I bought a used Imagine and I had almost given up on fixing my tension issues. This video showed me that it was a wrong setting, NOT the tension. THANKS.
Hi K H, we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing tension issues with your Imagine. Here are a few recommended steps to hopefully help fix the tension issues you may be experiencing - rethread the machine, check the stitch selector, check to make sure the thread is well-seated in the thread slots and check that the looper thread. If you continue to have issues, please give our Customer Support team a call here - babylock.com/support/contact
I have owned my Imagine for 10 years and I have made every one of those mistakes at least once. It's easy to do, especially if you're not using it everyday. This was a very good video. Thank you and thank you for wonderful sewing machines. I also own a decorator's choice that is 16 years old and got sent all the way back to Baby Lock headquarters for a major repair.😞
I was unaware of the needle inspection holes, which solved a problem I was experiencing. I had replaced the needles and one thread was not included in the chain. I re-threaded the whole machine and after watching the video realized the left needle wasn't all the way in and saw daylight in the needle inspection hole. Thanks so much for the visual!!!
Thank you soooo much for this video! It helped me troubleshoot and solve my issue. I had the wrong stitch selector for the stitch I was trying to make. Joy!
Thank you so much, I usually tie off and pull the looper threads through, but the thread came off and I spent 30 minutes trying to lock the lock lever until I finally got your video!! I finally got the thread through the lower looper!!!
Thank you! My problem was included in this video! I a new to serging but enjoy using it and realize each time I am learning a new skill in the machine and also what it can do to help me with my project. Thank you Sara for this calm organized presentation. I'll come back to it with my next problem.
Yay! We're so glad this was helpful for you! We have several serger classes over at Sew at Home classes (some free)! sewathomeclasses.com/ Happy serging!
Thank you sooooo much! I spent half an hour last night trying to figure out why my loop threads were so loose. I had accidentally hit the differential feed arm. I shrieked and my husband spilled his coffee on his tee shirt! If you were within arm’s lengthen right now you would get a big hug from me!!😊😊🤗
Thank you! I recently got an Enlighten- but was having trouble troubleshooting. My Diff. Feed had been knocked way off- and I did not see that my stitch selector needed to be changed to B for a three thread overlock stitch. It looks wonderful now. I cannot thank you enough! :)
Thank you thank you thank you thank you. Never used an overlocker before. Could not get my second hand one to work and no one could work it out when i showed them... it was the needle!!!! Thank you once again 😄😄😄😄😄
My biggest issue with my Baby-lock Imagine is that when I feed two pieces of fabric under the presser foot without lifting the presser foot, the first few stitches bunch the fabric - in other words, the first and second layer of fabric don’t go under the presser foot evenly. I read that maybe my knife was dull but even with a new knife installed it doesn’t feed in evenly and seems to push the top layer forward. Tough to put into words, but I’m hoping someone else is also having this problem and that you may have a solution. Thanks for a lovely, informative video, beautifully delivered.
This was excellent thank you. I work with a different Serger brand and would love a Babylock if these examples are anything to go by, but for the meantime, I've sorted out a number of problems with your brilliant video - thank you. As a suggestion, could you do one for a Coverstitch machine, as this can be a nightmare too?
Thanks for your comment! We do have a couple of free serger classes over at Sew at Home on the Baby Lock Ovation and Evolution sergers (that cover off on the Cover Stitch, that may provide some tips and tricks)! sewathomeclasses.com/ Happy serging!!
When the switch is put on B with the left needle in place, I get a perfect 3 thread narrow. The needle does NOT have to be removed. The piercings can even be used asa guide to attach elastic f.ex. with the coverstitch afterwards.
Very good tuition. I have difficulty threading my imagine machine as static electricity keeps the thread clinging to the metal just where you have to insert the thread. What do you suggest?
I just love Baby Lock 👍 my server is doing something weird, when I press on the pedal nothing happens :( and you can’t turn the hand wheel at all. We don’t have an authorized dealer or repair shop in our area so I am hoping you tuber can help. Thank you for sharing these great tips. 👍
Roberta Wright No I’m sorry I didn’t, I took it to a sewing shop and they wanted $75 just to look at it. So I sold it at a yard sale for $25.00 sad 😞. Good luck though 👍🏻
Roberta Wright Thank you, I was taken advantage of when I bought it, it was an elderly couple and I just took her word for it that it worked. Low and behold I got it him plugged it in all excited and it ran 1 second and locked up. I googled it for years but no help. I was already out $150 for it and couldn’t afford the repair diagnosis. Live and learn. I hope you get yours figured out though. Stay safe healthy and happy 👍🏻
@@Spokenfan ouch! I found a group on FB and it seems it's most likely locked up from lack of use. I will take it in when things open up again. You be safe and happy too.

