Would love to see an "evolution of action figures" from a designer perspective. How'd we get from dolls to Star Wars to Super Powers to Marvel Legends and what were the big milestones?
Born in 81 and I liked these a lot growing up and had some but I mainly had TMNT and GI Joe but honestly I had figures from tons of lines as a kid. These were similar to TMNT and I used them with TMNT and toxie etc lol As a kid I did the mail away for the invisible Predator figure and I was so happy to get it as a kid lol!
There's a reason you can still find these on card just like power of the force. Great video Bobby, I'd love to see someone redo these characters with soft goods in 6 inch scale.
Mezco is doing that although theyre the original comic strip designs and not the movie. Pruneface is already released and the 2pk with Tracy and Flattop is about to release. Review units are already in reviewers hands. It’s all soft goods.
I bought several of the figures in the 90s. Ironically Ended up using the weapons and accessories for my TMNT figures. The line needed the trench coats, it’s such a huge part of the lore.
I love this line! I remember walking in a mall and seeing KB Toys display them in the front of the store, the yellow on the package really stood out… and the watch! My mom got me Mumbles, don’t know why, but he’s a cool figure. It would be years later when I finally got Tracy at a garage sale, so those are my only two figures from this line. The summer of 89 belonged to Batman, but the summer of 90 belonged to Dick Tracy. I just remember those black and yellow ads and cheap merchandise being everywhere. My cousin had a Breathless Mahoney shirt. Good times!

In order to make the 1990 Dick Tracy movie, Warren Beatty bought the rights to the Dick Tracy character for film. So if anyone wants to remake Dick Tracy it has to be approved by Warren Beatty. Or the rights would have to be purchased from him or his estate.

Those cars seem to go straight to close out. I don't remember seeing them until the whole line was on clearance. It was Toy Liquidators, I think, was the name of the place where I saw them. The movie's cars annoyed a lot of classic car collectors, because the movie cars were vintage vehicles modified to be sort of generic per Warren Beatty's desired look of the film (I think). Ruining classic cars for a movie is not a thing car collectors appreciate. (See also Christine)
I never got into the toys but I remember going to the theater to watch Dick Tracy with my dad he wanted to go see Days of Thunder and I wanted to watch Dick Tracy so we flipped a coin and I won
Line's not for me, but can totally see the appeal. Imagine if the movie had been more aligned with the tone of say, Ninja Turtles, and was a hit with the masses. Probably would have seen more from the IP. Wish that could have happened with The Shadow and The Phantom as well, then we could have a 30s crossover universe!
Mezco will help with 2 out of the 3. Hopefully they’ll do a 5 Points Dick Tracy set some day. Those sets come with a ton of figures and sometimes a vehicle. The 1966 Batman set has a Batmobile and I think 6 figures including the fancy non-tights suit version of Gorshin’s Riddler with his hat and jacket. I dont think that figure has ever been made other than that one. I cant believe Mcfarlane hasnt done that one yet.
The movie was a huge hit in its day. It cost around $40-46 million and made $162 million, so it was a huge success. Al Pacino was nominated for Best Supporting actor at that year’s Oscars for his role.
I liked the idea of Dick Tracy, but the movie was way off. Was it geared towards kids or adults? From all the goofy makeup you’d think kids, but it seemed too dark and boring to be for kids. Lost opportunity, this line could of been great like Batman. Too bad they didn’t get a great director like Tim Burton.
There's a mythical story of the motherload of ' blanks' somewhere in cananada, hidden deep near Ontario Forrest. Protected by army of sasquatch. But to get to them you'd have to fight off mounties, yeti's, gnomes, dwarves, hobbities, trolls, and dragons 😂❤🦎
youd rather ,keep the value of your expensive figure then allow 1000s of people to enjoy the figure and the line ? wow....what a collector friendly tought.
Are you a home owner? Obviously not. If you purchase a house for $400k and then the area around you puts up affordable condos making the value of your house go down. Do you celebrate that other people get housing while your house is worth less than you paid for it? Good luck selling your $400k house for $275 and then paying the difference to the bank. 👍🏻

Haha
Yea?
Spider-Man classics would be a good video
We talked about that a couple weeks back

@@Valaverse you know, i shouldve scrolled a bit before asking lol
Ha. No worries. Glad you came back.
I really liked Dick Tracy movie back in the day. Madonna was pretty dang hot in that film.
It's an underrated film for sure.
Mezco Dick tracy action figures put this toy line to shame
There's a mythical story of the motherload of ' blanks' somewhere in cananada, hidden deep near Ontario Forrest. Protected by army of sasquatch. But to get to them you'd have to fight off mounties, yeti's, gnomes, dwarves, hobbities, trolls, and dragons 😂❤🦎
Haha
Do you have the coordinates? I'm willing lol
Brave soldier
@@Valaverse 😂
youd rather ,keep the value of your expensive figure then allow 1000s of people to enjoy the figure and the line ?
wow....what a collector friendly tought.
What is this come?
What is this convo*?
Childhood me now wants to take reps from Playmates and beat their asses LOL
Mow eso si es una coleccion aparte mow yo tenia como 6o 8 años cuando vi esa movie
