45 damn, i love the editor. The editor said exactly what i was thinking 😂😂
I know you are the editor 😂😂 Let me guess u deserve a raise too..😉
Fun or let's say shivering fact 😅 :
In the scene where Shahrukh is in the red coat on premiere night he meets a reporter named Vimi and he says "Vimi... You look lovely tonight".
In real there actually was an actress whose name was Vimi in the 60s. Her movies are Humraaz with Sunil dutt and etc. She became very much popular in her debut and some movies afterwards. But somehow her later movies were flop after flop so her career went almost to scrap.
And suddenly news came that Vimi has died. Reports say that her husband used to emotionally and mentally torture her and physically abuse her. Due to this she became extremely alcoholic and died.
Now Om Shanti Om was released in 2007. And the murder scene in the movie where Shanti is killed by her husband is set 30 yrs back. That would be 2007-30 = 1977...
And guess what year did Vimi died ......
*22 August 1977*
😨
Dosti Ka Usool "No Sorry No Thank you" is a line from Salman Khans break out movie Maine Pyar Kiya (I Fell In Love) Written and Directed by Sooraj Barjatya who wrote and directed two other Superhit movies starring Salman Khan over the next decade after the success of Maine Pyar Kiya. The guy writing down Oms words behind the tent was also named Sooraj....
18:46 was just OP!! 😂😂
Finally the reaction we’ve been waiting for!
14:01 that was the reference of SOORAJ BHARJATYA movie with Salman khan
OMG Achara and Andrew together after awhile ❤ can’t wait for all 3 parts to be done.
Andrew's confusion in understanding Deepika's statement to Shahrukh, is exactly every guys predicament in "misunderstanding" the "signals" 😪
The songs! Oh my god! These are still my favorite songs.
In real life Sunil Dutt jumped in the fire to save Nargis .. during Mother India ..
