When one has only listen this song performed in the original blues style, especially by BWMcTell, he should find Townes' rendition a very fine, clever and soulfull one! Definitely among the greatests...
Fortunate to have MC'd his 1971 concert at Mercer University, in my home town of Macon, Ga. He was in rough shape physically, but his performance was excellent.
Listen to "Lungs" or Waiting Around to Die" in "Townes Van Zandt" or "Brand New Companion", "Nothin" and "Where I Lead me" in "Delta Momma Blues" or "German Mustard" in "The Late Great Townes Van Zandt" or "Dollar Bill Blues" in "Flying Shoes" or "Ain't Leaving Your Love" and "Gone, Gone Blues" in "At my Window". Definitively he got the blues!
A national treasure of international class.
Townes was such a good picker
Greatest of All Time!
Townes definitely knows how to play the Blues...

What a great moment in time this was. Wish I'd been there and was casting a glow over the memory but this new favorite is a keeper regardless.
Bad ass
Thank you! The sound is amazing for an old broadcast.....my favorite recording of Mr. Van Zandt...livin the Blues.
Can you believe only three people were low class enough to give this one a thumb down, now we're making progress!
Could listen to this kind of music all night long
Its no wonder why the guitar is the most popular musical insrument ever devised.
