    Largest hit and miss engine I ever came across in person was in an oil field in Eastern Wyoming back in the 1980's... The engine was housed in a shed and was taller than me (I'm 6'). The exhaust was a 5" steel pipe that ran out to about 50' from the shed. Every time that engine hit, it was louder than a shotgun going off. LOL I had to put my fingers in my ears because I didn't have any hearing protection with me. LOL The huge flywheels would spin for about 5 seconds between each "hit'. Even in modern day I can still hear hit & miss engines popping when I'm out in oil well country. And I believe some farmers still use them on irrigation pumps.

    Hey you have your comments turned off for the videos- Coles engine for Bill that you just posted up. In the second video I can see that the brass retaining screw for the governor weight in the flywheel is sitting proud of the flywheel now, it maybe working it’s way loose?

    What would be the price Tag for one of these? Interested in buying one. I'm tired of buying the cheap 400 dollar chinese hit and miss engines

    • @JoeKind1958
      @JoeKind1958  2 года назад

      Yea I know all about the China knock-offs. The ones I have are in the $2,000 to $4,000 range. Before fainting at those prices you need to know about how much work goes into building these. They all start out as either rough castings or solid bar stock in some cases that all require a lot of machining. You would actually be paying more if you took a box of castings with blueprints to a machine shop and have them machine all the parts for you. Company’s like DeBolt machine Sometimestime sell what they call mechanics kits and those are engines that I’ve had all the machine work done to them but you still need to do the finishing work and painting work on the engine along with the assembly. Even those kids start at around $3000. Again you’re not only paying for the rough casting kit you’re paying for somebody to do all the machine work to it. So these are all hand built and not as easy defined as the Chinese ones. Right now I have 2 engines that only need a small amount of work to get them up and running and ready to sell. I think I have more than 5 others that are in various condition, mostly in need of complete restorations, mainly cleaning, polishing and paint work. It takes me about three months of working most every day on one to do a complete restoration to make it look and run like what you see that I have posted on RUclips. My email address is joekind@comcast.net if you want to see any photos of what I have. Depending on your mechanical skills maybe you want one that needs a little bit of work done to it?

    • @JoeKind1958

      Hi Charles,
      I don’t have any that are ready to sell at this time. I actually have about 8 or so engines but all are in need of restoration. I look for uncompleted projects and older builds that are in need of restoration. Once completed I then offer them for sale.
      Right now I have two to restore that are already promised to someone. It’s going to be around the beginning of 2020 till I get started on one that will be publicly offered for sale. Once I complete a engine that will be offered for sale I take a video of it running and post that video here on RUclips. If you subscribe to my RUclips Chanel you will be notified when I post my next video . It’s the best way for you to find out a as soon as the next one is offered for sale.
      Thank you for asking😁

      @JoeKind1958  5 лет назад

      Nothing For Sale at this time.
      Right now I have 2 that are pre-sold and I need to get busy on those shortly. It will be around the beginning of next year (2020) that I will be starting to work on one that will publicly be offered For Sale.
      I post videos of every engine just before listing them on eBay. If you subscribe to my video Chanel you should be notified every time I post a new video.

    May I ask what is you eBay page?

    • @JoeKind1958
      @JoeKind1958  4 года назад

      My eBay user name is bushvideo . Right now I do not have anything listed. In fact this year so far I have yet to start my next engine project though I have a customer wanting that one when it’s finished. I make a video and post it here on every engine that I build or restore so it’s probably best to follow my activity here so you can see something before it gets listed on eBay.
      Sorry for not responding sooner. With a lot of people being home due to the “lock down” I have been flooded with questions from this site. Thanks for watching 😁👍