Hey! I have an image wave self threader and the thread closest to me on the right isn’t pushing through with the air pump. Do you know what I can do? It only goes half way and then I cant get it through the other way
Is it in the owner's manual for the ovation a description for what letter is for what on the stitch selector? I sometimes have trouble with knits looping off the edge and I adjust the stitch selector until it is good. Thank you.
I have an Imagine. I have had mine for two years. I bought it from a babylock retailor.......used because I couldnt afford a new one......I am so bummed because it has never worked for me. I had it serviced when I first got it then something has happened to the blade.. not working well at all. I spent about 800.00 on it and trying to sell it to get a better one.
The Ovation and the Accolade are both 8-thread sergers that are also coverstitch machines. The Ovation is not a current model in our serger line-up, so we would recommend the Accolade.
thank you for this. I did have the extra loop issue on my Imagine, but not so far on the Ovation. what exactly do the setting on the right do? A B C D? you showed the B setting for 3 thread, and I know the A setting, but what about the others?
Hello, I've found this video to be quite helpful! I am having problems with my baby lock imagine feeding the fabric, but my foot is down. I've made sure there was no thread or lint under the stitch plate, rethreaded my machine, adjusted the differential feed to be the right setting for my fabrics, and adjusted my stitch length and with. Any tips are helpful! Thank you in advance
Hi Paulina! You've checked all of the right things! My best advice would be to take it to your Baby Lock retailer so they can see it in person and find a solution!
Can the looper system get blocked? The suction goes to where the tubes connect (when I open it I can see the thread, but when I pull it, it us only 1/2” in) the wind can be felt where I put the thread in? Thanks, Alta
Hi! I have an older machine- NecchiLock probably produced in the 70s- it is doing the last troubleshooting problem but I don’t think it has air tubes? Any thoughts? Thank you so much!
I have the Evolve, which I purchased back in 2001. The lock button is jammed, the handwheel is jammed and won't move, and the lever to the left of the lock button is all the way to the right and won't move. I had my machine stored in a closet over the last 10 years (didn't use it) and I don't know how those items jammed, but they did. And when pushing the lock button to try and release the handwheel, the plastic nub that covers the lock button split and fell off. :(. I sure hope this jam is something that repair can easily fix; my machine's never been serviced before.
Great video but I have a question.... How do you engage and disengage the subsidiary loopers? Mine stays in the engaged position and I can't figure out how to disengage it. I have the Babylock Evolution.

What would be causing my new to me Imagine serger to be making a knocking noise when I add a pointe knit under the pressure foot. It is still making a beautiful stitch.
I'm new at this and I have an important question that might sound stupid! I purchased a used imagine babylock and I don't know how to remove the thread that it came with. It came already threaded. I see videos and in the manual how to thread it but not how to remove it.
I’m just answering based on my experience. You should just cut the threads at the cones and then just serge until all the thread is pushed through the machine.
My needle thread keeps coming out at the end with extra thread that seems to be getting stuck in the needle plate somewhere. I have to pull the thread out with some difficulty, and then cut the extra "loop" of thread. What's going on???

On an Ovation...what am I doing wrong that the cover stitch won't chain off anymore than a 1/4 inch or so and then it makes kind of a clicking or catching sound and stops chaining an more like twisting and knotting and even breaks a needle thread every now and then. Everything else stitches fine.

What do you think could be the problem when I use my Imagine jet threading and it takes a long time to thread it? Is like not enough air. I have checked everything.
Hi Bertha alva! It is difficult to diagnose without seeing it, but, if it hasn't been serviced in awhile, it may be time to give it a tune-up! Or, perhaps the looper tubes just need a cleaning. I talked to a guy at the store where I bought my Baby Lock , he told me to thread it with the wire that came with my machine , that specialty thread is suppose to be threaded with, must have had lint in port, because when I ran the wire thru the port, it now threads correctly, so glad I called the store, as I live 65 miles away ,and would have been two trips, hopefully if anyone else has this problem , it will help them also .

Please seek advise from your local Baby Lock retailer so they can help you get to the bottom of it! Thank you!
Thanks.
Thank you
My serger has needles A and B. Needle A simply will not stitch. I have
changed the needle, cleaned the machine and threaded and rethreaded it
again and again. All the other needles stitch perfectly. Why wont needle
A stitch?

I know this video is 2 years old, but so hoping you can still answer a question for me, my jet air will not send the thread through, any idea why, if you could answer my question I would so appreciate it, thank you !
Hi! Great question! Occasionally, some thread fuzz can stop up the tube. Take it to your local Baby Lock retailer and they can help you quickly clear it!
Thank you so very much for responding to my question !
That's a great idea! Thank you for sharing! So glad it was quick and easy and you're back serging again!
