Freewheel clutch (oneway brake) ropepump

A one way brake based on a freewheel clutch that will block the rotation of the wheel and handle of a rope pump in the opposite direction. This is a safety device that prevent people from injury.

Is seems to fail in an unsafe way, which is not very good for a safety device. Locking up would be the safe way to fail but instead the clutch seems to have the tendency to have much less grip when polluted. Of course this would need to be tested over a longer time to determine whether it gets worse or better and whether there is a sudden failure point.
