    Looks incredible! Convinced me to give my Banshee the same treatment! This is my first MG (2nd Gundam build) and I’m brand new to customizing. You seem very skilled at it, have you ever considered making more tutorials? Maybe a secondary channel for non-Ver. ka?

    hey, great video! i'm probably will follow your steps for my future MG Banshee!
    i have some question, so i'm planning to get my self MG Unicorn OVA in a couple of months and i noticed that the inner frame is in kinda gunmetal(?) color instead of regular gray like the ver.KA version, should i apply top coat too for the inner frame? (probably either the Super Smooth Clear Flat or UV Cut Flat, haven't decide)
    also what do you think of instead applying the topcoat per parts as in your video vs per kit's limb (separate the head, torso, arms, legs and topcoat them indivdually)? thanks!

    • @KatokiHolic
      @KatokiHolic  3 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for watching the video!
      First, the answer to the first question. If the runner is gunmetal colored, I recommend not spraying the top coat. The reason I did a matte finish on the inner frame is because the basic gray glossy texture is not pretty. However, the gunmetal colored inner frame is pretty cool on its own :)
      The answer to the second question. If you don't care about some parts not having a matte finish when transforming from unicorn mode to destroy mode, then go with your opinion. On the other hand, if you care, I recommend doing it part by part like I did in the video.
      For example, if you do a matte finish on the upper body (assembled in unicorn mode), the chest parts (D10, D11) will not have any finish on the inner surface that is visible in destroy mode.
      On the other hand, if you spray a matte finish in destroy mode, the glossy psycho frame will become matte.
      I did the finish on each part to prepare for this situation.
      There is no perfect way, so I hope you think about it slowly and make your kit well. Thank you :)

    Hi, nice job! I would like to do as yours! Did you use any primer before painting? The flat transparent gives a matte finish it's right? Did you filed parts before painting? One more question, in my model I've noticed a color lost detaching antenna from sprue when I detached the part, so I've bought Mr hobby colors, metallic gold type 09 and flat yellow type 91 as described in the instructions inside the box to paint it, are they ok to fix? I've noticed that you have used only metallic gold spray over a black layer on those yellow parts and the result seems equal to original gold of antenna parts, maybe I can use the mix of those colors that I've bought to to paint yellow part of legs like you have done..(with black layer too) This version you made is awsome! Thank you

    • @KatokiHolic
      @KatokiHolic  3 года назад +1

      Did you use any primer before painting? The flat transparent gives a matte finish it's right?
      - No, I didn't use primer/surfacer before painting. If you spray flat finish, the plastic will turn into a matte texture!
      Did you filed parts before painting?
      - You mean sandpapering? I didn't use sandpaper. I only trim parts with nippers and nail clippers.
      In my model I've noticed a color lost detaching antenna from sprue when I detached the part, so I've bought Mr hobby colors, metallic gold type 09 and flat yellow type 91 as described in the instructions inside the box to paint it, are they ok to fix?
      - I don't know because I've never used metallic gold types 09 and flat yellow types 91. The tamiya ts-84 metallic gold I used is quite similar to the gold color of this kit, but not exactly the same. So if you have any spare parts, you'd better spray this color and compare it with your own eyes before choosing.

    Very beautiful Katoki! I love that you are showing these flat finishings for these kits. I was thinking of doing this for the banshee as well but had my doubts on whether a flat coat on the gold decals would work well. However, after seeing this the burnish gold results looks much better then originally in my opinion.
    Can I ask, have you tried spraying the tamiya gold lacquer onto the clear parts for the psycho frames? How does it look?
    Also, I've always assembled the entire kit first, then diassemble it into modular components (arms, torso, legs, head) all separately when i flat coat. Do you believe spraying flat coat on each part while diassembled yields a better result compared to it being assembled?

    • @KatokiHolic
      @KatokiHolic  4 года назад +2

      Thank you. I'm glad my video helped you!
      First of all, I didn't spray gold lacquer on the psycho frame. I think it would be okay to do the banshee because it goes well with gold paint.
      And I usually divide into modular components like you and spray a matte finish. However, the unicorn gundam series is different. If you spray the finish in destroyer mode, the gloss texture of the clear parts(psycho frame) disappears, and if you spray the finish in the unicorn mode, there are parts that do not spray at all (ex. body parts's D-11, D-10)
      So even if it's inconvenient, it's better to spray the finishing agent on each part.

    • @PLA8thRt
      @PLA8thRt 4 года назад

      @@KatokiHolic I see, thank you for the detailed response and for that helpful tip! I just ordered one!
      I'm planning on spraying a matte black lacquer, then tamiya gold on all psychoframe parts, with that being the case, since the gloss texture will be gone after spraying the gold on, spraying flat in destroyer mode would suffice then in my case?
      I also don't mind a flat gold as it seems to help the gold look more smooth and less flaky or spray can metallic.

    • @KatokiHolic
      @KatokiHolic  4 года назад +2

      @@PLA8thRt Yes, that's okay. because it is personal taste to leave a glossy texture on psycho frame parts.

    Did u sanding it to top coat like that?

    • @KatokiHolic
      @KatokiHolic  3 года назад +1

      I didn't use sandpaper to make this gundam. After painting the nub mark with a marker, I sprayed top coat.

    How long did you take to dry the TS-14 black lacquer

    • @KatokiHolic
      @KatokiHolic  4 года назад

      I usually dry lacquer for 1 to 2 hours.

    Why'd u paint some of the clear bits metallic?

    • @KatokiHolic
      @KatokiHolic  4 года назад

      This is because clear parts look different.
      For example, the clear part of the knee is bright orange because the different color parts do not combine.
      However, the clear part of the shoulder is in front of the grey part, making it dark orange.

    This was with no primer? Also did you paint the whole inner frame with gunmetal grey?

    • @KatokiHolic
      @KatokiHolic  4 года назад +1

      It's good to use primer spray, but I left it out.
      I used gunmetal gray to only vernier thruster parts
      .
      Body and weapon parts were only sprayed with flat finishing spray after panel lining.
